This ashram is located in a peaceful and serene area of ubud. Where all you can hear are the sounds of nature. It's away from the bustle of ubud central and perfect for quiet time.
The ashram itself is so beautiful and you feel as though your in a magical fairy garden. There is a kitchen facility, healing pool and temple for prayer and meditation.
The staff are very friendly and accommodating.
I had a really wonderful two weeks at the ashram. The grounds are beautiful and it's a very peaceful space. The hut that I stayed in was close to the road, but it was very quiet and I slept well every night. In addition to the daily yoga and meditations offered, the ashram also hosts other activities throughout the week. The community is invited to some of these activities and it was really nice to participate and have the chance to meet with them afterward.
I can't go without saying how delicious the food was! I looked forward to breakfast every day and also had a few dinners there, as well.
My experience was really wonderful and I look forward to returning - thank you, Herny & Yuda!
I was warmly welcomed by Yuda & Herny at Anand Ashram. I had such a peaceful and pleasant stay here for 10 days. It's the perfect place to just be. I attended the 30 minute meditations in the mornings which was a lovely way to start the day and I highly recommend it. I also recommend the ceremony in the morning. Also it was lovely listening to the singing on some days of the week in the evenings. The cabin I stayed in was just right for me at the time - a solo traveller seeking stillness. The outdoor shower was a delight. The gardens are stunning and the entire design of the ashram is amazing. It is located in a nice quiet area in the north of Ubud, under 10 minutes scooter ride to the heart of the town. Thank you Yuda and Herny for such a special place! I will be back over and over.
I enjoyed my stay at Anand Ashram and meet lots of nice like minded people. I stayed in one of the front bush material huts and really enjoyed the outside bathroom. It would have been nice to have a rubbish bin and some seating. I asked if their was a chair for the deck and was told that most people just sit on the ground which didn't make me feel very welcome.
Also had a few rat visitors at night, but this is to be expected with a bush material roof.
I never ate at Anand Ashram as you had to order meals 24hrs in advance.
Thank you for your feedback and we apologize for your unpleasant experience. We have tried our best to prevent the rats using natural remedy. However, since Ashram is located next to the rice field, we can still occasionally meet one or two in the garden or anywhere outdoor, along with the frogs, geckos, non-poisonous spiders etc. As for the chair request, we apologize if our spontaneous comment made you feel unwelcome. Indeed most people enjoy sitting on wood terrace to be more grounded. Also the rubbish bin can be found under the wash basin in the bathroom. We understand that some people are hesitant to express their concerns openly thus creates unnecessary misunderstanding. Therefore we will try harder to facilitate smooth communication in the future. Namaste
It was really easy to get in touch with Herny and get sorted out. When I arrived, I was met by someone and shown to my hut. It's very simple but incredibly clean and cozy, perfect for me. The grounds are really lovely, and there's wifi, a fridge, and access to hot and cold water any time. As a place to stay I really enjoyed it. I was there for the ashram experience, but unfortunately I ended up spending a lot of time out of the property because I started a batik class and my project took much longer than intended. The staff aren't pushy about your involvement in the meditations or community life at all, so you should feel at ease if that's a concern. I personally wish I had allowed myself more time there to soak in the environment and be more involved! They also offer meals on site, but I didn't take advantage of it unfortunately-- it smelled delicious and everyone else raved about the food. The other guests were all lovely people from all over the world, very kind and easygoing. I loved the location, but if you're not comfortable on a motorbike you may find it difficult to get to town. Someone passing by will likely offer a ride, though! All the locals on the road are really friendly, so smile and you'll get a huge smile in return. And the batik studio where I took classes is just down the road, and well worth it!
If you are looking to have some peace and quiet this is the place. Don't get discouraged as at first it felt like I was not wanted. However, the host were nice overall. The wooden hut is the best, very small but quaint and the outdoor restroom was great. I loved it, although most girls are to scared of the outdoors. I enjoyed...
it was nice down time. The meditation 3 x's a day was well needed. They were not so clear about how to receive food or how the rituals worked... but, I learned fast. You will enjoy if you are looking to take a look from within.
Great place. After a few nights at more crowded places I was yearning for a quite and peaceful place to stay. The Ashram was exactly what I was looking for. Beautifully located a little bit outside of Ubud directly in the rice fields. The estate with the temple and the garden is a magical place. Great vegetarian meals. Hernie and Yuda are wonderful and very friendly hosts. Thanks a lot.
