About this listing
Our place is a tidy and spacious one bedroom apartment on a beautiful tree lined street in one of the most convenient neighborhoods in Brooklyn. You get the whole apartment to yourselves (there are no other housemates or animals). We live in Boerum Hill, surrounded by many excellent restaurants, shops, markets and bars. Our place has wood floors, high tin ceilings, wireless internet, a large eat-in kitchen, and air conditioning. There is some construction going on in our neighborhood, so some noise may be audible- it hasn't been excessively loud but we like to let people know. Construction in the area only happens on weekdays in the daytime, never at night or on weekends.
Our neighborhood is situated right in between Brooklyn Heights, Carroll Gardens, Fort Green, and Park Slope; a five minute walk will get you to any of these neighborhoods. It is also a nice walk to the Brooklyn Promenade, and the waterfront parks in Dumbo. We are close to the newly built Barclay's Center, home to the Brooklyn Nets and site of many concerts and sports events. Our neighborhood is clean, family friendly, and filled with activities. Our place is a few blocks away from A, B, C, D, 2, 3, 4, 5, F, G, N, R, & Q trains. A look at the map shows all the train stations near our place- because we are so close to so many subway lines, it is a very quick trip into almost anywhere you want to go in Manhattan, and because of train routing, it is actually sometimes more convenient than getting places from within Manhattan. It's usually possible to get anywhere you want to go without having to transfer subways.
Interaction with Guests
We will be available via phone or email to assist with any situations while you are at our place.
There is no smoking allowed in the apartment, but we have a great stoop out front where one is welcome to smoke. We prefer that guests not bring pets, but could consider a pet with an increased damage deposit. We appreciate if guests take out the trash and recycling upon leaving- there are bins outside in front of the building for each. More details about the house will be sent after a booking is made.
The apartment is very nice and i really liked the atmosphere. It is situated in a very cool spot in Brooklyn but close Manhattan. I really loved staying here and had everything i needed. Melissa and her partner were very easy to communicate with and everything was arranged quite nicely.
We stayed a week at Melissa and Khaela's apartment. It is surprisingly quiet for being in downtown Brooklyn. Khaela was easily reachable, and the was as described. Also so many different subway lines are within walking distance. I highly reccomend th little sweet cafe, and the taco place next door. Thank you for a great stay!
The apartment was a perfect HQ to explore Brooklyn. Location is great! Access to Manhattan was very easy and quick with numerous subway lines within walking distance of the apartment, but we much prefered exploring the area around the building: Atlantic Avenue, Smith Street, Mile End Deli, Fort Green Flea Market, Prospect Park, etc.
The apartment is exactly as described in the ad, it is spacious, light and it was perfectly clean. It has some of the usual "quirks" of older buildings, such as tricky doors or faucets, but nothing problematic. Plus I have to admit that when the subway runs, it kind of makes the whole house shake, but it's just a normal part of life in NY I guess. It wasn't a big inconvenience.
The booking and checking-in processes were great, no problems whatsoever. The hosts were very understanding and patient about the fact that our bus arrived in New York 1 hour late! We had bath towels and clean linen provided, which is great.
I would definitely stay there again and I recommend this posting. : )
Khaela & Melissa's apartment was perfect for our stay in New York!
Khaela and Ron were really friendly and helpful before and during our visit - they were quick to respond, offered useful advice and were on hand to answer any questions etc.
The apartment is exactly as it looks in the pics - spacious, light, clean and comfortable. The location was excellent: it's close to the subway as well as lots of nice bars and places to eat, plus it felt incredibly safe walking around the area at night.
I'd certainly recommend it & stay again if I returned to NYC!
Melissa, Khaela, and Ron were all very helpful and responsive throughout the booking, check-in, and check-out periods. The apartment is in an extremely convenient location, both for Brooklyn destinations and for trips into Manhattan.
The apartment was impeccably clean when we arrived, and it provided everything we needed for our stay. The bathroom, kitchen, and living areas were all large and well furnished. The building itself is older (as most are in NYC), so it has some of the typical "old building" traits like tricky doors, over-active radiators, and stairwells that could use some love.
Overall, the apartment is a wonderful value, and the hospitality of the hosts and their commitment to cleaning the place between guests makes this one a keeper for Brooklyn trips.
This apartment was a lovely place to stay while visiting New York. It is beautifully decorated and has everything you need to have a comfortable stay. The location is excellent and very convenient to the subway. The hosts were wonderful to communicate with and made sure I had a great stay. I would definitely stay there again!
About the Host, Melissa
My partner and I are artists. We make performances and installations, and frequently travel around the country and abroad for our work. We love living in New York, and taking advantage of all that it has to offer (or as much as we can manage to see, since you could never see it all). We are happy to be able to offer our place to others while we are away, and we've enjoyed traveling with Aribnb in many exceptional locations as well.
