The Bluffside Retreat is an ideal location for the adventure seekers who want a unique and private experience that is still close to all the action. The home is situated alongside the bluff on a private & partially wooded lot within walking distance of the Mississippi River, historic downtown McGregor and a Pikes Peak State Park TrailHead. It is a charming “home away from home” that has all the amenities for a memorable vacation stay.
Guest access
You will have the entire home and property to yourself. Each guest will receive a unique code to enter on the day of their arrival prior to check-in that expires at checkout.
Other things to note
The Bluffside Retreat is a charming two-story home with a full dine-in kitchen, living room, full bathroom (bathtub with a shower), laundry room and a sleeping nook (daybed with a trundle) that are located on the main level. The second floor has a master suite with a comfortable queen-size bed, ¾ bathroom (shower) and a large closet, along with a second bedroom and loft area that are also furnished with queen-size beds and just as cozy. Good WiFi is available throughout the house/deck and you can sign into Netflix, Amazon Prime, and other streaming service accounts through the SmartTV's located in the living room and upstairs bedrooms. The home is best suited for four to six adults, with a max occupancy of eight individuals.
KITCHEN SETUP
Fully stocked with cooking necessities, full-size refrigerator, stove, microwave, dual coffee/Keurig machine, and toaster.
GENERAL
Two bathrooms with towels, washcloths, shampoo, soap and hairdryer provided. A laundry room on the main level has a full-sized washer and dryer. Books, puzzles and board games are also provided.
HEATING/COOLING
The Bluffside Retreat has forced air heat and central air conditioning to keep our guests' comfortable no matter what time of year it is.
PARKING
There is a public parking area on the west side of the home that guests are encouraged to use. (Up to 4 vehicles). We ask that guests refrain from parking on the street, adjacent driveways or anywhere on the grass. There is another larger city parking lot nearby if additional parking spaces, including boat or trailer spaces, are needed.
Note that the parking is large enough to fit two vehicles wide by two vehicles deep. Depending on your arrangement and the size of your vehicles, there may be room for parking a boat or an RV although it may be tricky to get turned around. If you are parking something larger than a car or truck in the driveway, please be sure to inquire in advance.
OUTDOOR AREAS
The property is beautifully landscaped to include a brick patio, a barbecue and fire pit area as well as a hammock for relaxing. The deck and patio are situated off the front and side portions of the house, perfect for taking in the views of downtown McGregor and the Mississippi River while the backyard is an oasis for deer and turkey passing through.
TRAINS & NOISE
While the location feels somewhat secluded, our proximity to the train tracks does mean that there are occasions throughout the day and night where you will hear the tooting of a train horn and a slight rumbling on the tracks. We believe that the train adds to the nostalgia of McGregor. If you're a “rail enthusiast” or “train buff”, you’ll love the occasional sights and sounds of the trains passing by.

While we promote inclusion here in our community, please understand that safety measures are not in place on this property to host small children, pets or those who have physical limitations with navigating steps and/or uneven ground. To clarify - no pets or children under 12 years of age.
Only registered guests noted in the reservation (8 max) allowed overnight. Primary booker must confirm identity through the AirBNB platform and provide us with a list of the full legal name and address of each guest in the party.
We have a doorbell camera affixed to the main entry of the home (exterior) for guest security and assistance checking in. Please do not tamper with or obstruct the view of the camera.
While we have a “no parties” policy, there are times when we will make exceptions with prior consent. If you are wishing to host a gathering at the Bluffside Retreat, please inquire prior to submitting your reservation.
Please be courteous and remove your shoes at the entrances. This helps to keep the carpets clean and sanitary for all.
No smoking, vaping, e-cigarette, candles or incense inside. If you choose to smoke outside, please properly dispose of cigarette butts and do so away from open windows.
Extra charges will be incurred for excess cleaning requirements and/or any damages such as to countertops, beds, couches, TV, or carpets.
