This is a well appointed century home within walking distance to downtown St Catharines for access to a variety of restaurants and pubs. It is only a 15 minute drive to Niagara Falls and a 20 minute drive to Niagara on the Lake, a lovely historical town and home of the world famous Shaw Festival for professional theatre. (Public transportation is also available.) We are in the heart of wine country with almost 100 wineries, most of which have tours and tastings, in the immediate vicinity. The Welland Canal which passes right through the city also makes for a very interesting visit as you can watch huge shipping vessels 'cllimb' the locks as they travel through the Great Lakes. Toronto, a large cosmopolitan city, is just over an hour away.
Guests would have access to the bright sunroom for watching TV, perhaps playing with the Wii or just relaxing. They are also welcome to use the kitchen facilities and In warm weather there is a screened in porch which is lovely for enjoying a bug free meal. WiFi is available. There is off road parking as well. Breakfast could be self catered or prepared.
I have three bedrooms so would be able to accommodate up to 5 guests.
The double room on the second floor has an antique bed with a custom made mattress adorned with a handmade Mennonite quilt. Facing east means lots of morning sunshine. The bathroom would be shared by occupants of the queen room.
The queen room on the second floor has a very comfortable queen bed and is a Florida-like coral and white decor. The bathroom would be shared by occupants of the double room.
The single room on the main floor has the advantage of having a private bathroom.
I regret that my home is not suitable for young children.
We had a great stay at Barbara's place. She was very kind, made us good breakfast and gave us some great tips of activities in the area. The room was cosy. The place is right in the center of St Catharines, and although there are not too many things to do around there for young people we had a lot of fun.
Barbara is one of the nicest host I have ever had. The room she prepare for us is nice and clean. The best thing is that she is very nice and considerate. She wished me "Happy Birthday" and offered great breakfast to us for free. I will for sure recommend her place to anyone who want to stay in St. Catharines.
It was so wonderful stay.
I really recomend this house.
So clean, comfy ,quiet.
I had the privilege of staying at Barbara's home. Barbara was ready for me upon arrival. She showed me my room, which looked exactly like the photos. The bed was extremely comfortable with a memory foam mattress topper.
The breakfast she served me was delicious and we had a ton to talk about. I wish I could have stayed longer, and intend on returning soon!!
Barbara was the best host that I have yet through AirBnB. Her house is lovely, was a very gracious host and was willing to go above and beyond expectations to make my stay in St. Catherines a very pleasant one.
Barbara was an extremely gracious and kind host. The house and room were lovely and a very short drive to Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake. A great experience.
This was our first time using airbnb and Barbara made it easy for us. She was very eager to answer all of our questions to help make our stay great and worry free. We came in really late that night because we spent our New Year's Eve out, and she had no problem about us coming in late. The following morning, there's a hearty breakfast waiting for us even tho it is not necessary, but she still made it for us anyway! We had a short chat while eating and she gave us suggestions and advices on where else to go and visit. We highly recommend staying at her place.
It was a great experience staying at Barb's place in St. Catharine's. We were looking for a break and we got exactly what we needed. A great night's sleep in a comfy bed, a warm shower the next morning and an excellent hot breakfast. We would be happy to return again sometime :)
Barbara was really friendly and helpful! She picked us up from the bus station and also offerd us to drive us back. The bus stop is really close (just 5-10 Minutes walk). She gave us a lot of useful tips and tryed to help us planning everything. We also loved her cats!! :)
The breakfast was good, bagels, eggs and even fresh fruit! We would stay there again.
Barbara was a wonderful host. She welcomed us in on short notice, was accommodating on arrival timing, and gave us a great dinner restaurant recommendation. We were sad to have to leave so early, and miss out on the pleasant breakfast-time conversation.
Room is just as shown, comfortable and quiet.
