The Space

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
YOUR ROOM
• A clean, freshly painted, well-designed, private medium-sized room located on a separate level of the apartment from our bedroom and living room—so it is very private.

• Full-size bed with new bedding (washed after EVERY guest, of course.) We also have a single air mattress available in case you don't want to sleep with your traveling companion

• Fresh clean towels to use during your stay (as many as you need)

• Air-conditioner

• TV with Apple TV + NETFLIX, & HBOGO (Tons of free movies & TV shows for free.)

• An AMAZING room to get quality sleep after a long day (or night) of trekking around the city.

• Since our apartment is on the garden level, our room does not have a view from the guest room window. So if this is very important to you, you might consider other options. :)

OUR PUP
Pepper is a handsome chihuahua/terrier mix we rescued from a local shelter over three years ago. He will probably leave you alone unless you have a treat handy, but if you get to know him, he'll charm you to pieces.

Guest Access

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
KITCHEN
We have a shelf available for you in the refrigerator, and you are welcome to cook in our small kitchen -- just clean up after. :)

BATHROOM
We have a standard shared, (very clean), bathroom. It features a normal shower & tub. There is also a shelf reserved for you there where you can store all your toiletries. We also provide hotel-style soap, shampoo and toothpaste for you at no additional fee.

OFFICE SPACE
Your room shares the lower level of our apartment with our office, and there is a spare desk, laptop and chair there available for your use at no extra charge.

BACKYARD & BBQ
We have a reserved space in a shared backyard that is a great place to relax with a cup of coffee, a drink, or some food.

LAUNDRY
We have a full five- washer/eight-dryer laundry room in our building. Washing and drying are each $2.50 per load.

LIVING ROOM
The living room is a nice place to unwind and hang with us and Pepper. We have a TV up there with basic cable and Apple TV for free movies and shows.

Interaction with Guests

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
At least one of us, (and Pepper), will be present during your stay, so feel free to ask us anything about what to see, where to eat, or how to get around during your visit. :)

Our apartment has a split-level floor plan, (with your room on a different level from our bedroom and living room), which provides optimal privacy for both us and our guests.

The Neighborhood

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
RESTAURANTS
There are dozens of amazing restaurants within just a few steps of our apartment.

BARS & NIGHTLIFE
While our apartment is very quiet, the surrounding area comes alive at night with a dizzying assortment of bars and dance spots for just about any taste. There are even more options within a 15 minute subway ride.

ENTERTAINMENT
Within .5 miles there are three movie theaters, two off-broadway productions (STOMP & Blue Man Group) and one comedy club. But if a Times Square. show is more your speed, the subway can put you there 20 minutes from walking out our front door

Getting around

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
We are in one of the most (if not the most) convenient areas in NYC in terms of public transit. There are 8 subway lines within a 5 minute walk of our front door— so no matter where you are headed, getting there will be super easy.

TRAVEL TIMES (on Public Transit)
• Times Square: 20 minutes
• Rockefeller Center: 15 minutes
• Central Park: 25 Minutes
• Statue of Liberty Ferry: 20 minutes
• Ground Zero/9-11 Memorial: 20 minutes
• Empire State Building: 20 minutes

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Here are answers to some common questions we are asked by prospective guests:

We are arriving very late or very early, will that be ok?
Yes, that is perfectly fine. :) We are happy to accommodate guests arriving at any time of day. However, if you are arriving early, (before 3pm), and we still have guests from the night before, you will be able to check in, get the keys, and leave your bags— but the room won't be available to occupy until 3pm.

What is the total amount of the reservation?
The price box in the right corner of the listing shows what your total reservation cost will be, not including AirBnb fees. The AirBnb fee is shown below the overall quote. If you want to see how the quote is calculated, click "Book it Now", and details will be on the following page. By clicking "Book it Now" you will be going to the payment page— and won't actually be reserving the room. :)

Do you charge extra for two people?
Nope. Our nightly rate is based on two people sleeping in the room. We only charge extra for a third person— because it would involve them using an air mattress in the room next to the guest room.

Do you charge a cleaning fee or any other extra fees?
We don't charge a cleaning fee, but if you are only staying with us for one night, we do have an additional single-night charge of $25 per reservation (not per person).

  • This is probably one of the best Air BnB experiences I've had. J&K are great hosts who really make ensuring their guests are comfortable and well informed a priority. Apartment is really clean and guest quarters are secluded enough that if you'd like to make it your own place, you essentially can. Also, the location of the apartment is incredible with a short walk to my favorite place in the city (SoHo) and Union Square which can take you anywhere.

  • This was my first time using Airbnb in NY. Stayed at Jason and Kellie's place was extremely delightful. Their place was very clean, and the location was perfect. I only felt sad that I didn't have time to stay longer. Thank you Jason and Kellie!

  • We had such a great experience! My friend and I had never tried airbnb before so we were a little bit hesitant and didn't really know what to expect. We were very pleasantly surprised and highly recommend staying with Jason and Kellie! They were very nice and the apartment itself, as well as the location, was great! Everything was very clean and they were very helpful with any questions we had about the city. Pepper was really cute! We didn't see too much of him, but he was very friendly and came around to say hi a couple of times. We didn't really use the kitchen, living room, or outside patio because we were out sight seeing almost the entire day but it was all very nice! Location was amazing! So many restaurants and bars just around the corner, so if you want to go out at night but don't want to deal with going far and getting a cab or taking a subway, this is perfect! There were great coffee places to have breakfast as well! There was also a great ice cream place right outside of the apartment that we loved! Union station is just a couple blocks down too, which makes it very easy to get to everywhere else!
    Honestly couldn't have picked a better place to stay! Great hosts, great location, and great apartment!

  • J&K were a awesome hosts. The room/bathroom were like on the pictures - nice and clean. We enjoyed our stay really much and had a great time.
    We would ever return to this place. The neighborhood is very cool because you have so much Bars and Restaurants in this area.
    We slept very well in the bed. We really recommend this place.
    Hope to see you again J&K!

  • As everything was new to us: NYC and airbnb, we didn't know what to expect.
    Our room was small but tidy, the airco quite load and the split level means no view at all. But our hosts were very nice and helpful.
    The location was perfect; ideal for visiting Manhatan.

  • We had a great time at J&K's apartment! It is located in a great area: several subway stations just a few minutes away, a lot of bars/restaurants around the corner and a warm atmosphere in the neighborhood.
    We lived in a nice and private room and J&K provided everything we needed (fridge, coffee maschine and many, many other things)! J&K are very helpful and attentive. All issues before and during our stay were totally straightfoward!
    In summary, we can totally recommend a stay at J&K!!! This was our first time using airbnb and we hope that all of our future host are that nice and contribute to a great time in other cities!

    P.S.: Pepper just completed the wonderful experience!

  • Very good situation in town, very clean apartment and room, nice and charming couple and much helpful but split level in this case means no view at all with a very tiny window (not a problem with us going out very early and coming back late)

  • ** HIGHLY RECOMMEND!** I’m an AirBnb host myself and so my standards are pretty high, but I am happy to report that my experience at Jason and Kellie’s place was superb by every measure. They were very helpful and communicative in advance of my stay, answering all my questions and making sure I knew exactly how to get to their place, get the keys, and get situated in their apartment. When I arrived, Jason was there to show me around the apartment and point out little “extras” that I had missed in their listing, (the hotel-style soap, shampoo & toothpaste was very handy!). The apartment itself is exactly as it’s described— and is actually much more private than I thought, since it is on an entirely different level of the apartment from the living room, kitchen, and J&K’s bedroom. The location is fantastic for eating, drinking, and shopping— and getting to all the main tourist attractions was a snap from there. We were able to get to Times Square, Ground Zero, the Brooklyn Bridge, Empire State building, etc., all within 20 minutes or so via subway (which was a quick 5-minute walk away). Definitely a great place to stay, and fantastic hosts.

About
Hello! We are a couple from San Francisco, and have been in Manhattan for almost ten years. We love it here, and find joy in helping other people to discover what it has to offer. One of us is a Dental Hygienist and the other is a Graphic Designer. We have a small dog -- his name is Pepper. Check out our pictures to see what he is all about. We're not biased, but he is likely the best dog who has ever lived. :) Hope you'll come meet us. Cheers, J & K
