Interaction with Guests

I love people, who they are, what they do, etc. Most guests are very busy, so I try not to bother, but the short answer is 'as much as people want to'.

The Neighborhood

As a neighbor said to me one night while we were walking our dogs, I love the peacefulness of the suburban quality, at the same time many great restaurants are a short walking distance away. We have one, Zocalo, right across our driveway. Also, our street runs from the Mystic River to Spy Pond. That is very cool!

Getting around

Bus stop in sight from our windows on Broadway. Couple blocks from the buses on Mass Ave, basically 15 min from the T at Alewife station.

Other Things to Note

The East Arlington neighborhood is charming, most of these 'two flats' that go for miles in every direction were where a lot of working class families raised their kids from the '20s until fairly recently. Shirley's folks emigrated from England and got this place in 1962.

  • I have rented a room for one week because I was in a moving process and needed a place to be with my two daughters (8 & 6). I already knew the area because my daughters are going to school nearby, so for me, it was the perfect location. Dennis was very welcoming, kid friendly and he was taking good care of our well being. So we really felt at home. We used the kitchen and the garden and we spent a very nice week. Thank you Dennis!

  • I was between leases and needed a place to crash for a month. I couldn't have found a more interesting and relaxing way to spend the time than stay at Dennis and Shirley's place in Arlington. I had the honor of being the first guest at the house (they have previous airbnb experience on the West Coast) and although the whole floor was a work in progress, my bedroom was an oasis of comfort. Dennis genuinely enjoys meeting new people and he himself is a great person, and there is a perfect host. Over the course of my stay, I really enjoyed the morning coffee and conversation provided by Dennis and will miss that for sure. The place has also been opened up to a few more guests so it was interesting meeting other airbnb goers.
