Monica was very quick to respond to all my emails, and made it very easy to find her place. We loved the apartment and the location! We really appreciated the information sheets with all the grocery stores, restaurants, banks, etc that were in our neighborhood as well as her friendly welcome, and the fact that she spoke English. We tried several restaurants which made us feel like locals rather than tourists. Our stay was an extension of our vacation after a cruise, but we want to go back to Rome and stay for several weeks. There is no doubt that we would stay in Monica's place again!!!

Monica's apartment is a cool place in bloody hot Rome (2015 august). The clean apartment on the third floor has everything you need and more. We didn’t use the elevator because it seems to be out of order. Monica gave us a warm welcome and that’s something I can’t say about Romans in general. Don’t accept help from anyone in public places, it’s fake kindness and they just want your money and sometimes more than that.
Most of Rome’s highlights are just a 5 to 20 minutes’ walk. In the neighbourhood you can find plenty of fine restaurants, little supermarkets, bars, and takeaway food.
To get there from Ciampino Airport (CIA) we first took a bus to Ciampino train station. This (every 30 minutes) bus departs from platform 4 (next to the shuttlebuses look for “Cotral” on the road paving). Buy your ticket on the bus for €1,20. From Ciampino train station you go to Termini station in the heart of Rome. Buy your ticket in the kiosk on Ciampino train station for €1,50.
Shuttle busses directly from Ciampino to Termini are unreliable (often overbooked, sometimes cancelled, chaos and long lines at the platform where several bus company’s depart). Most of the taxi drivers seems to be thieves. They ask more than the fixed price of €30 (forced by law). Look for the unpleasant story’s on the internet.
From Termini you could walk to the apartment but traveling by metro is more comfortable. Buy your ticket for €1,50 at the ticket machine, go through the automatic turnstiles and choose line B in the direction of Laurentina. The first stop is Cavour and from there it’s less than a 5 minutes’ walk to the apartment.
Thank you Monica! We had a good time in Rome, also because of your place.
Monica's apartment was just a dream! She took us in earlier than she anticipated. It's a great location in the district of Monti. This where the locals live and play and yet it's only a six minute walk to the Colosseum. Her apartment was clean, had fast internet, the fan was a plus, and the AC was a God-send (summer visits). There's a gelato shop two doors down and our favorite; a cup of cappuccino and a cornetto for two for €3,40 at La Licata (Piazza de Madonna). Drink a cup in the "banco" (bar). Über is great and it works in Rome. Cheaper than a cab!
We had a great stay at Monica's flat! The flat is located 5 minutes walk from the Colesseum and in a great street with lots of nice restaurant options. Flat is in perfect condition and very spacious and comfortable. Air conditioning was great as on the days we were in Rome it was quite hot (36C). Monica was a very welcoming host, provided us with lots of tips on the neighborhood! We absolutely loved Rome and our stay and would recommend it to anyone - and on our next trip we know where to stay!
Monica's apartment is great! The description was accurate. The place was very clean and, very important with the extreme hot nights in July in Rome: air conditioned. The apartment is situated in a very nice and trendy part of Rome, Monti. Great location! And really close to the Colosseum. Surrounded by lots a boutiques and nice restaurants and bars. Our host was friendly and helpful. We very much felt at home at the place and would certainly recommend it to anyone!
The perfect apartment & host for an epic city
We loved our stay at Monica's apartment. The place is just like the pictures, actually even better. Monica was the perfect host, always there to answer our queries and doubts. She received us on day one and everything was perfect. The house has everything one would need and the kitchen is fully stocked which was awesome. The location is mind blowing, everything is walking distance, with the colosseum always in your sight :). And Monica's recommendations are extremely helpful - ensures you make the most of your time in this fascinating city.
