The Space

Staying with a family is the best way to make the most of your experience.
We are a family of 5. Mum, Dad & 3 children (15, 4 & 6). My husband works and I stay home to look after the children & our guests.

We have a busy fun household & enjoy welcoming guests into our family :)
Our guests stay in the house next door to our house. Which gives you as much independent as you like while still spending as much or as little time with us as you want.
it has five bedroom and two shared bathrooms. As well as a kitchen and laundry facilities, there is a large livingroom with TV & DVD player and a collection of DVD's that you are welcome to watch.
Each room has bed, storage, desk and access to Wifi.

We all eat dinner every evening together (except Sunday), which is fun and it gives everyone a chance to share their day.

The house has easy access from the airport and the city is a short bus ride away. DCU is a short walk from the house.

So if you want a home from home we will be happy to make your stay with us a comfortable one.

Guest Access

We have single & twin rooms available as well as a family room.
You will have full access to the living area and the guest kitchen. Laundry facilities available and washing soap is supplied.

Interaction with Guests

Our guests eat dinner in the evenings with the family in the evenings and are always welcome to share a coffee and a chat.
There is also a large livingroom in the guests house where everyone is free to socialize, relax or watch a movie
We are on hand to offer help, advise and direction when needed.

The Neighborhood

We live on a quite road in a mature suburb of Dublin. Half way between the airport & the city.
We are close to Dublin city university.
There is a medium sized shopping center within walking distance of the house, which has plenty of fast food and other restaurants.
Also there is a lovely park approx 5 mins from the house.

Getting around

The nearest bus stop is no more than 5 mins walking. The bus will take you directly into the city.

Other Things to Note

This is a shared home, so there will be other guests in the house while you are here. There is a fun, friendly environment in the house.

  • Ailis is a great host who is keen to make you feel welcome in her home and with her family - and she's very good at that. The way she has organized things, it is easy to feel at home. She is happy to chat and help out for example by providing information about Dublin, the area etc. There were many tourist brochures as well, although some were outdated they still gave an idea of things to do in/around Dublin. On arrival Ailis gave me a map of the local area with the bus stops, which was very practical.
I had a single room in the house next to the family house (where most guests stay) - but it turned out to be a twin room so it was nice and spacious for me. This house has its own kitchen and living area and two bathrooms. While I was there, there were only two other guests who were very nice and considerate. I would only have one point for improvement: The bathroom needed cleaning and the floor in my room wasn't vacuumed. But there were plenty of cleaning products available. The kitchen and other areas in the house were fine.
It was nice to have the opportunity to share a meal in the evenings - and easy to just let her know if you had other plans. During my stay (6 nights), about half the evening meals provided were take-away and half were home-cooked.
Ailis even allowed me to use her personal computer/printer several times to make the many prints that I needed, which was very kind. The tv in the guest house had no signal, but there were many dvd's if one wanted to watch a movie. The washing machine was free to use and washing soap was provided for free as well. The kitchen is well provided. The house has a big garden with chairs and a table (again separate from the family garden). It's easy to find company here if you like a chat, and also you can retreat to your own room if you like to spend time on your own.

  • I stayed at Ailis' with my son Eugenio for two weeks and it was grand! Ailis is full of energy and always more than willing to help.
The night after we arrived, she made a barbacue and we got the chance to meet the whoooooole family! ..
We spent quite a few evenings chatting at the back garden and I could not recount the attention given to my child, not only by her, but also her husband and even her husband's family too!!
It has been a lovely experience to be kept always warm at heart.

  • Excellent host, excellent beds. We stayed here for a night when we were passing thru Dublin on our way from the West of Ireland to catch an early morning flight from Dublin Airport. It's very close to the airport. The Collerans were excellent hosts, offered us dinner and we watched the Eurovision Song Contest with them. The house is spacious and very clean. Another great airbnb experience. Can highly recommend.

Host Mum :-)
we are Ailis & Ian. I am a fairly easy going mother of three. I enjoy reading (when i get the time), going out with my friends and hosting. The past eight years hosting have been great. We have met so many amazing people who have shared not only our day to day lives but some big events with us. Eating dinner in the evenings with our guests truly gives us a great connection with people who choose to stay with us and become part of our extended family. Our house is a home and although busy it is always filled with fun. I am a native English speaker but I am also fluent in Irish so I can teach you some words. I also have a small bit of French, and failing that I'm excellent with an online translator :-) There are no strangers here, just friends you haven't met yet :)
