Nice-sized room on third floor of a beautiful, historic home near the waterfront. Queen sized bed. Private Bath. This floor is totally private, except if you know someone who wants the other room that is on third floor, which is larger and has two twin beds. Then you would need to share the bathroom.
Located in the center of a historical new england town center with leafy streets, fishing boats, and beautiful architecture. There is a nice yard with gardens. There is a park with a running track a block away. There is a bicycle path two bolcks away. There is a nice, 2 mile run to the ocean and back.
House is near beaches, parks, restaurants, ferry to Martha's vineyard. Within 30 mins of Newport, Providence, Cape Cod. Within an hour of two airports, boston, and marthas vineyard.
The property is historical with Greek Revival Architecture. It was in FDR's family for over 100 years.
While it has a historical ambiance, it is a laid back and friendly place. Ask the inn-keeper for advice on your stay or stay to yourself, whatever suits you best.
From the house, you can walk to the fishing harbor, restaurants, library, beach, parks. We are only a mile or so from the ferry to Martha's Vineyard and the New Bedford Whaling Museum. We are within half-an-hour of Newport, Cape Cod, Providence, and many beaches. Within an hour, find two airports, Boston, mid-Cape, ferry to Nantucket, whale watching, Plymouth Plantation, etc.
Paul and Heidi made us very welcome. They were engaging and informative about local history and interesting places to visit. Excellent recommendation for restaurant in the area. The house was beautiful, full of character and history. We decided the bed was the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in and the breakfast was outstanding!
The house is gorgeous, perfectly clean, and you will notice how Paul takes such a good care of his place just by looking at the details.
The place has a lot of green outside (and inside) which I loved!
I'm crazy about cleaness and organization and at Paul's house I felt like I was home.
The breakfast was way better than we expected, and the location just a few blocks from the beach was perfect to relax and wish we didn't have to leave. We will go back, Paul. Thank you!
We ended up in Fairhaven really by mistake - a last minute change to our travel plans meant that we needed emergency accommodation at short notice. Paul was extremely quick to respond to our plea, and gave us a great offer. We loved Fairhaven & the surrounding area - amazing fishing, really, really great food & beer in Margaret's and fascinating story. The house itself is beautiful, old, perfectly clean & cosy, and Heidi looked after us so well. A definite recommendation if you wanted to get off the 'beaten New England track.'
it was such a surprise to find we were in such an historic house. It is a fantastic place to stay and Paul has set it up so you really feel special. The breakfast in the dining room was excellent and the room was spacious.
