I had a lovely long-term stay at Amalia's. The flat is clean and spacious, and the house is charming, surrounded by a beautiful garden. There is also a nice private rooftop with a chair and tables. Amalia's mother, sisters and daughter in the other apartments were gracious hostesses.
The location is very convenient to the 8 tram, which gets you quickly to Trastevere train station or into the historic center. There is a great produce / food market nearby during the day Monday - Saturday, and the vast Villa Pamphili park is just a few tram stops away up the hill. Groceries, cafes, bakeries and several restaurants are conveniently nearby - loved the neighborhood!
Finally, Amalia is very responsive to my questions and requests, and she has been very thorough in helping recommend restaurants, gelaterias, groceries, etc., particularly as I was just getting settled. Highly recommend this place!
I have only good things to say about the host and the place. Amalia responded from the very beginning quickly and supplied me with all necessary information in a detailed manner to the point of supplying a map with supermarkets open on a Sunday (the day I arrived). As she herself wasn`t there, her daughter Cecilia welcomed me and showed me around. She had prepared everything beautifully and even left some cooking oil, salt and sugar for my use. All the little, thoughtful touches from the hosts made me feel very welcome in the spacious, clean, well-equipped apartment situated in one of my favourite Roman districts: lovely residential, yet close to the centre and all attractions by taking a quick tram ride. The apartment is situated in a villa and offers a great atmosphere, with good wifi and a desk, so that I enjoyed working in the space as well as using it for an excellent base from which to explore Rome and to come back to for cooking a nice dinner and relax. Communication was easy and I had some lovely talks with Cecilia. I highly recommend this accommodation to anybody, who is looking for a self-contained space, but with hosts who are easily reached and always willing to assist with anything. I certainly would like to go back there for a longer period and thank Amalia, Cecilia and Maria for having made my stay so comfortable and welcomed me with warmth.
I would like to say here what a pleasure it was to stay at Amalia's. I always felt that I was very secure locked behind a high wall. It was quiet and very comfortable. I loved Maria, I wish that I was able to speak Italian to get to know her better. We did have an interpreter on site but it's not the same as being able to speak. Anyway, it was a great stay and I would do it again in a second.
