  • The Gorilla Room in We'Lo House was a lovely place to stay in Kampala: the room was generously proportioned, extremely clean and nicely decked-out. The other amenities were as described. Note that the Gorilla Room is one of three rooms in a ground-floor apartment of a three-storey apartment block. The neighbourhood was a little out of town, but well connected, comfortable and extremely safe (with the exception of missing sidewalks on the road!). The hosts - whom we did not get a chance to meet, sadly - were responsive and attentive; they sound like lovely people but they do not live in the apartment. If you're staying in Kampala for a short or a longer time, this would be a good choice, although you are more likely to interact with the people staying in the other rooms than the hosts themselves.

  • Location: safe residential neighborhood, nice bigger mall in reach (15 mins walk). Boda-bodas easy to catch, bigger matatu stop a 10 mins walk away. Room: quite nice—I didn’t have the Zebra room but the Elephant one, and was even so lucky to have the corresponding guest house all for myself. So, that was awesome :) Host: very available and very helpful. Thank you!

  • Angella was a big help. The gorilla room was very comfortable and perfect for my needs. I spent one night in one of the other rooms in the same house, and the gorilla room is worth the extra money.

  • I chose this house based on the friendly looking pair of ladies, and in person, they were just as great! I spent almost two months with Hope and Angela, and it started to feel like home. They were friendly and helpful, consoling me when my research wasn't going too well. The house was clean, comfortable and safe, with all the shops in walking distance. They were quick to recommend a boda driver/ taxi when I needed to go further. I have made new friends in Uganda, it wasn't just another place to sleep. Thanks for a great stay!

  • Crested room is a huge and nice room. Nice and clean house. Great neighborhood (supermarket and shops). But the best of this house are Hope and Angella: great people, very funny and helpful. Thank you again for your hospitality and I hope to see you again very soon.

  • My children and I so enjoyed our stay at Hope and Angella's house. We arrived very tired in the middle of the night after a full day of travelling and Hope very graciously welcomed us and helped us feel very at home despite the awful timing!

I stayed with my two very young and active children - it was the perfect place for us. There was room in the garden for the children to run around, it is located just behind a very nice supermarket where you can find practically anything you need and it was really nice (and far cheaper) to be able to prepare our own meals in the kitchen while we were staying.

Hope and Angella are the perfect hosts and We'Lo house is highly recommended, we hope to stay with them again one day. Thank you so much for making our stay such a pleasure!

  • I had an absolutely wonderful time at We'lo House. Hope and Angella created an unbelievably warm and comfortable environment. When I first arrived in Africa, I was very tired and slightly lonely, but this house was such a safe, cozy space that I came to just love coming home and greeting their little dog, and relaxing using their very reasonably priced wifi. The Kangaroo Room is particularly nice because it started to feel like my own little house. For squeamish people like myself, I would also like to highlight the fact that I did not see a single scary bug, or mosquitos or anything like that in the Kangaroo Room. I just kept my door closed and kept my space clean, and Hope and Angella's house helper did a very excellent cleaning job while I was there as well. They also provide bottled cooler water, again for a very reasonable price, that made life a lot easier than having to buy gallons and gallons of drinking water.

    HIGHLY recommend.

  • My wife and I stayed with Hope and Angela for our time in Uganda. We had a fabulous time and appreciate the hospitality from all the staff at the WE'LO House. They treated us like family and we had an awesome time in country. I highly recommend them for anybody traveling to Uganda. The house was in a very safe area and close enough to walk to get anything from town.

  • Hope and Angella were wonderful, very friendly and accommodating people. They were even able to find a room for my friend who came to Kampala to meet us at short notice.

The house is in a good location and it has everything that you need. Warmly recommend to anything thinking of coming here.
