  • Hi, we actually travel a lot around the world, but we are a first timer in Denmark and in Copenhagen.
Before we get in Copenhagen, we thought Copenhagen is more or less, will be similar to Stockholm, but as said in Lonely Planet, it is edgier and wordlier, also busier.

We picked Norrebro out of the blue because we simply don't know anything about CPH before, but in my opinion, if you're looking for a more clean city life kind of place, it's no the place.

Norrebro is a bit dirty, kebab shops area, Lebanese shops and restaurants all around, and sometimes can be a bit, meh... but the cemetery in front of Kira's apartment is beautiful and very dreamy like, you can visit Hans Christian Andersen and Kierkegaard there. By bus 5A it's also easy to get around.

The downside of our stay were that we need to leave much early when our flight is 8PM, but I think you need to coordinate with your host earlier, but another thing is that when Sergej (Kira's husband) told us that the standard check out time is 10AM, It's way too early. We are in hospitality business as well, we own a 4 stars hotel in Bali island, and internationally, check out time is 11AM with an optional late check out, so 10 AM might a bit early for vacation-ers.

Maybe that's it, and I really wish that Sergej can be more hospitable by helping when it comes to my 60 years old parents taking their heavy luggages by stairs to the 3rd floor, since I am helping the 2 others with their luggages, it's not written rules, but it's just hospitality.

Overall the apartment is clean, TV can't be watched in most of the time since the signal is bad, 30 mins by foot to city central, 5 mins to supermarket (beware that in Denmark, restaurants are closed early)

The apartment of Kira and Serge is very well organized and allows 6-7 people to sleep in acceptable conditions.
It is conveniently located right next to a bus that takes you to the center (not used). Everything can be done on foot in Copenhagen ... if you're brave.
The apartment is clean has a fully equipped kitchen).
It is very quiet courtyard, less on the windows overlooking the street ... but nothing dramatic, I think.
I recommend it to anyone who wants a pleasant stay in Copenhagen.

  • Kira's apartment in Copenhagen is nice and convenient. It is clean and stylish. The outside of the building in the Norrebro neighborhood is a bit ...meh...there's a lot of grafiti in Copenhagen... but then again, there are kebab shops every two feet which my eldest son loved. There are food shops and restaurants everywhere nearby, but keep in mind that these are mostly neighborhood places. I wouldn't expect to do much in Norrebro, but there are places that looked like fun to dine in if you wanted a fairly quiet night in close to the apartment. I can't comment on the food at many places because most were closed while we were there from Dec. 24-27. My wife did go to the place Kira recommended and liked it. The 5A bus is one you'll get very used to and it is actually very convenient for getting around Coepnhagen in general, not just Norrebro. We used it extensively. We were able to get from Copenhagen Airport to he apartment by public transport (Metro to Norreport and 5A Husum Torv to the apartment) with ease. There were six of us in our party and I wouldn't stay at this apartment again with that number as we all felt a bit cramped. The setup is: (a) 1 true bedroom with up to three beds, (b) a parlor divided from another parlor by a curtain and that has two beds an then (c) there is a sofa bed. You can fit six, but four would be much better. I would recommend for no more than 4.
The kitchen was small but very useable. We cooked Christmas Dinner in it. It is fully equipped.
The Washing machine works well, but does not dry. This comment is mainly directed at US people who may not be used to these European washing machines that « dry » by centrifuge. I would expect most people who've stayed in European city apartments to know how this works.
Kira and Sergey were good accomodating hosts, they delivered what they promised, were easy to communicate with, and I have no complaints about them at all. On the contrary, one should feel comfortable renting their apartment.

  • A great spot for seeing the sights. A nice gentle 25 minute walk to the centre, or very easy on the bus.
A very clean, comfortable and furnished apartment with everything you need for a great holiday.
A good welcome from the hosts, and the Oyster and Grill restaurant recommendation is a must.
