About This Listing
A dreamy little private suite! Private entrance, full bath, kitchen appliances (including fridge, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker. and kettle) + laundry facilities. 20-30 min walk from downtown, on several bus routes. Easy!
We made some beautiful renovations to the suite in Fall 2014: New windows and steel door, new floor, new lighting, new sustainable energy thermal storage heating system, and fresh paint! In March 2015 we upgraded to high efficiency laundry appliances.
Our suite has a driveway parking spot for guests to use, private entrance, private full bath, kitchen appliances (including fridge, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker. and kettle. There is no stove) and laundry facilities are included. The set-up is simple but offers complete privacy and all the conveniences you might need! Parking for one car in a driveway. WIFI. Double bed, antique dresser, breakfast table and chairs. The set-up has proven ideal for longer-term guests visiting Halifax for medical electives, brief contracts, conferences, etc. If there is something missing from the suite that you require, we will do our best to accommodate. Located in our walk-in basement, the suite is suitable for guests with mobility restrictions (no stairs required).
Our house was built just after the Halifax Explosion, and is located near the Historic Hydrostone Market with it's fabulous restos and boutiques, such as Julien's Bakery for a morning croissant and Salvatores for gourmet pizza. We are steps from the Halifax Shipyard, on major bus routes (#7, 9), and it is a lovely 25 minute walk along the water to reach downtown. Beautiful big trees line our street and we have a view of the Halifax Harbour.
This is an extremely convenient option that offers privacy and comfort. We are a small family and we love living in Halifax, we look forward to hosting you!
Check in after 6pm and check out before noon.

Interaction with Guests
We do not see guests much at all, as we are at work all day and very busy with our daughter in the evening. But we do live upstairs so are available to help you out!
Beautiful, safe, waterfront residential urban neighbourhood
Very easy walk downtown or take one of many buses just metres from our front door. To get to us from the airport: take the 230 to Dartmouth then transfer to the #1.
Other Things to Note
Halifax has a winter street parking ban. If you are visiting in the winter you will find our driveway parking availability to be very helpful!
In general, check in after 6 pm, check out before noon. No smoking on the property. Quiet time between 11pm-7am. There is parking for one car in our driveway. Halifax has STRICT rules about garbage and recycling and compost: you must separate it. Keep the suite clean. We do not charge cleaning fees because we trust you will clean up after yourselves: throw out your garbage after sorting it, sweep up any mess, etc. Please remember: At the end of your stay place all linens (towels, sheets, dishtowels) in the washing machine and leave dishes, coffee maker, microwave, etc clean. Tell us about any problems or ask questions immediately. Thanks!
Cute little hideaway. Exactly as described and as shown in pictures. It's nice to have your own washroom, and everything you'd need readily available. AND a parking spot at the front door is a plus! Martha is lovely and would recommend her place to anyone visiting halifax.
Love that it is walking distance to Hydrostone shops. Convenient and has everything you would need.
Easy to check in even though we arrived later than expected. The suite is cozy and is in a great location. I would suggest to pack slippers as the floor is cold in the winter. Thanks for the stay!

About the Host, Martha
Hi! I would describe myself as outdoorsy and active, social and outgoing. Our house is an older home on a beautiful quiet street, and we can offer a lot of privacy to guests because the suite is in the basement with a separate entrance and bathroom. We have a 2 year old daughter. We are not around during the day and are pretty busy most nights, but we try our best and enjoy giving advice about how to get the most out of the city.
