The flat is situated only 300ft from the beach and not even 5 minutes walking from the Monterosso train station.
It's organized with:
1 king size bedroom
1 double bedroom
Also the living room has a pull out couch if needed. (only upon request)
The location is really good, there are plenty of restaurants (Miky's one of the best in Monterosso), bar or pizza places.
Anyway if you're not planning to eat out the only supermaket in this part of Monterosso is right out the building entrance , which makes it really easy.
The apartment is unique as we're in the 5 terre, Monterosso to me is the best out of the five, not too small and really neat with a great view.
We loved our time at Leopoldo's place in Monterosso. After a very long day of traveling we were thrilled to only have to walk a couple of minutes and found the apartment very easily with Leopoldo's mom waiting for us. She was very helpful and friendly, gave us good advice about local places to eat, helped us feel at home. The apartment was clean and cozy, the location can't be beat. It was a great home base to explore Cinque Terre and we would recommend it to anyone looking to visit the area. We had a great time!!
Leopoldo's father, Paolo, was there to greet us right on time after our train arrived in Monterosso. He was very nice, and explained to us all about the appartment, the supermarket (which is next to the flat, very convenient), the train schedule between the villages, and everything else we needed to know , including reservations for a restaurant we wanted to try out.
If you do not want to deal with 100's of stairs, and a 3 minute walk to and from the train station, then this is the place to be.
This apartment in Monterosso is well is light and quite spacious. Barbara welcomed us with a smile and was very friendly. There is a second room and if you travel with a child, he/she will have his/her own space. There is however very little space to store your clothing if you plan to stay for several days because some of the storage that could be used is locked by the owner.
However, the price asked to rent this apartment is definitely too high in our opinion. Had we known how noisy it was, we would not have rented it.
The problem is that railway tracks are approximately 150 feet (50 m) from the apartment’s windows. In the evening, you have regional and high speed trains going by the apartment building on average every 5 to 7 minutes. Also, the apartment is so close to the train station that, when windows are opened, you hear the messages given to passengers at the train station. Trains which stop at the Montorosso station make even more noise when they put on the brakes.
Great apartment in a great location. Fantastic as a base to explore the cinque Terre.
Great apartment, close the train station and the beach! Location was great for getting around. The apartment had everything we needed, lost of space, and a really good shower. It was always easy to get ahold of Leopoldo, great host!
Host was not particularly communicative prior to our visit - did what was required only. Never met him. Met his mother.
Place was more run down than appeared on the listing - for example, there was a sheet covering a worn sofa. Also, we did not realize that people were actually living there and had locked closets and storage areas upon vacating for our stay. There was minimal storage space for our clothing. The bathroom ceiling had a leak. Leopoldo responded to our notifying him about this but could not fix it until we were gone. I thought he knew about this before we arrived and should have had it fixed.
Neighborhood convenient as described but noisy due to trains running all night. We did not realize that.
Toiletries and breakfast offerings were very limited. This was a surprise and not very welcoming.
We did not find any literature about the town and area.
It was expensive and even though the town is an expensive tourist area, I do not think it was a good value.
first of all I would like to remind you this is not an hotel or anything close so the breakfast is not something I have to offer but a plus, same with the welcoming part which could have definitely been more exhaustive but could have also been less than this one. My mom waited in the place for a while and we never let guest waiting outside.
I did respond to all the mail and it's not written anywhere that I'm the one who has to welcome my guest, especially when is the real owner of the place that welcomes you despite speaking no english.
Of course we live at the place during summer and since it's our vacation house we have a locked closet.
The leak has been repaired 2 days after you've left and no, we didn't know about it until my mom came to clean the house up the same morning you came to check in.
Finally about the price, an average 3 star hotel with a double bed and bathroom cost about 50% more than my apartment, which is one of the cheapest on airbnb in the 5 terre, so I don't think there's anything wrong about the pricing.
I'm definitely going to put down some more information and get a better sofa's cover,
thanks for staying
This is a lovely apartment, in a great location, perfect as a base for touring the area. While we didn't meet Leopoldo, we did meet his mother who showed us where to find everything and how things worked. The apartment is 2 mins walk from the beach, and the train station with a small grocery shop on the ground floor which stocked all the basics. It was ideal for our stay.

Hi, I'm an italian guy who love to see new places and discover the world.
I've been in lots of places for my young age but I still haven't seen the far east and the Oceania continent, which is where I'll head soon.
I enjoy traveling mostly during summer so I don't have to bring lots of stuff and I don't have to worry about the weather.
Everytime I speak to somebody on my trips I try to speak the local language and I'm always keen to understand something new, a language too.
