Treehouse in the Wine Country

Treehouse - Private room · E Hwy, St Helena, CA 94574, United States

The Space

We have a cozy fun treehouse with amazing views and a deck for having coffee in the mornings. If you want to feel like a child again with that spirit of adventure this is the place for it.

The treehouse is located within a 42 acre property with a private gate in what we call a "mountain retreat". We're up in the mountains of Saint Helena. We have a big saltwater swimming pool with mountain views.

We had to remodel and upgrade the interior of the "treehouse" recently. It now has a full size bed, a skylight and new floors since, the tree that used go through the middle of it died and had to be removed.

There is an additional charge of $25 for a second person.

The bathroom/shower is shared if we have other guests at the Loft, and it is available at the second floor of the "Barn" not too far away.

A "continental" breakfast in the morning is included. Which is usually cereals and fruit when available.

This is really a TREE HOUSE not a house on a tree. It has no electricity. We have a power bar in the barn for charging your devices if needed. We also provide a battery operated lantern and flash light.

We're in the middle of may acres of wilderness and there are creatures around so, if you're uncomfortable encountering spiders, bugs, lizards, frogs, bats, very rare but, occasional snake, etc., spending the night in the second story of a barn or a treehouse may not be the best choice.

We started bee hives on the property which is a common and generally harmless farm activity but, if you are allergic to them, it is certainly a consideration that needs to be done.

We are 15 miles (about 1/2 hr. drive) from downtown St. Helena, which is full of great shops and restaurants.

We are also close to great wineries and two fantastic lakes, Lake Berryessa and Lake Hennessey, which have great hiking trails, fishing and boating.

  • Loved this quaint little treehouse! Located on a great property, with everyhting needed and close to the vienyards. Wendi was very nice showing us around and chatting about her two pups (who are adorable!). We loved sleeping in this space, very clean and cozy, with great views of the sunrise.

  • The tree house was newly renovated when we stayed there. Super cozy! Loved being there with my girlfriend and being able to dip over to wineries so easily. Wendy, Carlos, Mr. Big, and Gus were great hosts :)

  • We have nothing but the nicest things to say about our time with Wendi & Carlos staying in their lovely treehouse. Our hosts were so gracious and provided everything we needed. Everything was better than expected and the treehouse was the perfect adventure we were looking for for our escape from the city. The bathroom facilities in the loft were wonderful and spotless and the view from the treehouse can't be beat. As a bonus, the treehouse has been recently upgraded and now has a full size bed, making it perfect for couples. If you are visiting outside of the summer months, make sure you bring your wool socks as it gets chilly at night.

  • My bf and I had a great stay with Wendi and Carlos. Their property is beautiful, and their dogs are adorable. The treehouse itself is very cozy, one room, nothing fancy. The bed is a little on the small size for 2 people, but we managed. We had no problem staying warm at night. Their property is about 15 minutes from town and the stars at night are amazing. The pool is not heated, so we were not able to enjoy it (it was too cold for me). The breakfast was simple, but a nice touch. We appreciated that they had rice milk as an option, as we are almost vegan. They get their water from a well, and because of this it can have a lot of sulfur in it at times. When we stayed the water smelled very strong and because of this we did not shower (although we could have). Other than that, we had a great stay. Carlos and Wendi are beautiful people and we are so grateful that they shared their home and a piece of their world with us. :) Would recommend to anyone who doesn't mind "roughing" it for a night or two and to people who want to get away from it all.

  • Just what I needed to get away for a few days. Wendi and Carlos were great hosts. If you're looking for a rustic stay, this is for you.

  • Wendi and Carlos were very warm and welcoming hosts, and the property is gorgeous. They are also very talented artists and have some of their art on display on the property (and in process in the barn). Their dogs Gus and Mr. Big were really cute and friendly as well. I highly recommend!

  • Carlos and Wendi were really sweet -- we just got a little unlucky with our timing! The treehouse is really nifty; I'd definitely recommend it. We were just concluding a road trip to Portland and back, and stayed in the treehouse for a single night.

It was a perfect place for our needs; we got to clean up, shower, and rest a little bit before a fancy dinner to conclude the trip =). Unfortunately, we got struck by a big windstorm during the night, which is really uncommon! It was pretty loud in the tree house, with whipping branches and shifting boards creaking -- starting around 3 am.

Even though we were comfy and warm, it was a hair difficult to sleep, so we packed up and left early, unfortunately missing Carlos and Wendi in the morning. However, they were so sweet and welcoming (not to mention flexible on arrival timing) that we'll definitely come back next time we need to stay in the area! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the wonderful treehouse experience.

Happy napa-ing, and thanks Carlos & Wendi!

  • Wendi and Carlos (and Mr big and Gus!) were very friendly and helpful hosts with lots of tips for things to do. We really enjoyed our time there and will be coming back to stay in the tree house next time we visit!

  • Wendi and Carlos are the perfect hosts! Their place was so darling and they couldn't have been more accommodating as well as welcoming. The treehouse is definitely cozy, and decorated in a pirate theme. The pool, yard, pups and everything in between was exactly what we were expecting and more! The perfect over night get away for a weekend of wine tasting! We cannot wait to come back!

  • Had a great time! Property was very easy to find and the drive to town is an enjoyable scenic one. The treehouse was super warm at night too!! Nice and quiet, enjoyed talking to Wendi in the morning before we left. Would stay again :) Thanks!

About
Carlos and I are warm and friendly hosts and also artists. We make ceramic pottery and sculpture. We also have day jobs too so we are often busy. We have lived here in St. Helena for a year now and have made friends with our neighbors who have wineries nearby. Carlos is from Mexico city and speaks fluent Spanish. I speak a little Spanish too.
