The Space

Our charming guest cottage is nestled at the end of a private driveway on a wooded 3/4 acres. Quiet, peaceful and cozy describes this 1922 craftsman style hideaway. Fully updated kitchen with heated floor, bright dining room with coved ceilings, spacious living room with gas fireplace, updated bathroom with heated tile floor, large master bedroom with queen bed overlooking the mature foliage, roomy den with convertable couch, overstuffed chair and t.v/cable with french doors to allow for privacy. An extra room off den with bunkbed and pocket door is a favorite for kids, sitting room between master, living and bathroom and enclosed back porch allow for more elbow room. There is a gas grill on site ready to fire up.

Conveniently located minutes to I-5 access, 15 minutes to I-405,6 blocks to Lake Washington and the popular walking/cycling Burke-Gilman trail which leads to the U of W campus if traveled on for 8 miles.. Downtown Seattle 20 minutes, Ferry access to the Olympic Peninsula 15 minutes and Bastyr Campus 10 minutes.

Woodinville wineries only 10 miles ..easy access by car or in sunny weather...ride bikes on the burke gilman to enjoy your day...

Lake Forest Park is known for its winding roads and feel of being out in the country, yet, only 10 miles North of downtown Seattle.. Our location is within walking distance to Starbucks, Third Place Books, Honey Bear Bakery, our local library and express transit to U.W. and Downtown.

We have plenty of maps, books and general information about all the local inquiries you might have.

Interaction with Guests

We live on the 3/4 acres next door to the cottage's 3/4 acre. Although both homes are very private and secluded. We are usually home and available for issues that arise. We usually let you check in on your own and have a booklet that gives all the info most people need. If you would like to hang out and have a glass of wine or cup of coffee we are always open to that and love it when it works out to do so!

  • Elise and Andy have a lovely home, and were fantastic hosts. They communicated very well and even threw in a couple of much appreciated "extras" when we arrived. If anything, the house is actually larger than it looks in the photos. We had six of us (including 4 kids) and we were very comfortable. There were tons of toys if you are traveling with little ones. Our little guy built a train set than spanned 3 rooms and had the time of his life. We would highly recommend this cottage to anyone.

  • It is a VERY lovely place.

The cottage sits in a quiet path in hill. What you can feel is only the bird sining in bushes. But you can drive to stores within 15 minutes like Alderwood Mall, Whole Foods, PCC natural Market, Trade Joes, Costco, BestBuy. Visiting for downtown, Boeing company, Seattle Premium Outlet is less than 45 minutes driving. This cottage is just like we said In Chinese we say"離塵不離城", "You are away from dust, not away from city".

I will suggest everyone who wants to stay in Seattle MUST consider this place. It is clean, quiet, convenient. Especially for a couple or a family, it must be an unforgettable experience if you choose here!

  • Elise and Andy are wonderful hosts and their Lake Forest Park Cottage is a lovely little gem. We felt at home and it was very comfortable. I was in recovery from an operation and couldn't have asked for a better place to find warmth and quiet. My mother, sister and I wanted to stay longer and as we were leaving we were planning when we could come back. Lake Forest Park is a beautiful neighborhood with easy access to amenities. What is so special about the cottage is the feeling of being far away from the hustle and bustle, when in reality your are only 5 minutes from I-5 and close to downtown Seattle and other neighborhoods.
    Thank you,
    Chrissy, Gina and Evelyn

  • My family and I visited from Canada recently and Elise and Andy made us feel at home via email before we even landed in Seattle!
We arrived early evening and there was homemade cookies, fancy chocolate and a nice bottle of wine waiting for us... which was nice after a day of travel with a little one!
Elise came over and introduced herself and was so warm to us. She showed us the mounds of toys that our daughter could play with and kid's DVD's.... she was never bored during our stay that's for sure!
The cottage has so much charm.... we didn't want to leave! It's close to downtown and everything you could possibly need... but you feel like your in the forest with all the beautiful surrounding trees. My husband and I felt like we were staying in a treehouse.... because that's the view you have when you look out the master bedroom window... all you see are trees!
We will stay here again and recommend anyone traveling through to stay here... it's therapy for the soul!
Thank you again Elise and Any for your hospitality!

  • Elise and Andy were the perfect hosts. The house is amazing. The view from the bedroom is so beautiful and the house is decorated with a lot of love. We felt immediately comfortable when we walked in. They also have multiple drawers full with different games and the fireplace is great! Everything you could possibly need was provided. If we come back we would love to stay here again.

  • This place is so cozy and wonderful...a true gem full of charm and history. We arrived to a warm fire in the fireplace, jazz music, and home baked cookies. Elise and her daughter greeted us as we arrived and were so kind. Our boys loved that there was another kid nearby to play with. This place is so great because it's not far from all the activities in downtown Seattle but still makes you feel like you are at a secluded, wooded retreat. The house is stocked with everything you need. We even cooked a few dishes for Thanksgiving in the kitchen. We couldn't have picked a more perfect place to spend our holiday. We highly recommend this place!

  • The entire experience with this cottage was wonderful. Elise communicated well with me to confirm directions, my arrival timing, and reassure me that the fireplace would be aglow and lights would be on to welcome us. There was wine and chocolate when we walked in the door and the space was beautiful.

I highly recommend this cottage for a peaceful little getaway. Being so close to the Burke-Gilman/Lake Washington was a huge perk.

  • This enchanting forest bungalow truly feels miles away from everything. We wanted to be a short drive from Seattle, but with a 16-month old toddler we wanted a quiet retreat to relax away from the sounds of the city. This gem of a property was absolutely ideal for us. Elise and her daughter were so wonderful, and the house was just stocked with toys, movies, and games – perfect if you are bringing a child and don’t want to pack toys! (But the toys are hidden away in drawers, so if you’re not bringing kids you’d never know they were there.) The house is just so cozy, and you can’t beat the beautiful forest views from every single window. We also appreciated that the house feels lived-in in a good way – comfy furniture in every room, pantry essentials if you need them, and charming touches everywhere. The free laundry facilities in the basement were ideal for us, as we stayed for 8 days and needed to do laundry several times. Thanks Elise for a wonderful stay!

Travel, travel, travel! My husband Andy and I have spent a great deal of time in many countries around the world for both work and pleasure. Andy is a tall ship captain and spends a few months a year traveling via 'pirate ship' and I spend a few weeks a year with Drs Without Borders type volunteer surgical groups to city/towns all over the world..When not traveling we are..camping, hiking, swimming, cycling, almost all outdoor activites are enjoyed! We also love living on our property adjacent to our guest the woods, nurturing our produce garden, participating in local events, bbqing with our neighbors and drinking local brew. We welcome all to our peaceful place in the woods
