At-home coffee

Start your morning right with the drip coffee maker and french press.
This full house rental on the Cape Cod Canal has a breathtaking uninterrupted 180-degree view of the water that begs to sit back on an Adirondack chair, enjoy the ocean breeze, see the boat traffic, watch people walk/bike the path and see the train go by from its panoramic backyard.

It's called Slack Tide after the short period at the turn of the tide when the water is completely unstressed, and there is no movement, which also happens to be the best time to fish.

The space
The home has been recently renovated while keeping some of the original Cape Cod cottage charm that makes it such a special and unique place. There are many Cape Cod specific maps, books and memorabilia throughout the house to help guests become familiarized with the unique location that is the Cape Cod Canal.

The most important room of the house is the 3-season porch that faces the canal. The wraparound large windows make this 180˚ view a destination in itself. A mid-century Modern dining set, sofa and pair of armchairs are ready to bask in the glow of the sunset which can be seen year-round from this room.

The living room is beautifully decorated with a Cape Cod-themed book library, lots of board games and puzzles, with a TV, high speed Internet and an air conditioning unit.

The kitchen has brand new appliances, butcher block countertops, open shelving and a french door refrigerator. The counter bar for four and window with a view are a joy to cook out of and hangout at.

The bedrooms have brand new queen-sized beds with memory gel mattress. Both have two closets and a full dresser for storage. Each room has new air conditioning units and one of the rooms has a washer & dryer in its closet.

There is ample room in the spacious backyard where a dining set looks onto the canal and has a grill right next to it. The outdoor shower shares this spectacular view and is very convenient when returning from the beach. A hammock rests between to clothes line polls making a highly functional spot to hang a beach towel at and/or relax. On the other side of the home is small deck perfect for two who want to enjoy a sunset or morning coffee.

Guest access
The entire home and its grounds are available to guests except for the garage and basement which are off-limits.

The hosts live across the street with their young family. Their neighbors and their families walk through the property year-round to cross onto the canal. It’s very important to the hosts to keep the spirit of friendly neighbor access to the path through this property, which otherwise the neighborhood lacks. Be prepared to have friendly folks walk through the yard and say hi. Feel free to say hi back.

Other things to note
There are retro cruiser bicycles available for guests available upon request. Let the hosts know if you’re interested in advance and they’ll be ready to enjoy the bike path that spans the width of the canal.

The reasons why the Cape Cod Canal is such a privileged location are endless. For starters, The 7-mile long path is family friendly and sought-after by avid cyclists. The striped bass fishing experience on the Canal makes it a world class fishing destination. And the boat watching on the canal is unparalleled. Giant freighters, cruise ships, tall ships and small boats all go through it daily making it a hot bed of activity.

Moms with little kids who are still napping or those looking for a quiet getaway might not love it when the train goes by, but older kids and those young at heart will love the thrill!

Slack Tide invites you to chill, sit back and slack a little.
