Lovely spacious flat with own entrance, very close to shops, beach and train station. Quirky and comfy, with woodburning stoves, it sleeps 6. The master bedroom makes it great for a couple but its also good for families.
Welcome to our retreat in lovely St Leonard's. You have an entire 2 bedroom flat at your disposal with its own private entrance. The master room has a double bed and the second room has 2 bunk beds sleeping 4 singles, so the flat can accommodate 6 in total without compromise. We also have a travel cot available if you need one. All bedding is pure cotton and the towels are all good quality too. The rooms are furnished with retro pieces and knick knacks which we have picked up in the local area providing plenty of character (website hidden) the rear is a terrace, for evening BBQs or you can drink tea (or G&T) in the sunny front garden. There is a wood burning stove in the lounge and another stove which takes smokeless fuel in the rear room, so this is a cosy retreat all year round. We are continuing to work on the interiors and have plans for the kitchen which we have not been able to realise yet. We also respond to feedback - so if there is anything guests think can improve the experience we will act on that as soon as we reasonably can. We can now even boast a recently refurbished bathroom.
The flat is a 7 minute walk from the station (which has a direct line to London) and a 7 minute downhill stroll to the beach (you can see the sea from the front gate). There is also free on-street parking right outside if you do want to drive.
Down the road are quirky shops full of vintage and retro fare, antiques, haberdashery, art galleries, cafes........ and that is just St Leonard's itself. Along the seafront is Hastings and a little further is the Old Town with its bustling vintage shops and fishing huts plus loads of cafes and restaurants and the newly opened Jerwood Gallery.
Year round there is plenty to do: Springtime walks through the bluebell woods at Battle or Brede.
Beach in the summer.
September Hastings hosts "Coastal Currents' a festival of visual arts that infiltrates most cafes, shops and galleries as well as less likely sites such as the seafront - anything is possible. September is also the month for the annual Seafood Festival.
October is when the Hasting's Bonfire night is held.
Autumnal walks in Hastings Country Park (amazing cliff top views across the channel).
If the blustery walks are not for you there are plenty of shops cafes and amusements to retreat to as well as galleries, including the Jerwood Hastings and De La Warr Pavillion Bexhill.
We like to be as flexible as possible about checking in and out times, but if guests are checking out the same day you arrive then check in will be after 3pm. If guests are checking in the same day you are checking out then check out will be by 11am.
Please note that for most of the year the minimum stay is 2 nights. However, during the summer holidays the minimum stay is 1 week, though if at short notice the apartment is still available we will consider shorter bookings.
We do not have wifi ourselves, but if you have need our neighbours are happy to rent you theirs for a small charge (£10 for the weekend and £15 for 3 nights or more, £20 for a week or more). The charge is payable directly to them.
We live in London so will arrange keys to be left for you in the keysafe - this takes the pressure off arrivals as you do not have to get there at a specific time to meet someone. However, if you do prefer, we are blessed with lovely neighbours who will be happy to show you the ropes, just let me know and I'll arrange it. I am contactable throughout..

We had a perfect weekend in Julie's lovely flat in St. Leonards - it's warm, cosy and full of character! Loved all the vintage finds which add to the fantastic atmosphere. Julie was always quick to respond and nothing was too much to ask. It truly felt like home and we can't wait to return ! thanks so much Julie :)
We love St Leonards! We had a great stay and the flat was perfect: dropping in to someone else's child-friendly and interesting holiday home with a nice little courtyard garden (and child-friendly neighbouring cat). All very comfortable and well appointed, and great for walking to the wonderful beaches, St Leonards, right into Hastings for art, ice creams and trampolines. Highly recommended.
Julie's flat is lovely and the fires provide a cosy atmosphere. We were very comfortable amongst the eclectic things. The communication was excellent between us and our host, plus she was very flexible with dates to accommodate us. A very cool space. Thank you
Lovely place. Hope we'll be back sometime!
Well, everything was just perfect. Julie is a really charming host, really friendly and welcoming. The place is perfectly situated, close to the sea , about 10 minutes walking from the center, from the train station, close to good restaurants. The apartment are modest and cozy. And you really can feel yourself at home. I really enjoyed my stay there. Thanks again for your patience and understanding!!
We had such a lovely time in Julie's flat in St Leonards,it felt like a home from home,a very warm atmosphere and really cosy with the wood burners at this time of year.
Julie had prepared a lovely welcome when we arrived and we would certainly consider staying there again, the kids adored it and we had a really relaxed time.
Thanks again Julie.
Julie's apartment in Hastings has been such a wonderful home for us. Comfortable, warm, beautiful and situated in a very calm street.
We were able to rest and take our time in visiting the city and the natural parks in the surrounding area. We spent there days in harmony and peace, we also could cook in a very organized kitchen! A real treat. Julie has been really helpful in providing us a place to stay just within a few hours time. She answered quickly and has been really helpful during our conversations on the phone.
I could I not warmly recommend St. Leonard Julie's handsome flat?!
We really enjoyed our weekend in St Leonards. The flat was everything we needed, spacious and cozy with the woodburner blazing away (especially since it poured it down most of Saturday). The decor has a touch of sea side kitsch and victorian whimsy about it that we loved. Stylish new bathroom (website hidden) Clements restaurant was top quality, and the seafront walk into Hastings' Old Town was the unexpected highlight as was a pint of ale or two at First In Last Out after a day exploring all the antique shops.
Great flat - super-smart, new bathroom, v comfortable beds - very retro and stylish feel about the place.
We had a fantastic weekend -great to be so close to the beach and 5 mins drive to Hastings.
Definitely recommend - we will certainly go back again.
We had a nice stay at Julie's house. The neighbourhood is a little rough but you can find little gems if you wander around. We went to Bodiam castle and Birling Gap, these where highlights, also for the children.
If you like vintage and exploring the area this is a nice place to stay.
