Historic, home with original Arts & Crafts woodwork, in the heart of town. Used as a boarding house during the depression, this big, old home is enjoying a revival. Come make yourself at home.

Perfect for Holidays, family reunions, graduations, small weddings etc.

The space
Unique home in the heart of Giles County; the first owner was William Bane Snidow, the 1st Commonwealth's attorney from Giles County. The home stayed in his family until the 70's when it was purchased by Dr. Joe McGuire, who made may additions & upgrades. We are only the 3rd owners in 116 years! The original Craftsman woodwork is intact and the furnishings are also from this period/school of design. Come make yourself at home in this historic & well-loved home.

Guest access
This first floor bedroom (originally Mr. Bane's law office) is furnished with period waterfall front furniture, a table & chairs and an armchair. An electric fireplace provides ambiance & extra heat and a ceiling fan provides additional cooling. It adjoins a large private bathroom with a double sink and large shower. Small Refrigerator/freezer & microwave. Private entrance off main foyer.

Common areas include:
-Dining room with guest refrigerator & microwave plus glasses, plates, flatware, etc. Coffee & tea are always available.
-During nice weather, you may want to sit on the patio or one of the expansive porches. There are picnic tables, swings, grape arbors scattered about the property and games such as bocce ball & croquet available.
-Living Room: During cold or rainy weather play music on the piano or through speakers with aux cord) , books, puzzles and board games.
-Foyer: Arm Chairs in front of a candle lit fireplace
-Walking distance to grocery stores & restaurants, laundromat, outdoor municipal pool, massage, post office, outfitter & the Appalachian Trail!

Other things to note
The fire department sometimes uses a siren to call the volunteers. Don't worry; it's not a tornado warning!

The travel bug bit me on my first trip to Spain in 8th grade. I went on to study Spanish & Social Sciences, spending a summer volunteering in Mexico and doing medical interpreting. I have also been on my share of regular vacations and tours, but my favorite trips are always the ones where I get to stay with regular people in a regular community, rather than in a tourist area, but it's not always easy to do that in an area where you don't already have a connection. Air BnB helps make those connections : ) The biggest surprise to me has been how much I have learned, not from traveling, but from hosting. Air BnB has brought people from all over the world to my little, rural corner of SW Virginia. Having grownup in Chicago, I developed a fascination with culture; where and how people live and why. I teach high school Spanish and am always on the look out for opportunities to travel and explore, especially Spanish-speaking destinations. I like to hike and kayak and there are plenty of opportunities to do both, here in the New River Valley. I enjoy live music and craft beer and have a few, nearby, favorite spots for both!
