About this listing
Studio apartment blocks from the beach, bay, and busy Garnett Ave. Clean and cozy, comfortable for two, it's an affordable place to stay while you enjoy everything San Diego has to offer.
Hi, I'm Chris. I travel frequently for work and list on Airbnb to defray some of my housing costs since I'm never home. My place is in the heart of Pacific Beach, the house is simple and older but kept nice and clean. It's all about the location, you can walk to everything in PB. 1 and 1/2 blocks to the beach, 2 blocks to the bay, 3 blocks to Garnett Ave where there is a large number of bars and restaurants. The house itself is a large studio with a queen sized bed, private bathroom and full kitchen. Can accommodate 1-2 people, more on request but you'll need to figure out sleeping arrangements. Free wifi, 46 inch flatscreen with Netflix, beach chairs and umbrellas. You have a private patio with a hammock and bbq, and a shared yard. If you're staying there that means I'm out of town but if you contact me in advance I'll be more than happy to leave you directions, recommendations, etc. I have friends with local tourism and adventure businesses so anything in the way of bike rental, surf lessons, jet ski rentals and so forth can be arranged. It's roughly 20 minutes to the airport or downtown by car (roughly $25 in cab) or you can take a Car2Go or the bus (public transportation in SD is NOT very convenient though). There is no designated parking space, street parking is free but can be difficult to find on peak summer days, no one's had to park more than 3 blocks away though and you can always pull up behind the house to drop off your luggage. Once you have a confirmed reservation please check the house manual section of my page for guests section that unlocks for details on key exchange, etc. The house just had the carpet, kitchen and bathroom redone, the more recent photos show the brown tile and no posters on the wall. Please keep in mind that the listed price doesn't include the cleaning fee or Airbnb's fees, so the total will be higher.
Whole house, access granted through keybox.
Interaction with Guests
Minimal, housekeeper is on call if you need anything.
You can walk everywhere, Uber and and Car2Go downtown are cheap if you want to get out of PB or go to and from the airport.
Check in at 6PM, check out by 11AM. If you overstay check out without emailing me I'll charge $50 against your security deposit, I didn't used to but some guests have ruined it for others, sorry. Other than that all you have to do is leave it in the same condition you found it in, clean. Please toss the dirty towels in the shower and take out your garbage. If you cooked please wash your dishes and wipe down the kitchen, If I come home to food splatters on the wall you will get a bad review.
The apartment was perfect, a short walk to the beach. We happened to meet Chris just as we were arriving; he was very nice and gave us suggestions for places to rent equipment and to eat dinner. The price was right, the place was just as described, and we'd stay there again!
We loved Chris' place! I am familiar with Pacific Beach area and we always stay near here. It was perfect! Woke up and walked to Woodys for coffee. On the boardwalk and a couple of blocks away. The residential area was quiet and nice and we found parking. Bike rental places were close by and you don't even need to drive anywhere. Best part was the hot shower and little patio area outside. Kitchen was clean and had all necessities too. I would highly recommend his place and would stay again. Only issue is that check in is 6pm. Which is a few hours later then normal. Book and you won't be disappointed. :)
We enjoyed our stay. Very close to beach, two blocks or so, you can see it. Nice area and lots of stores, pharmacy, grocery, gas, etc., and restaurants min walking distance. Size is adequate for two. Could have been cleaner and appliances were outdated but it was fine. Didn't like the 6pm check in but it is what it is. Parking on street was fine even during busy season, we parked on another street once. No ac and no fan was the biggest issue but we still (website hidden) was huge, great for night time watching Netflix after a long day. For the price and location, it's a good deal and would recommend especially to younger couples looking to have a good time on and near Pacific and Mission beach.
Great place, perfect spot, very near the beach & all the things you could possibly need. Chris, was very kind & went above & beyond to help when I needed it!
Good place for two people next to the beach and restaurants. Quit and clean. I recommend!
Chris was great. Very responsive to all my questions. The apartment was great. Just as advertised. Fantastic location, 2 blocks from the beach. 1 Block from PB Surf Shop where we rented bikes, skatemboards, surf boards, etc...
Will definitely stay here again on next trip to PB in San Diego. Thanks Chris!
- Right by the beach, literally 2 blocks away. You can walk to Grand, Garnet and anything down at the beach in only a few minutes.
- Depending on your standards you might find the place dirty. But this style of place and the upkeep standards are pretty typical for this area.
I used this as a crash pad but probably would have been disappointed if I was staying with my girlfriend or on vacation. The walls are now bare, the bed creaks with no mattress pad and the bathroom door doesn't close.
About the Host, Chris
I'm a surfer who travels frequently for work, so I put my place up on AirBnB when I'm out of town. Feel free to contact me in advance and I'll be happy to help you with local info, trip planning, and maybe even arrange to loan you some of my gear (surfboards, bicycles, camping gear, etc). I also have a lot of friends with local businesses so if you need to be set up with lessons, rentals, dinner reservations and so on let me know. Pretty laid back, I put clean sheets and towels out, make sure all the dishes are done and the house is vacuumed, I just ask that you keep it neat and do your dishes, I take care of the rest (cleaning fee covers laundry), have a beer or two out of the fridge, just put some new ones in there before you leave.
