About This Listing
We are very happy to welcome you in Amsterdam!
You’ll find our cozy attic room in the Plantage Area, nearby Artis Zoo. This area is loved because it's nice and quiet but still in the center of Amsterdam. The attic is on the third flour of a typically 19th century Amsterdam house with a canal view. The room is just renovated.
The room is spacious and bright. It has a private entrance, one double bed, a dinner table with chairs, two sofa-chairs, a clothing rack, audio system (for Iphone/Ipod), DVD player, free Wifi, travel books (inlcluding Lonely Planet of the Netherlands) and a map of Amsterdam. There is a Nespresso coffee machine and watercooker to make your own coffee or tea. The room is the only one on the 3th flour and is situated at the back of the house, so it’s very quit to have a good sleep! Of course we provide clean sheets and towels.
Downstairs on the second floor you can find the toilet, kitchen (with oven, fridge, microwave and dishwasher) and a bathroom (with bathtub, separate shower and two sinks). These you share with us, your hosts. You don’t have to pass our living, so you still have your privacy. Everything is just renovated.
The apartment is very central located, just a short tram or metro ride from central station. Many famous spots are just a short walk away; Waterloo Square (where you can rent bikes), Rembrandt square, the canals, Hermitage Museum, Brouwerij t IJ (the only windmill in town), Hortus Botanicus, a few museums and the Skinny Bridge. There are many nice restaurants, bars, bakery and a bike rental just around the corner.
Our favorite site just a few minutes walk away: the view on the 'Skinny Bridge'. Walking around there gives you a very nice view on all the 17th century built houses and the open water. Still very romantic every time we walk there by night.
Furthermore, we love Amsterdam and would like to share our favorite restaurants, bars, cafes, coffeebars and hotspots. So you’ll get a local Amsterdam experience!
Suitable for 1-2 persons. Perfect for couple's. Not suitable for friends who want to discover the Amsterdam nightlife & coffeeshops. As we also share spaces we appreciate a personal message where you tell us a bit more about yourself.

Thanks to Gerard and Tjarda for the wonderful stay at their appartment. We liked the room in the attic very much. Also the location was central and perfect for a calm city trip :)
The Hosts welcomed us heartily and gave us lots of good addresses where to have breakfast and so on
we only can recommend this air bnb!
We were very happy to stay at Gerard's place. The room is massive, the neighbourhood is very quiet and nice. The flat is tidy and the hosts are very kind. The stairs are quite steep but you get use to it after a while and it is part of the Amsterdam experience I guess !
The room was beautiful and spacious. Gerard and Tjarda were lovely hosts and very welcoming, making conversation and giving suggestions whenever we saw them. The room is in a lovely part of Amsterdam and in walking distance from everything. I would recommend it to everyone who is looking for a relaxed city break.
We had a lovely relaxing time here- we didn't want to leave! The room is nice and big, and the apartment is a great location for exploring the city. We hired bikes from a shop on the next road, which I would definitely recommend. We didn't get to see much of the hosts, but they were very friendly and welcoming when we did. Fantastic value for money!
