  • It was really easy to get in touch with Herny and get sorted out. When I arrived, I was met by someone and shown to my hut. It's very simple but incredibly clean and cozy, perfect for me. The grounds are really lovely, and there's wifi, a fridge, and access to hot and cold water any time. As a place to stay I really enjoyed it. I was there for the ashram experience, but unfortunately I ended up spending a lot of time out of the property because I started a batik class and my project took much longer than intended. The staff aren't pushy about your involvement in the meditations or community life at all, so you should feel at ease if that's a concern. I personally wish I had allowed myself more time there to soak in the environment and be more involved! They also offer meals on site, but I didn't take advantage of it unfortunately-- it smelled delicious and everyone else raved about the food. The other guests were all lovely people from all over the world, very kind and easygoing. I loved the location, but if you're not comfortable on a motorbike you may find it difficult to get to town. Someone passing by will likely offer a ride, though! All the locals on the road are really friendly, so smile and you'll get a huge smile in return. And the batik studio where I took classes is just down the road, and well worth it!

  • If you are looking to have some peace and quiet this is the place. Don't get discouraged as at first it felt like I was not wanted. However, the host were nice overall. The wooden hut is the best, very small but quaint and the outdoor restroom was great. I loved it, although most girls are to scared of the outdoors. I enjoyed...
it was nice down time. The meditation 3 x's a day was well needed. They were not so clear about how to receive food or how the rituals worked... but, I learned fast. You will enjoy if you are looking to take a look from within.

  • Great place. After a few nights at more crowded places I was yearning for a quite and peaceful place to stay. The Ashram was exactly what I was looking for. Beautifully located a little bit outside of Ubud directly in the rice fields. The estate with the temple and the garden (email hidden)eat vegetarian meals. Hernie and Yuda are wonderful and very friendly hosts. Thanks a lot.

  • Anand Ashram is beautiful and peaceful - I saw the first fireflies of my life over the rice paddies surrounding it. It was a lovely way to start my Bali trip, and the bungalow I stayed in had a minimalism that gave a sense of calmness. Taking showers next to jungle plants in the outdoor bathroom was fun. The hosts are very sweet.

Like many reviews have mentioned, it's not for everyone. It's best suited for a contemplated retreat, and if you plan on spending late evenings in town socializing at the pleasant cafés and bars, perhaps a place in central Ubud is a better choice.

  • Anand Ashram is a very nice and calm place about 3 km from Ubud Center.

I enjoyed my stay there very much, because it is located next to rice fields and - of course - a temple in a very quiet area.

The rooms reach from cosy cottage style garden housees with open air bathroom and a mattress on the floor to bigger 2 bed rooms with rice field view. All rooms are very clean and provide a very pleasant atmosphere, which I loved a lot.

Henry was very helpful and just a very nice person. Furtheron the experience in a Ashram to me was great - there is this kind and warm atmosphere that makes it special.

I would definately go there again! Make sure you got a Scooter or a Car, if you plan to go to Ubud frequently.

  • The place is great - quiet, peaceful, near the city of Ubud (10 mins with scootee) and still among rice fields with great views. We stayed 7 nights in a standart room on the second floor with great view to the fields. Room was very clean, bathroom spacious. Kitchen area and library also available. Mira was very helpful and polite. It is your own choice if you want to attend the ashrams activities. We felt very cosy and comfortable in the ashram and recommend it to people who are not looking only for bars and party in Ubud, but need some rest and time for relaxation.

  • Anand Ashram was a joyful peaceful place to stay, in a perfect safe distance from Ubud center, and the people there were like a family to me! It felt like home for these happy days I was there and yes, it is an Ashram, for spiritual travelers, so make sure you enjoy all the fantastic meditation sessions!

I stayed at this joglo/bungalow and it was so cute and clean, the bathroom was outdoors, it was amazing!

I am coming back for sure!
