Lots of restaurants, cafes and grocery stores near us in case you want to start your day with a more substantial meal. (Just 7-8 minute beautiful walk to downtown Oak Park where all the action is).
FACTS ABOUT TRANSPORTATION:
If you choose to take a bus to the train station instead of walking through our famous Frank Lloyd Wright streets, here are your options:
1. Our home is 3 minutes (3 blocks) from the bus station to the Green Line.
2. The buses are very frequent; I rarely wait for it more than 5 minutes. Most of the time, you won't even wait at all.
3. Its $2.25 for the bus and $2.25 for the train. Or you can buy a daily pass that will cover all buses and trains around Chicago.
Many ask about the price and extra fees and how to pay. When you put in the dates and number of people you will get our total cost. There are no taxes or cleaning fees on top of this, but AirBnB adds their fee. It varies between 6-12% on top of our price.
*When your group rents more than one room, I can send you a special offer that reflects the number of rooms and guests.
All the payments are safely made with credit card to Airbnb when booking. They hold the money until the day you check in and will then transfer it to us.
Bookings with us are done with the "strict" cancellation policy and all cancellations should be done through AirBnB. This being said, if we manage to re-rent the place the nights you have canceled we can give a bigger refund to you than what the strict cancellation policy dictates. The earlier you cancel the bigger the chance that we will find other guests.
DEPOSIT is for keys and will be refunded by AirBnb once keys are returned.
*To confirm that you have read the entire description, please include the secret word "Millennium Park" in your inquiry to me.
Please note that 11am check out is strictly enforced - we must be here to collect your keys to ensure prompt return of your deposit money.
*Sometime I do have the possibility to let you check out later. Please ask me if it is possible closer to your departure time .

Really fantastic! You will not be disappointed. Everything is so immaculate and she's a fantastic host. It is so much better than any hotel. A++++++!!
Wonderful stay!! Spent a week here and just want to say that Vered is a fantastic host. Everything was immaculate 100% of the time. I do not know *how* she does that but it's pretty amazing. Better than any hotel, for sure. You will love it.
Slept in a REAL bed which was extremely comfortable (and I'm verrrry picky about beds). She has free parking. Also free wifi. And she had the room ready with a terrific portable heater next to the bed that keeps the temp at whatever you set it for -- so that everything was always "cozy warm" in there, which was much appreciated too =)
Everyone was very quiet and respected each other space and serenity. You would NEVER guess there was more than 1 or 2 people in the house even nights/weekends. Her 2 kids are sweethearts. Also, I had upstairs 'shared bathroom' but there was pretty much nobody ever in it - so it was like having a 'private bath' which at this price was a great value. Neighborhood is nice and safe too.
Book with Vered and you will not be disappointed!! Thanks again Vered! =)
Very nice hostess, with a nice house in convenient location.
I enjoyed my stay at Vered's. It was interesting to meet the guests from other countries. My room was clean and private. The neighborhood is a beautiful residential area, with easy access to public transportation, surrounding commercial areas and public spaces. Oak Park is a wonderful place to visit, though I am biased because of having grown up there. I am grateful to Vered for making my stay a pleasant and comfortable one. Thank you!
I enjoyed my stay with Vered and her family. Everyone was very welcoming and helpful. Vered's home is in a very interesting part of greater Chicago. Frank Lloyd Wright's home and studio are just a city block away. Several examples of his work are in the neighborhood. The train into Chicago is about a 15 minute walk and takes about 25 minutes to get into downtown. I left my car at Vered's house while I went into the city for the morning.
Accommodating host. Safe and comfortable neighborhood. Will definitely stay here when returning to Chicago.
I woułd give Vered 10 stars if it was possible. The house is on a beautiful tree lined street, the room was very clean, the shower hot and hostess incredibly charming, welcoming, kind and sweet. When I return to Chicago I will definitely stay at Vered's again!
Vered was a wonderfully kind host. Her house is extremely clean and well built. We had a nice stay in a great, safe location. Thanks Vered!
This was a lovely place to stay - Vered was just lovely, very welcoming and accommodating. Thanks for the good advice on how to spend my short time in Chicago. The district is beautiful - there are some great houses in the neighbourhood as well as some Frank Lloyd Wright houses to catch your eye. The L-train is nearby - probably around a 10-15 minute walk, and there are some nice amenities in Oak Park - shops, restaurants, cinema. My room was nice, it had two windows which made it seem nice and airy, and the whole house was very clean and quiet. Thanks!
My 3 grown up sons and I stayed with Vered at the very start of a 3 week, 6000 mile journey down Route 66. I have deliberately held off completing this review until the end of the journey so as to be able to compare our stay with Vered’s against other establishments on the trip. I am pleased to report that Vered's place was the very best!
I think 3 elements combine to make a place truly great. Those aspects are the physical characteristics of the accommodation premises; the people and the locality.
Vered's home was beautifully presented. It was very clean. The beds were perfect after a long 18+ hour journey from Australia. Her home is the picture postcard place, right down to the porch out the front and the American flag blowing in the breeze. We we were in 2 x 2 bed rooms, both with a view to the street. It was really beneficial to wearily travelers like us to have the benefit of good hot showers and such fantastically clean bathroom amenities.
Vered and her family are warm, open and very affable. Vered was particularly helpful with respect to assisting us with the quirks of the neighborhood and information about Chicago generally, even going above and beyond and accompanying us to a local courthouse to have a parking ticked revoked! Further, the other people staying with Vered were all very friendly. Clearly Vered's charm rubs off on people quickly.
Oak Park is the setting for Vered's home. It is a quiet, well maintained, safe and leafy neighborhood. It has a good range of shops, great places for the classic American breakfast and well run Bars and restaurants. (It was NBA Finals when we were in town so we really tested out the local Bar on a few nights). As well, the locality has some fantastic examples of the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright. We found it particularly beneficial that Oak Park is so close to downtown Chicago whether you drive or take the metro.
We rate Vered's place the very best home stay of our 3 weeks in the USA!
This is the final rate, including any fees from the host and Airbnb.
