About this listing
Located in the heart of Portland's hopping Historic Mississippi District, this spacious 2nd story apartment built in 1892 (renovated in 2005) sits next to one of the city's favorite music venues-Mississippi Studios. Ideal for small groups of friends.
This spacious inner-North Portland apartment is located in the heart of one of Portland's most popular neighborhoods. Cafes, sleek bars, boutiques, trendy storefronts and food carts line the vibrant, leafy Historic Mississippi District ad are literally right out the front door. The location couldn't be more prime for food lovers, site seers and people looking to experience the real Portland!
The apartment sits aside / atop one of Portland's favorite music venues: Mississippi Studios and Bar Bar (attached bar and restaurant). Off-street parking is easily found nearby. We are located right on the TriMet #4 bus line and the MAX Light Rail Yellow Line (1/2 mile walk to either Albina Station or Overlook Station) - just minutes from downtown Portland.
We have 5 beds between 2 bedrooms- three twin beds and a full bed in one room and another full bed in its own private room. In addition, the couch in the living room pulls out to a queen bed.
**PLEASE NOTE: the apartment sits above a busy bar (BAR BAR) - on a street with several other bars and is located next door to Mississippi Studios (a music venue). If you or anyone in your party are light sleepers, you should consider another place. Most guests don't have an issue with the noise but everyone has different tolerances to it so please check in with your party before booking.**
While in town, if you'd like to see a show , please check out Mississippi Studios on the web and let me know.
There is a one time cleaning fee of 60.00
Guests will have access to the entire apartment and private back balcony. We have a full kitchen with gas range, microwave, and dishwasher. The bathroom has a tub, and is stocked with towels (but not toiletries). We also have a washer/dryer with detergent that guests are welcome to use.
We also have free wi-fi and extensive cable.
Interaction with Guests
Lots of interaction or none at all, I'm readily available and enjoy interacting with guests via text if need be. I enjoy answering questions about Portland-ish "things to do" in the area. I'm on-site almost everyday at our venue below and available to answer questions or concerns.
Please visit Historic Mississippi Avenue on the web.
Small conv. store located three doors down (NuRite Market). New Seasons grocery store is a 10 minute walk. The neighborhood has over 60+ shops and restaurants.
Very easy, Visit TriMet on the web for more information on Portland's public transit system and light rail.
The MAX Light Rail Yellow Line is near-by, running Interstate Avenue. The Yellow Line stops at both the Albina-Mississippi Station or Overlook Station - both stations are about a 1/2 mile walk. The TriMet #4 bus runs up and down Mississippi Ave. with 10 minute, frequent service to downtown and central SE Portland (Division Street).
Other Things to Note
Please see note about the apartment sitting atop the bar next to Mississippi Studios (concert venue). If anyone in your group is a light sleeper, the apartment probably isn't a good fit. Although there is no central AC, we do have AC window units and fans which keep he apartment really cool, even on the rare weeks of +90 degree weather in July / August.
ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING, NO CANDLES. No pets. No parties - ask host for details on this policy as we have occupancy limits and liquor control rules which apply to the apartment.
The bar below will not allow any drinks from the apartment taken on the patio or bar below, this is a state liquor license law.
And although we LOVE kids, and don't have a policy against kids, given the apartment sits above a bar / concert venue, its not really a good fit for families traveling with younger children.
We loved our stay at Erin's place! It was so comfy and had enough space for all of us. We were so happy about the location with bars and restaurants only a few steps away. Erin was very nice & accommodating and was able to let us drop off our bags so my group and I had time to explore. Will definitely stay here on my next trip back to Portland!
I absolutely loved my stay at Erin's place! The apartment was gorgeous and the area was so awesome. We had so much fun and felt like we were at a home away from home. Erin was awesome and was very helpful in helping us get settled in and comfortable. The place was very clean when we checked in and no issues during our stay. When I make it back to Portland, I will definitely stay here again.
If you haven't tried Airbnb, this place would be a great way to experience your first time! :) When we first walked upstairs and into the apartment, there was a packet printed out on the table next to our two sets of keys. The packet consisted of some FYIs about the apartment, a list of places to check out nearby and checkout instructions.
The location was absolutely perfect. We lost count of how many times we walked to Blue Star donuts and Little Big Burger. There's also a really good Mac & cheese spot across the street (Mac & cheese is my weakness! I've never seen so many different types!) We also visited BarBar (the bar downstairs) a few times. It has the cutest outdoor seating. We got to hear music from our balcony all night long!
The apartment sleeps 7 people comfortably.. meaning everyone is on a bed. Sharing one bathroom with everyone wasn't as bad as we thought it would be. The bathtub is HUGE! We also made use of the kitchen & cooked up a few things that we bought from the market down the street. The laundry room was useful as well! They provided us with lots of extra towels too.
I never hesitated to shoot a text to Erin if I ever had any questions about the place during our stay. She was very quick to respond. On the last day, our checkout was originally at 11am, but my friends and I really wanted to go river rafting & the last reservation was 9am. Erin was accommodating enough to let us check out at 4pm instead. Words can't even come close to how grateful we were to have those extra hours & to be able to end our Portland trip with river rafting! 5 days spent at the apartment was just the right amount of time. Thank you, Erin for making our first Airbnb experience an unforgettable one! :)
The place was nice, clean, and spacious. We enjoyed the very lively and unique neighborhood very much: it has lots of shops, food carts, and breweries close by. Erin was responsive and helpful. We can't wait to visit Portland again!
My friends and I had an overall great experience. The house was perfect for us and location was excellent. Erin was a great host giving advice on where to go what to do and just overall very helping. I would deffinetly stay here again and recommend this house to others.
