If the price you are seeing for the villa for seems too good to be true it is because I will basically give it away on slow or last minute nights just to have it occupied. My fixed costs are the same so it is better for me to make a little bit of money than nothing:-)
During peak season the villa rents for $295 per night, so you can figure out the deal you are getting.
Really the best in Manuel Antonio. The villa is located in the most exclusive, private, residential area in Manuel Antonio. Plus the villa has lots of surrounding property, so you can't see the neighbors! Some of the best restaurants and hotels are located less than a 5 minute walk away. The beach is a 10-15 minute walk. The town of Quepos is 3 miles to the north, and is home to a beautiful new marina.
Partial ocean views as the rainforest comes right up to the floor to ceiling windows. If you don't see monkeys or sloths you probably aren't looking.
The 2,000 square foot, 3 bedroom home is divided into two floors. The materials used are glass, granite, custom ceramic tiles, stucco, stainless steel, and aluminum.
The entry level features a great room with floor to ceiling windows with spectacular views of the treetop canopy, and partial views of the Pacific Ocean and Manuel Antonio national park. There is a TV, iPod dock, 2 sofas, 6 seat dining area, half bath, a gourmet kitchen with granite, stainless steel , custom cabinets, refrigerator, espresso maker, a restaurant quality oven and 6 burner stove.
Outside there is a large yoga deck that is shared with Spa Uno. Yoga mats are complementary and private classes can be arranged.
The entrance level houses the master suite with king size bed, walk in closet, and en-suite bathroom with shower. The lower level has two bedrooms with queen size beds, one has a covered deck, and they share a bathroom with shower.
Wildlife and Fauna
The wildlife here is abundant. Monkeys are almost daily visitors, and you can count on seeing at least one of the three local species, be it the Titi's, Howlers, or White Faced. Small mammals such as sloth and kinkajoo's, multitudes of butterflies, and exotic birds to thrill an ornithologist are all included at no charge!
The reception staff at Spa Uno will be you concierge during your stay. Not only can they arrange tours, transportation, and in-house spa services, but they are also very knowledgeable of the Manuel Antonio area and can answer any questions you may have. They are onsite everyday from 8a.m. to 8p.m. and will help you with anything you need, from getting a taxi to ordering groceries, they have you covered.
The villa also has two housekeepers who care for the home 6 days a week and will see to all of your cleaning needs, including personal laundry.
I tell you (email hidden)is was an amazing location. We had our own "personal" sloth on the trees outside for the two days we stayed here. We were visited a couple of times by a raucous group of 6 or 7 white faced monkeys, as well as different beautiful birds. The location is what really made this worth it. A few of the appliances need some TLC (dishwasher does not work, oven is hard to figure out, wear and tear on the sheets, some light bulbs needed, missing basics like a spatula) It really is a pretty fancy place...just needs a little attention. But...overall, this is a terrific deal. You are very close to the action in Manuel Antonio, but not so close...this is an escape and we loved it.
This was our second time at the former Uno Spa and we were just as impressed a year later as we were the year before. The facility is excellent for a larger group in either the upstairs or the downstairs (we have stayed in both). One thing is for certain, the monkeys will come! This is always the highlight to our visits to Costa Rica. Mykel, the caretaker, is responsive and helpful. We have nothing but good things to say about this (email hidden)d we will be back for the third time in the near future.
The villa house was perfect for our group of 5 guys. It was located minutes away from the Manuel Antonio national park which has gorgeous beaches and was minutes away from the other public beaches in the area. The host Maykol met us nearby to show us how to get to the property, and offered to help out if we needed anything. The property has an upstairs and a downstairs with a master bedroom and two regular rooms. The master bedroom and one regular bedroom have AC units which both worked, and one bedroom and the living room did not. For us, this wasn't much of a problem - I actually slept in the living room on the couch for the view. There was also a maid service that helped tidy up the place while we were gone which was a nice touch. Would definitely consider coming back!
Our experience was relatively ok. The location is ideal, right in the top of the hill 2 min away from restaurants, bars, supermarket, and 5 min by car from the wonderful beaches of Manuel Antonio. It's also in a gated community, which adds a sense of security (not that we felt unsafe). The place is very spacious for 5 people, and the large windows offer a good view on the jungle and occasional monkeys and birds. We also very much appreciated the convenience the washer/drier machines, and the fully equipped kitchen. Besides, both Adam (owner) and Maykol (property manager) were very friendly. So friendly that I'm sure they will take the following notes seriously and will quickly fix the few issues we noticed.
Our first impression was not very positive: sheets, pillow cases and towels are stained and have holes (clearly need to invest in new linen). The sofa is torn down (needs a cover to hide the terrible condition). The dish washer wasn't working. The kitchen cabinets had a mold smell.
The main issue was probably with the so called "housekeeping". The coffee machine and fridge were dirty when we arrived, and there was no spare toilet paper available. I was surprised to see that the maid only swept the living room floor, cleaned up the kitchen, and threw just a couple of towels in the washing machine. She never entered our bedroom or bathroom.
Also, the site needs to be updated: the floor above is not anymore a SPA with the conveniency of a concierge. Instead, it is rented to people just like you. Unfortunately our neighbors had kids running and jumping every evening and morning.
Overall, provided I had confirmation that these problems have been taken care of, I would probably recommend the place.
My experience in this location was ok. First, Maykol the property manager told us that we had to check-in before the time that was posted on the instructions I got in an email from the owner. He insisted that we had to check-in before 5pm when the instructions I had received in the email allowed check-in until 8pm. During our stay at the villa, he never called or emailed to check in on us. He also pitched his massage services to us when we arrived, which he never followed up on. I have been trained in providing the best customer service, and I did not feel like I got the best customer service I could from Maykol.
The actual villa was comfortable and well-equipped. We had AC in all of the rooms, but the appliances such as the fridge and oven were very run down. The couches had tears in them and the TV was very outdated. There were no recycling bins available for me to live up to the eco-tourist motto that is so prevalent in Costa Rica. The wi-fi was very slow. There are only sheets on the bed, no blanket or comforter, which has small tears and stains on them.
I did appreciate the fact that the villa had a washer and dryer and detergent and softener available. Also, the rooms were very big and there was enough space to spread out our things. The construction of the villa was interesting. You have to go down two flights of stairs to get into the first floor of the villa (which has the master bedroom) and then another flight of stairs that lead down to the two other bedrooms. We had two suitcases each in my party, so it was kind of a hassle to have to carry them up and down so many stairs (Maykol offers limited help with carrying your suitcases).
I think the best part of this place was the location. If you get up early enough you can see white-faced monkeys frolicking around in the surrounding trees. You can also hear howler monkeys at around 5am.
Our time and experience at this villa was It was ok, but I would definitely look into a different space the next time I am in Costa Rica.
Great Experience! Apartment location was perfect, check in and out was easy, apartment staff was super helpful and friendly. Overall a great stay.
Major problems with air-conditioners daily! The caretaker is very good and responsive. The owner did not even call to see how we are doing inspite of reporting multiple problems! We were forced into reserving for 5 days even though we wanted the apartment for 3 days. We did leave after 3 days (we got tired of daily issues here). Was not a good experience. It is close to several good restaurants and bars though.
It is true I make it a rule to have my house manager deal directly with any guest problems in order to have the problems fixed as quickly as possible.
As soon as I received the message that there was a problem with the air-conditioning unit I informed the house manager and he had a technician at the house within the hour.
Unfortunately the second air conditioner decided to also have problems on Vinny's second day in the house. And again we had a technician there quickly and it was repaired that same day.
Problems can and do arise from time to time but we are always responsive and attempt to fix the issue as quickly as possible.
We loved the villa! We stayed for a week and enjoyed every minute! It's beautiful and clean, the location is awesome!! I would def recommend it!
My friends and I were truly amazed at how nice the place was for the money we paid. It was 6 of us staying at this villa, which is really spacious and roomy. We had some minor issues with the fridge but Adam and Maykol were extremely kind when solving this. Very close to the National Park, to a supermarket, nice restaurants. This is just a very good option for a long stay at Manuel Antonio.
