Enjoy your stay in the tri-state area at my townhouse! Queen size bed, your own private bathroom, access to backyard. I am a 15 minute taxi ride from Newark Airport, but an expensive taxi or over an hour public commute from La Guardia or JFK.

The Space

The room I'm renting is conveniently located on the first floor of my townhouse. It has a queen size bed, large closet, cable tv, wifi, and ceiling fan. Right next to the room is your private bathroom. There is also a door to the back yard so you can enjoy some outdoor space.

2 adults, or 2 adults with 1 or 2 small children can comfortably fit in the room.

My roommate and I have bedrooms and a bathroom on the third floor, so you will have plenty of privacy.

Guest Access

You will have your own private bedroom and bathroom, plus access to the backyard. Other amenities are wifi, air conditioning, cable tv, and washer / dryer. Sheets and towels included. Please bring your own toiletries. I have a mini fridge, microwave, water, and utensils set up on the first floor, but feel free to use the second floor kitchen if you need anything else, or need more fridge space than the mini fridge can handle.

Interaction with Guests

I'm in and out of the house so if we are home at the same time I'd love to say hi and see how you are doing. If you're more of a private type no problem! Sometimes I never see my guests because they are out and about in nyc. My dog Diego will alert me with barks if I'm home that I have guests coming in. If I'm not home, I hear he just comes down to see what's going on. He doesn't bite.

The Neighborhood

Downtown Jersey City has great restaurants, bars, and shops all within walking distance. There are parks nearby as well. If you walk 10 minutes to the waterfront you will get spectacular views of Manhattan. A large shopping mall and grocery store are also a couple blocks away. I have lived here over 10 years and feel very safe.

Other local attractions include Hoboken, the birthplace of Frank Sinatra and the Cake Boss, Liberty Science Center, and Liberty State Park. Liberty State Park has ferry service to the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and Manhattan, not to mention great views. And of course, you are very close to Manhattan.

Getting around

My townhouse is 3 blocks to the Grove Street PATH station, then 7 min to World Trade Center, 10 min to Greenwich Village, and 20 min to 33rd street in Manhattan. The PATH runs 24/7. $2.50 a ride. I am also a 20 minute cab ride to Newark Airport which costs around $25 if you use a local taxi company. I have services I usually use to save money.

JFK and Laguardia are longer journeys to my house than Newark airport. You have to travel through Queens and Manhattan to get to NJ which is about 1 hour & 30 minutes.

Other Things to Note

Please bring your own soap, shampoo, toothpaste. If you could take out your trash at the end of your stay that would be great. I have a large black trash can next to the front door at the chain link fence.

  • Leigh has a very nice and clean place. We had a wonderful stay. Very close to a path station.

  • Staying at Leigh's house was wonderful! The layout of the room looked different form the picture, but it was even better. The bed was super comfortable too and the bathroom was clean.

The neighborhood felt very safe and was in a convenient location. It was in a great area with cute little restaurants and shops. I had no trouble getting from her house to NYC.

I didn't get the chance to meet Leigh, but she was very good at returning my text messages.

I hope to stay there again during future visits! Thanks for everything, Leigh!

Thanks Kristina for the nice review! I've asked airbnb if they can take professional photos of my new room layout, but they won't :( I need to try to take my own, but they won't be so good. But I think it is an improvement :)

  • Leigh was very friendly and helpful, for example with using her utilities. She gave us a good advice for some grocery stores. Her place is very close (about a 3 minutes walk) to the Path, which takes you in about 20 minutes to central Manhattan.
The room is clean and spacious, as shown in the pictures.
We would definitely recommend staying with Leigh and her cute dog Diego.
Thank you so much Leigh, we had a wonderful time in NYC!

  • Our stay at Leigh's was great! The room was clean and the separate entrance with private bath were great for us as we were attending a wedding that weekend and had a lot of hectic trips in and out of the apartment. The location is awesome: just a few short blocks from Newark Ave., and easy to navigate to and from. The parking space is an incredible bonus and really makes this apartment an amazing deal!

  • Leigh offers nice rooms and a lovely service in a convenient location. 5 minutes walk to Grove Street Station and 10/20 minutes by train to Manhattan, perfect!
We had a calm night in a comfotable bed. We think about staying with Leigh again at the end of our vacation.
Thanks (website hidden): Diego does really only bark, in a lovely way. ;-)

  • We had a great stay at Leigh's place. The location in 5 min to PATH trains is very convinient to explore Manhattan. There are lots of places to have breakfast or dinner around. The room and bathroom was very clean and comfortable, with everything you need. Leigh is very nice and welcoming. And Diego the dog is cute and didn't bark at us :)

  • Ultra convenient - close to PATH station and 15 minutes to WTC station. Things worked out just as advertised. If only the weather would have cooperated! Diego was a wonderful greeter and I only made it to the first floor so did not get to utilize the other amenities. Constant communication when necessary - a true success story.

  • Leigh was very helpful during our arrival on Friday morning. The place is very nice and well kept. The room is cozy and the bed is very comfy. The location is perfect, 2 blocks away from the grove street PATH train. Around the area are bars and restaurants for any kind of flavour. Diego, Leigh's little chihuahua is adorable and if you don't mind he'll keep you company. Overall an excellent experience and would visit again!

  • It was the first time I tried Airbnb and it was perfect. Great location! You are only 15-20 min door to door from Wall Street, 30-35 min from Time Square with PATH (24h/7) AND Leigh has a parking spot right in front of the entrance. You can't find a more convenient spot for this price.

  • Dealing with Leigh was a pleasure. She promptly responded to us, was very courteous, worked with our unique schedule, and little Diego (her dog) made us feel at home . The place was nice and clean with its own bathroom and direct access to the back yard/patio area. The amenities were well thought out and having our bedroom on the first floor ensured both easy access and privacy. It is a great location only a couple blocks from public transit and is surrounded by wonderful restaurants and shops. Having off street private parking is a HUGE factor in and around this area and will save you a ton of money and hassle. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is traveling.
