Convenient to all of Santa Barbara
I would stay here again. The host kept the place nice and clean. I liked that he provides you with a parking permit so you can park nearby the property.
The good: place is in a great location. You can walk to many restaurants, coffee shops, etc. It's a cute place. The bad: I found the place unclean. The bed linens and towels had stains. The floors were quite dirty and made my white socks black. The host did not respond to my concerns, hence it was not resolved during my stay (clean linens etc). At this point, the issue has still not been resolved.
Cozy space. Pictures are a bit deceiving - the house looks more lived in than shown, but GREAT location that can't be beat. Was very clean, has a beachy feel with a lawn in front and places to sit outside. Didn't have a pot to cook spaghetti in, but we left one there for future use. Not ample space to hang out, but king size beds are comfy and will suffice for lounging area. Lastly, note that the wifi code is Mendez420....with a capital M!
We had a lovely stay in this Santa Barbara Cottage. We made a reservation about a week in advance for a day trip the following weekend, unfortunately we were unable to go the day we scheduled and contacted him in advance to see if we could come a different day instead. Fortunately he said this was no problem since he did not have a reservation for that day!
The location was awesome close to town and easy access to the highway. It was small but the beds were very comfortable and although the bathroom was a little inconvenient being in one of the rooms, it wasn't a problem for one night. At least if you wanted privacy there was a door to shut between the two rooms.
Also, there was a guest parking pass so we were able to use it for parking when going to the wineries in town. It was very easy to find street parking directly in front of the property.
The rental was accurate from the pictures and description for the most part. The inside is darker (due to trees) and older looking than pictured. Our stay was fine, the rental served its purpose; but there were a number of small things that were not ideal.
The host was not super communicative. After sending 2 emails to 2 different contact addresses and receiving no response, it took a text message to get information on getting into the rental the night before our arrival.
The 1 bathroom is located in a bedroom that you can only get to from the 2nd bedroom. This makes sleeping and using the restroom interesting for those who prefer privacy. While this is mentioned in the reviews, it should be acknowledged in the actual description. It also has no fan, a window in the shower, no bathmat for stepping out of the shower and had hand sanitizer in place of hand soap.
It was exceptionally cold in Santa Barbara during our stay and trying to figure out the heat wasn't easy as it was in celsius didn't seem to work properly.
We ran out of toilet paper and paper towels during our stay and couldn't find any, so we had to buy some.
The neighbors were loud during our entire stay, either doing loud yardwork or having an argument on the street each morning. As the house is old, its not well insulated and you hear everything going on outside. The neighbor's house is also EXTREMELY close.
There were a few positives, the parking permit provided is a huge help as otherwise you would have to move your car constantly. Also, the beds were pretty comfortable. And the location for us was perfect.
Again, most of the issues are minor, but all of them coupled together made our stay a little less enjoyable.
Great location close to State street. Two very comfortable king size beds. Check in was easy. When we had a problem Rafael came over immediately to help. Thanks!
My family stayed here for a wedding over Labor Day weekend. Because of the holiday, most of the hotels were already booked or very pricey. This was a great option, and nice that it could accommodate 5 people (unlike having to book 3 different hotel rooms). Great, walkable location to downtown. Everything we needed.
