About This Listing
A peaceful, beautifully decorated home located on a quiet street just minutes from the city centre. Enjoy an in-house massage, grab the scooter to explore the city, stream movies on the big screen or hang under the mango tree. This is Thailand!
Fusing Italian artistry with Thai tradition, the house remains a haven of tranquility and style. The ground floor boasts a plush living room and cozy den equipped with a large screen TV, Apple HDMI connector, wireless mouse/trackpad and a Sonos wireless sound system. The internet is fiberoptic and high speed. The kitchen has just about every gadget you could need including an abundance of bottled drinking water at your disposal. Also, as the house has a yoga/massage room, you are welcome to do your own practice, schedule a private class, or choose from my repertoire of Chiangmai's top notch massage therapists for an at-home treatment.
There are 2 bedrooms upstairs with queen beds, plenty of closet space, cupboards and air-conditioning/fan. There's lots of extra towels, bedsheets and linens too - so help yourself!
You've got the place to yourself! Retreat to the garden under the shade of a mango tree, fix yourself a meal just the way you like it or sip a coffee and catch up on emails in one of the many lounging spaces.
Interaction with Guests
If you're staying at the house, then it means I am out of town. However, should you need assistance, my girlfriend Emily (and neighbour Elizabeth) live around the corner and can point you towards the best of Chiangmai's foodie hotspots, massage therapists, yoga studios, designer boutiques and unique day trips around the area. You're in good hands! :-)
The house is located in a residential neighbourhood just 1.5km from the Old City's south gate, which means you're far enough from the traffic to get a good night sleep, but minutes away from all the action should you need it. Around the corner is everything you need from laundry and coffee shops to great noodle soup and a local vegetable/fruit markets. A little further down the road is Rimping, the luxury import supermarket with a great selection of just about anything you've been missing from home. Central Airport Plaza mall and the airport are also 5 minutes away.
Let us know where you are and Emily would be happy to pick you up in our trusty sidecar. We’ve also got a scooter with helmets that you are welcome to use as well as a bicycle, local mobile phone and map. In any case, between taxi's, rickshaw's, red buses, motorbikes, bicycles and walking - this house is well located and getting around is a breeze.

It was such a pleasure to stay at Christophe's beautiful home! I especially enjoyed the yoga room (def do yoga in morning/night) you'll feel great! It's a big house with a really nice TV also. Big back yard and good room size. Christophe was a pleasure to work with and also supplies me with a phone which was very helpful. There's a maid that comes once per week - and there's a washing machine outside. Really happy with this stay. Thanks Christophe! (PS - he has some cool books on yoga for reading as well!)
Christophe's house is delightful and peaceful. Three of us stayed there for a week, and found the house had plenty of space and was very well equipped with everything you could need especially in the kitchen, which had coffee makers, spices, wine glasses, lots of pots etc - you can tell Christophe loves to cook! The locale is away from the hustle and bustle of the city yet easily reachable - and the back garden was a lovely spot to hang out with a glass of wine.
The location is about 10 minutes by tuk tuk or scooter from the historical center of Chiang Mai and we found this very convenient as well as more peaceful than being right in the center. For transport, we sometimes used Christophe's scooter that he loaned us and at other times we easily hailed a tuk tuk or red taxi vans from the hotel just around the corner. Emily made sure we had some cards for the hotel and this made it very easy when catching a taxi back home too - great idea and very thoughtful.
Emily did an amazing job of meeting us at the airport and then briefing us on arrival - not just about the house but with all kinds of ideas on what to do in and around town. The most complete and thoughtful briefing we've had at any air bnb rental! It got our trip off to a great start. She was also available to us for questions throughout out stay.
We were pleased to find that Christophe has a fresh drinking water delivery service to the house which made things very easy (no need to lug bottled water home from the supermarket since you definitely shouldn't drink the tap water in Thailand).
One tip: around Chiang Mai there are so many things to do that it's worth a longer stay - cooking school, meditation class, yoga, waterfalls, elephant parks, museums and temples galore. We stayed a week and wished it could have been longer, both because of the hospitality of Chiang Mai but also because of the Chritophe's peaceful and enjoyable home - would definetly recommend!
Christophe picked us up from the airport in Chiang Mai (on time) in his scooter with a sidecar and was instantly friendly and helpful. On the short ride back to his house, and later that evening on our way out on the town, he took the opportunity to orient us to the major landmarks of the neighborhood to help us get our bearings. Once we arrived at his place (more on that in a moment), he welcomed us with homemade lemonade and a great map and guidebook of Chiang Mai.
His house is an oasis--think Zen interior decorating magazine--clean, airy, and in general, a really peaceful place to rest your head in between adventures in and around the city. There is a full kitchen and two bathrooms, which made being there with four adults feel easy. There's also outdoor patio, in addition to the living room, meaning you can hang out in public space with others or on your own, as you choose. There’s also a yoga room, which Christophe offered to us as long as he wasn’t teaching a private lesson.
We rented Christophe’s extra scooter for the week we were there, which was a bit scary at first (traffic in Chiang Mai is busy) but really was the best way to see the city. Two helmets were included.
We hung out with Christophe and his friends (several of whom were former Air B&B guests) a couple of nights and did our own thing a couple of nights. Bottom line: Christophe’s place is the perfect choice for guests who: value a peaceful, pretty place to rest their heads; like exploring but also enjoy suggestions and recommendations from a local; and enjoy a mix of time alone and time socializing with new friends. This spot is clean, safe, and convenient and comes with the perk of a great host. Overall, highly recommended!
Staying at Christophe’s worked very well. I was there for 18 days and the room and house worked well for what I needed it for—a work retreat and base for some simple touristing.
Christophe met me at the airport—greatly appreciated by me! —in his famous motor scooter with sidecar. He lives quite near the airport, which is handy. Once at his house, he gave me a phone to use and a map of Chiang Mai! This is something I do with my guests, so it really impressed me.
He is a wealth of information about the city—best places to go for meals, places with lots of trees, shopping areas, Buddhist temples, Thai massage, etc.—and is part of a community of high quality healing practitioners and expats.
He even had a motor scooter I could rent to get around. It took a couple of days to get used to driving on the left side of the road and the flow of traffic that is governed more by intuition than traffic rules!
The house was very clean and comfortable. There was some construction going on next door during the day and a couple of evenings I was serenaded by a chorus of frogs—I had never heard anything quite like it before! However, all that became part of the Chiang Mai experience.
I highly recommend Christophe’s for those who value a home atmosphere, pleasant surroundings and “going the extra mile” service that Christophe offers.
Staying with Christophe was absolutely wonderful! We've got a very warm welcome and I felt immediately at home. We could use a city map and mobile phone, which came in very handy to discover the town. Christophe gave us a bunch of tips through which we've seen so much more than only the touristic places. When there was time, we met for dinner or coffee. Christophe is a realy kind and enjoyable man who lives is such a nice home, so I would definitely recommend staying with him if you want to discover Chiang Mai in a personal and pleasant manner!
It doesn't get much better than Christophe and his gorgeous home. We arrived in Chiang Mai early one morning, and took a tuk tuk to a temple that we had arranged to meet Christophe at. Minutes after we were dropped off, we realized we were at the wrong temple, with no phone credit left to call Christophe with. After borrowing a phone from a passerby and calling him, Christophe promptly came by and picked up in his trusty sidecar, problem free! There are several similar stories I can think of that are telling of Christophe's character - he's welcoming, organized, thoughtful, and most of all an extremely genuine guy. He'll equip you with some maps and a phone, let you in on his list of local secrets, and if you're lucky serve you some of his amazing tea.
If you're headed to Chiang Mai, do not hesitate to stay with Christophe - you'll feel right at home. He is the reason Chiang Mai was our favorite city in Southeast Asia :D And yes, the house is as nice as the photos make it seem!
Fully met our expectations - helpful, kind, perfect host.
Thank you Christophe!
