We have a two-bedroom, one bathroom row house one block from the Shaw/Howard Metro stop in Washington DC.
It is a perfect location for anyone that wants to be close to transit, and is a short walk to the convention center, U-Street neighborhood, Chinatown, and Logan Circle.
My wife and I live in the other bedroom, and love showing people fun things to do in our city. Our house is powered using 100% wind energy through RECs.
Guest will have access to the entire house, yard, and all amenities.
Interaction with Guests
We enjoy interacting with guest and making new friends but also respect the privacy of those who would rather not be bothered.
Shaw is a great neighborhood full of small and unique bars, restaurants, and things to do. There is plenty to see, do, and eats within a few blocks.
We are 1 block from the Shaw Metro station (Green and Yellow Lines), a bike-share dock, and several bus lines. Most of downtown is a quick walk.
It was all very easy going staying with David and Meredith. The house is nice and the room is really great. They were really lovely and relaxed and easy going. The area itself was not so exciting, but as it was so close to the metro it was easy to get around.
This was a great place to stay and Dave and Meredith were very welcoming. I was in DC on a work trip and was in meetings the majority of the time so I was not there a lot, but it was a great place to crash at night. Everything was clean and comfortable and I would strongly recommend it to others.
David and Meredith are great hosts. Their place is very well located (a block from the metro) and very cozy. Dave and Meredith are very friendly and make you feel at home. There is a cute cat named Fred as well. I would recommend staying here.
David and his wife Meredith are the nicest people one could meet. They are excellent hosts. From arrival we were welcomed into their lovely 2 bedroom home by the Howard Theatre and train station. We shared a New Year's toast and tried delicious homemade ravioli. It was great that they had a parking pass for us to park right in front.
David and Meredith were extremely welcoming hosts. They both went at great length to make me feel confortable in their home. Through them I discovered the warm spirit of Washington during Halloween. I can only strongly recommend them!
David was very welcoming and helpful. He was available by phone and we had no trouble finding the house. It's in a nice neighborhood with lots of new places to hang out. It's an especially good location if you are catching a show at the 930 club like we were. The house was clean and the bed was comfortable. Fred, the cat, was a welcome surprise. I also enjoyed the dinosaur collection in the bathroom.
A great place to stay in DC! For someone visiting the area for the first time, I loved that the house was easy to find and very close to the metro. I stayed in their large guest bedroom, which was very clean with plenty of space to store clothing. Meredith and Dave were very welcoming, helped me move in and prepared yummy homemade cupcakes and a snack bowl in advance. They provide a great personalized guide of places to go and things to do in the neighborhood as well as DC. They are caring and conscientious and would always ask if I need anything else throughout my stay. The house very nice and as you see in the pictures, always kept clean and tidy. The neighborhood is up-and-coming with everything you need within walking distance. The only downside is you would hear dogs barking randomly a few blocks away almost every other night in the PM. (It only lasts a few minutes.) I felt safe in the home and neighborhood. I enjoyed my stay at Dave and Meredith's home and would definitely recommend this place to anyone. They are wonderful people to stay with.
