  • The Smith

Excellent spot for dinner. Open until midnight or so. A little expensive, but a good menu, and tasty drinks.
3rd Avenue New York NY 10003
  • Village Pourhouse Downtown

Excellent bar for watching American sports. To watch Soccer (football), check out Nevada Smiths on 3rd avenue and 12th st.
3rd Avenue New York NY 10003
  • Stuyvesant St

This street is one of the oldest streets in Manhattan. The street runs diagonally in relation to the City street grid, it is one of the few true east-west streets in Manhattan.
Stuyvesant St New York NY 10003
  • Angel's Share

This place is a semi-secret bar that serves fancy cocktails. Its a great place to get a drink before or after dinner. It is behind an unmarked door at a local sushi restaurant. Ask us how to find it.

  • Ippudo NY

Ippudo has amazing ramen, and has been voted the best noodles in NYC year many times. The line is long during dinner, but you can easily drop in for lunch with no wait at all. We highly recommend it!
4th Ave New York NY 10003-5220
  • Westside Market

Westside Market is a well-stocked grocery market where you can pick up food to cook or pick up a selection of a la carte prepared food items to take with you on a picnic. Open 24/7. Short queues.
    3rd Avenue NY NY 10003
  • Nevada Smiths

Huge Footbal (soccer) bar with 3 floors and lots of TVs. Good draft beer choices and prices are low for the area.
3rd Avenue New York NY 10003
  • Linen Hall

Great for dinner or weekend brunch. Small(ish) menu, but good selections, not too expensive. Its a bar too so it can get crowded after 9 or 10pm sometimes.
    3rd Ave NY NY 10003
  • Veselka

Veselka is one of two typical American diners nearby. It has a wide selection of food, but we prefer it for breakfast, (if the queue at nearby Cafe Orlin is too long).
2nd Avenue New York NY 10003
  • Astor Place Cube

The Cube, is a large outdoor sculpture at Astor Place. The Cube can be spun on its vertical axis— by one strong person, or two a little easier. Its a cool thing to check out on your way downtown.
Astor Pl New York NY 10003
  • Walgreens

A 24-hour drugstore that has a selection of food, medicine, health beauty products. There is also another one nearby at 4th avenue and 14th Street. (Union Square)

  • Cafe Orlin

Excellent breakfast/Brunch. Opens at 9am Monday to Friday, 8:30 on Weekends. Best time to avoid the queues is Monday through Friday, or on the weekend before 10am.
Saint Marks Place New York NY 10003
  • Trader Joe's

Trader Joes is another excellent grocery store— and the one with the best mix of prices and product selection. If you have the patience for the long queues here, it is an excellent option.
East 14th Street New York NY 10003
  • The Famous Cozy Soup 'n' Burger

This is another typical American diner nearby. A good place to get a quick breakfast before heading out, or a late-night snack. Open 24/7.
    Broadway New York NY 10003
  • Whole Foods Market

Whole Foods is a little expensive for us, but many of our guests love it for its wide selection of organic food options. They have groceries and a la carte prepared items.
Union Square South New York NY 10003
  • PDT

Cool speakeasy-style bar. Walk down a few steps from the sidewalk into a hot dog joint called Crif Dogs. Look for the phone booth against the wall to your left and press the buzzer for entry.

  • Union Square Farmer's Market

This is a lovely outdoor food art market. Yummy food ( samples) from up to 140 regional farmers, fishers, and bakers. Open Mon, Wed, Fri and Saturdays.

Absolutely DELICIOUS cocktails. A little expensive, but nice if your budget isnt tight.
East 6th Street New York NY 10009
  • The Garret

Another cool speakeasy-style bar. Go to the 5 Guys located in the West Village and walk past the ordering station to locate a mysterious staircase in the back.
Bleecker St New York NY 10014
  • Back Room

Entryway: Look for a sign on a metal gate that reads “Lower East Side Toy Co.”Enter, go through an alley, climb a couple of metal steps to an unmarked door, and if there’s no bouncer, let yourself in.
