“La Shamiana Dharamshala – Inn for Spiritual Travelers” is the residential quarters in Anand Ashram Ubud.
Ashram provides a peaceful environment and simplicity that is conducive for Self-Discovery and Empowerment, with daily activities of Meditation and Yoga. It's perfect place for guests who genuinely seek a spiritual life or simply want to have a personal retreat and quiet time for themselves.
As such, Ashram may not be a suitable place for those looking for accommodation alone.
The minimum age to stay in the ashram is 12 years old. We regret that at present we do not have special facilities for the disable or sick persons. We, therefore, expect all visitors to be in fit condition, physically, as well as mentally/emotionally.
Located 3 km from Ubud Center, it will take 45 minutes by walking and less than 5 minutes by scooter, therefore it's highly suggested to rent a scooter or use taxi.
All guests are free to use the Meditation facility and Chapel of Mother Goddess for personal spiritual practices, use of the Healing Pool, garden area, and parking for motorbike but please adhere to the timing of public usage. Kitchen is opened for staff only.
If you are looking to have some peace and quiet this is the place. Don't get discouraged as at first it felt like I was not wanted. However, the host were nice overall. The wooden hut is the best, very small but quaint and the outdoor restroom was great. I loved it, although most girls are to scared of the outdoors. I enjoyed...
it was nice down time. The meditation 3 x's a day was well needed. They were not so clear about how to receive food or how the rituals worked... but, I learned fast. You will enjoy if you are looking to take a look from within.
Great place. After a few nights at more crowded places I was yearning for a quite and peaceful place to stay. The Ashram was exactly what I was looking for. Beautifully located a little bit outside of Ubud directly in the rice fields. The estate with the temple and the garden is a magical place. Great vegetarian meals. Hernie and Yuda are wonderful and very friendly hosts. Thanks a lot.
Anand Ashram is beautiful and peaceful - I saw the first fireflies of my life over the rice paddies surrounding it. It was a lovely way to start my Bali trip, and the bungalow I stayed in had a minimalism that gave a sense of calmness. Taking showers next to jungle plants in the outdoor bathroom was fun. The hosts are very sweet.
Like many reviews have mentioned, it's not for everyone. It's best suited for a contemplated retreat, and if you plan on spending late evenings in town socializing at the pleasant cafés and bars, perhaps a place in central Ubud is a better choice.
Anand Ashram is a very nice and calm place about 3 km from Ubud Center.
I enjoyed my stay there very much, because it is located next to rice fields and - of course - a temple in a very quiet area.
The rooms reach from cosy cottage style garden housees with open air bathroom and a mattress on the floor to bigger 2 bed rooms with rice field view. All rooms are very clean and provide a very pleasant atmosphere, which I loved a lot.
Henry was very helpful and just a very nice person. Furtheron the experience in a Ashram to me was great - there is this kind and warm atmosphere that makes it special.
I would definately go there again! Make sure you got a Scooter or a Car, if you plan to go to Ubud frequently.
The place is great - quiet, peaceful, near the city of Ubud (10 mins with scootee) and still among rice fields with great views. We stayed 7 nights in a standart room on the second floor with great view to the fields. Room was very clean, bathroom spacious. Kitchen area and library also available. Mira was very helpful and polite. It is your own choice if you want to attend the ashrams activities. We felt very cosy and comfortable in the ashram and recommend it to people who are not looking only for bars and party in Ubud, but need some rest and time for relaxation.
Anand Ashram was a joyful peaceful place to stay, in a perfect safe distance from Ubud center, and the people there were like a family to me! It felt like home for these happy days I was there and yes, it is an Ashram, for spiritual travelers, so make sure you enjoy all the fantastic meditation sessions!
I stayed at this joglo/bungalow and it was so cute and clean, the bathroom was outdoors, it was amazing!
I am coming back for sure!
Such a beautiful, quaint place! The host was very nice! I would come back here in a heart beat. A great little off the beat and path place to stay in Ubud!
