Renovated 1861 home, clean, carefully decorated with equestrian feel. Bed has a down comforter and quality linens. Beautiful living area(s) + screened-in porch. It is in a quiet neighborhood surrounded by forest preserves...biking, riding, walking.

The space

Great place for weekend getaway out of the city...just relax and kickback. There are many things to do close by - arrangements can be made to take horseback riding lessons at Dunham Woods Riding Club or have a great lunch at a hostess recommendation. If you are showing your horse at Lamplight it is 2 miles away. If you are a spectator at the horse show, many this summer to go to. Great jumping off spot to go biking or walking on the Prairie Path. Very quiet place to stay.

Guest access

The upstairs has a clean beautiful bedroom with closet with full bathroom available. Bathroom has full tub and shower. The living room and screened in porch and yard are for your enjoyment. The family room is also available with flat screen TV ( Apple TV with all available channels) The kitchen is open for your use to make coffee or food. Understand I have indoor - outdoor cats that mostly keep to themselves.

Interaction with guests

I will meet you and give you the key. I have my own company but work from home sometimes. I am happy to offer suggestions on places to eat or go to. I am an oil painter and have a studio in the house. I keep to myself most times, but happy to chat if I have time or you wish to talk to me.

Other things to note

Wayne is a historic area and very equestrian. It is 32 miles directly west of Chicago. It is 30 minutes west of O'Hare airport and 45 minutes from Midway airport. Trains are 10 minutes. Biking paths are steps away and go for miles.

Judy was the perfect hostess. She was available when I needed her but didn't demand a lot of interaction and I was able to come and go as I pleased. Her house is large enough and she made me feel right at home, offering me the run of the place. The wifi worked great, she has a huge yard and flower gardens and lovely screened in porch. Wayne is a tiny village -- my family is from there and that was the reason for my visit. It is known by every Chicagoan I've ever met as "horse country." I think equestrian event visitors are the majority of Judy's guests. Wayne is so small, in fact, there are no restaurants and you have to drive 3 miles to purchase a bottle of water. Just saying this so that people who read the review understand the location. St. Charles is nearby and has lots of restaurants, a Target, grocery stores, etc. Wayne has not changed since my mother was a child and she was born there in 1923. If you want to visit a place that really has white picket fences, this is the place. There are plenty of hiking/biking/bridle trails. Nearby Pratt's Wayne Woods Forest Preserve has fishing and hiking and campsites and benches to just sit and look at the lake. All in all, Wayne is a great place to unwind. So, if this is the experience you are looking for, I encourage you to stay with Judy. I had a private bathroom, the bedroom was comfortable, the bed was great, and I was greeted with empty drawers and an empty closet. I think the drawers and closet tell you that she is thinking about her guests. One caveat: when Judy tells you she makes her coffee strong, she is not lying. It's pitch black, your spoon will stand up in the cup kind of strong. I am sure she would let you make your own coffee to your own tastes, though.

My daughter and I loved your lovely historic home nestled in the heart of Wayne, just minutes from the horseshow grounds. You are so kind and thoughtful, making our stay so comfortable and welcoming. We hope to see you again next year.

This is a great alternative to hotels accomodation, for those who enjoy experiencing cozier atmosphere. Judys house is located conveniently close to St Charles but in the same time secluded area of Wayne a very peaceful town in the vecinity of St Charles. The place features a very spacious full bathroom with tub and seperate shower, only for your use, as a guest. Bedroom bad is very welcoming and pillows very confortable. Clean, quiet and in the middle of nature, Judy's house is a very comfortable place to come back to!

Judy greeted us warmly and was available to answer any questions. She gave us a list of local restaurants and the WiFi password. The property was not exactly as pictured. It has lovely flowers, but the property is looking a bit overgrown and in need of some maintenance. The location is very quiet and was very close to the family gathering we were attending. We chose this property for its proximity to our event and that criteria was not a disappointment. We did notice the property was close to railroad tracks, but during our stay, we did not hear a train.

Response from Judy:
I am sorry you found it not to your liking, Julie. It did not seem like that when you were here. This is my home. Accommodations were made on a Holiday weekend for both couples ( which I do not normally do). You are extremely critical of my very beautiful space. It is exactly as photographed, and exactly as described. I am sorry you did not see it that way. It makes me wonder just what kind of expectations you have.

I had a lovely stay at Judy's. She is a warm and welcoming host who makes you feel right at home. The bedroom is small and accommodating with a large private bathroom right next door. I very much appreciated the comfy bed and nice linens. A bike/pedestrian path located a few steps away from Judy's home offers the opportunity to take in the local flora and fauna of this beautiful area. The location is a short drive to downtown St Charles. I highly recommend if you are planning to visit this area.

I booked this stay for a friend. She had no idea airbnb existed let alone how to book. The hostess was very accommodating even when things got late the first night. I must say it's difficult traveling with juvenile equines on their first trip to a show.

Business woman with husband, we are fun loving, love horses, animals, flowers and all of nature. Lots of friends close by.

We are around to chat most mornings... but often we are working or working on a painting in the Studio.

Helpful with local information and suggestions of restaurants, etc. We keep to ourselves at other times. We like quiet a lot of the time.
