This a huge light filled, immaculately clean, fresh, pet free, and newly renovated historic home.
We are only 8 blocks away from downtown Oak Park and the Green Line train to downtown.
The green line will put you in the “Loop”- The heart of downtown Chicago in 25 minutes.

*** Yes, It’s true! It is much closer to downtown Chicago then many other locations within the city itself.
(Read further down for more details about transportation).

We will provide you with detailed info/options on how to reach us from the various airports; info will include the option of our PRIVATE SHUTTLE (less expensive and more interesting than a taxi).I’ll be happy to pick you Up :)

*Rooms available and amenities:
We have 7 rooms for guests. I can arrange them anyway you need it to be.
There are rooms for Couples (queen size bed), single rooms, double rooms. The Rooms can be arranged to fit 3 or 4 guests if needed and if you don’t mind being a little tight. They are all real mattresses.
All the rooms have a closet with hangers and night tables. We provide bed linens and towels, but not maid service. If you want to squeeze a third person into the room, that is totally up to you - it may be a bit crowded, and the third person will get an air mattress or a foam mattress, but it can be done if you don't mind being a little tight.

You'll share two beautiful full bathrooms that are kept immaculately clean at all times. (See in pictures and read in over 106 reviews).

Here are some facts about transportation:
If you choose to take a bus to the train station instead of walking through our famous Frank Lloyd Wright streets, here are your options:
1. Our home is 3 minutes walk to the bus station that takes you to the Green Line.
2. The buses are very frequent; I rarely wait for it more than 5 minutes. Most of the time, you won't even wait at all.
3. Its $2.25 for the bus and $2.25 for the train. Or you can buy a daily pass that will cover all buses and trains around Chicago.

ABOUT PAYMENT:
Many ask about the price and extra fees and how to pay. When you put in the dates and number of people you will get our total cost. There are no taxes or cleaning fees on top of this, but AirBnB adds their fee. It varies between 6-12% on top of our price.
When your group rents more than one room, I can send you a special offer that reflects the number of rooms and guests.
All the payments are safely made with credit card to Airbnb when booking. They hold the money until the day you check in and will then transfer it to us.
Bookings with us are done with the "strict" cancellation policy and all cancellations should be done through AirBnB. This being said, if we manage to re-rent the place the nights you have canceled we can give a bigger refund to you than what the strict cancellation policy dictates. The earlier you cancel the bigger the chance that we will find other guests.
DEPOSIT is for keys and will be refunded by AirBnb once keys are returned.
*To confirm that you have read the entire description, please include the secret word "Millennium Park" in your inquiry to me.
Please note that 10;30 am check out is strictly enforced - we must be here to collect your keys to ensure prompt return of your deposit money.
Sometime I do have the possibility to let you check out later. Please ask me if it is possible closer to your departure time :)

  • Vered was very nice and responsive, and the process of staying here was very easy! I didn't intersect with Vered during my stay, but it was easy to coordinate getting in and out - we even had name tags on our doors! Vered provided everything we could need - towels, toiletries, and a bottle of water by the bed.

The house is nice and looks just like the photos, and the neighborhood is absolutely lovely. It's a perfect location for walking around Oak Park and seeing the Frank Lloyd Wright homes.

  • Vered's house is located in the beautiful and peaceful area of Oak Park. The house is very clean and comfortable. She allow us to use her pantry for an easy cooking, all of this made us feel like staying at home.

To get to town is easy, public transport is not far, It take about 10 minutes walk to CTA station where restaurants, shops and groceries are around. I love walking through this area which full of old beautiful house and lovely garden. Vered's house is also over 100 years old but she renovated it to be modern inside for a comfort stay. I love staying at her house and would love to comeback here again :))

  • Vered is a pleasure to stay with and she is such a warm and welcoming host. She is so easy to chat with. We were free to help ourselves with coffee and iced water and bagels and toast in the mornings. The Oak Park area is a beautiful area to walk around and the local train takes about 25mins to the downtown area.

  • Staying at Vered's house is pleasant and relaxing, provided you follow Vered's rules.

Vered struck me as a very mother-like person with quite strict rules. Some of which aren't mentioned on the room description at the time of writing this review: no pork in the house; AirBnB guests are only allowed to use the small refrigerator next to the dining table, the large/main refrigerator is for Vered's family and international students. Otherwise, Vered was very helpful and hospitable. Nights were always quiet thanks to Vered's vigilance. Vered's son was also very welcoming and I enjoyed speaking with him.

The international students I met at the time of my stay were friendly and mostly kept to themselves, I had no problems with noise, cleanliness or space.

The house itself is lovely, spacious and clean. Located 10 minutes away from the Harlem station by walk, it takes 45 minutes to an hour to get to downtown Chicago. The Oak Park neighbourhood near the station has the supermarkets and restaurants you need, plus a very affordable movie theatre.

Vered's place is a good choice for those who don't mind the rules and the travel time to downtown.

    Response from Vered:

Xiao was nice but a very different kind of guest from what had before. I kindly and cautiously accepted his reservation after his host asked him to leave her home in the middle of his stay because he never left her home and was always around. I guess he made her feel uncomfortable for some reason.
In my common sense posted home rules it says: "Please ask permission for everything". at one point, he felt too comfortable to open my private family refrigerator without asking first and take ketchup and then walk to me while I was on the phone and ask if he can use it. He should have asked first! I would have never done this in someone else home, period!
He got caught in heavy rain on the way home one day and came home soaked to his bones. We were all in the 1st floor by the front door and he just proceeded through the living room into the dinning room to his carpeted room while leaving a Huge trail of water behind him. He could have asked for a towel before entering and I would have been more then happy to help instead of just trailing with water all over the 1st floor. I pointed it out to him and he unkindly answered me by snapping at me.
This is common sense not to do that and ask for help. THIS IS NOT A HOTEL, THIS IS A HOME !
I have 82 perfect reviews from awesome common sense people who are extremely grateful to be able to be in such a beautiful home with a great host for a fraction of the price.
He was welcomed use my kitchen at normal hours and he did so BUT he did not ask which pots he can use to cook his meat and food. He just assumed that he can use whatever. I kindly asked him kindly to please not bring in pork and he said ok.
Even if the the pork issue was not mentioned on my home rule, it should have not bothered him. After all, I took him in and treated him very nicely despite the fact the another host cut his stay short.
Xiao IS EXTREMELY SLOW AND LAID BACK PERSON.
I UNDERSTAND WHY IT TOOK HIM 45 MIN TO AN HOUR TO GET TO DOWNTOWN, EVERY OTHER GUEST IN MY HOME TESTIFIED IN THEIR REVIEWS THAT IT TAKES BETWEEN 25-35 MINUTES TO DOWNTOWN. :)
BECAUSE THIS IS A HOME AND WE HAVE COMMON SENSE RULES THAT ENABLE EVERYONE TO BE RESTED, RELAXED AND HAPPY, THAT IS WHY HE HAD SUCH A GOOD STAY REGARDLESS OF THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE IN THE HOME.
My son really liked Xiao and overall I can say that he is a nice guy with an odd behavior.
If you like a guest that does not leave your home most of the time and a bit ungrateful, then he can be a good fit to you as a guest.
