About this listing
The apartment has 1 bedroom an accesible kitchen, bathroom with a shower and a bathtub and a nice and bright living room.
It is located very close to the local shopping mall and only few meters from the bus station (the bus ride is free in Akureyri). It takes about 5 minutes to get to the swimming pool and there is a little over 10 minute drive to the skiing resort. The town of Akureyri is suitable for almost everyone to visit. It has a lot of fine restaurants, a lively nightlife, the cultural life is blossoming and there is a variety of activities the whole year round.
To Akureyri is only a 45 minute flight from Reykjavik and is situated close to Iceland's most extraordinary area, Myvatn. There is also a possibility to go whale watching near by amongst many other things. To find out more about Akureyri, you can go to (website hidden) or (website hidden) or (website hidden)
It was a pleasure to share à little bit of Greta's house and life. The room was perfect, clean and comfortable. Greta was very helpful with her washing mashine. It was also a pleasure to share some stuff about Iceland, France and travel.
Our host met us upon arrival, gave us key to apt and we moved in to the room. Bed was comfortable right next to bathroom. In a handy place in town to come and go. Room size adequate but there were lots of others' clothes and belongings in the room.
Greta was quick to reply back on my last minute request and gave all necessary information how to go to her place. I stayed in her daughter Karitas's lovely room.
I had an pleasant stay with Greta, her daughter and their occasionally excitable but very friendly and gentle little dog. Given that I was the first guest of the year there was a little bit of tidying and sorting done to make things ready but then all was as I could wish for. Although I didn't cook in the apartment I was able to have some fridge space and I'm sure could have done so fairly easily.
The apartment is about fifteen - twenty minutes walk from Akureyri town centre but free buses ply the route at least once or twice hourly during daytime hours and are useful if you are without a car. Greta gave me some useful information about places to visit. I found Akureyri to be a very pleasant town - I particularly loved the town thermal baths and visited every day for a swim and soak!
What an amazing stay. Greta was a very gracious host, always making herself available to make us feel at home. The room is lovely and we were able to use the kitchen and washing machine which was a real treat. Thank you!
Great stay! Greta was very friendly and helpful. Her little dog was so sweet! Her place is less than 10mns away from downtown. I highly recommend staying there.
