About this listing

The space

A private home lodging located in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica with a spectacular post card ocean/ jungle view.
We have 2 rooms with shared baths and 6 rooms with private baths. . A short walk to the beach and the National Park. We are not a hotel so if you enjoy staying in a home this is the right place.

A full kitchen is available for your use but breakfast is service in the main house. A large deck overlooking the ocean and tropical rainforest is a wonderful way to see wildlife or just relax with a cold drink and good book.

We also now have three new rooms with private baths and A/C. Each has a double bed and a single bed, sitting area and of course a shower with hot water and some of the best views in Manuel Antonio.

Manuel Antonio and the National Park is internationally known for its breathtaking beauty and abundance of wildlife. Without even moving from our deck you can see monkeys (3 kinds), sloths, coatis, tucans and lots more in their natural environment. Our garden has many species of tropcial plants including heliconias, cinnamon, allspice, papaya, bananas, pineapples and orchids. We are a 10 min walk to the beach. Everything you need can be found within walking distance. A small supermarket, banks, gift shops and some of the best restaurants in the area are a short distance away. Looking directly at the National Park we have one of the best views in Manuel Antonio. Our very small friendly bi-lingual staff with many years of living in Costa Rica, can make any tour reservations for you. If you would like to go sailing, river rafting, parasailing, horseback riding, kayak through the mangrove, or swing through the canopy we can arrange it for you.
All our guests may use the deck and livingroom/kitchen area of the teak house. The view is spectacular and there is a hammock and lots of deck chairs to sit and watch the monkeys passing though the trees.
I would not recommend it for anyone that is not physically active. There are a number of stairs.

I will only receive guests after 6 pm by direct request, so ask first if you plan on arriving at night.

Very personal attention from host, FABulous view from dining room, nice big deck for chilling out in a hammock, journaling, or doing yoga. Well maintained.

Anita, was a wonderful host, we had howler monkeys visiting frequently and waking us up in the more. Great location.

Great welcome from Anita during the check in, the place is very well located and the view is astonishing! If you aren't sensitive with cleanliness this place is perfect for you! Indeed, the room we stayed in was dirty with spider webs, insect droppings, dead cockroaches, centipedes, and last but not least a scorpion showing up in the evening. After informing Anita of our discontent about the cleanliness and presence of unwelcome insects, another room was offered to us. It was not much better and as dirty as the other one, with red ants on top. The bedding in the two bedrooms was old and uncomfortable. Moreover, the presence of bats in the common area (stairs) did not bother us but their droppings on the floor could be cleaned off. Being totally aware that this place is located in the forest full of insects and animals, this does not mean that it should be dirty and that there should be insects and spider webs inside the property. Finally, the given breakfast was correct but the table was full of cat hair. We could smell their litter inside the room.

My sister and I decided to take a brief two night trip to Manuel Antonio and Anita's was the perfect place for us. It was tranquil and scenic and a nice walk to two different beaches. We really enjoyed the breakfast she provides and the company she gave! We recommend to all!

Basic amenities with a gorgeous setting and view. I recommend a room with a fan versus the AC unit option. Monkeys and birds galore and a single community hammock on a very cool porch. If repeating this trip, I would've made my own breakfast and gone to the community area for coffee and the view. It's nice to have breakfast included but the resident cats are easy to detect without seeing them around (cat hair on food and ammonia in the air). Amazing semi-private beach and surrounding foliage. Highly recommend the pizza and falafel joints up the hill...

Anita's place was great! Within walking distance of many restaurants and attractions, but still private and quiet. Also, fresh fruit and coffee every morning, accompanied by a stunning view. Highly recommended!

I discover Manuel Antonio 41 years ago after graduating the University of California in Berkeley. Don Melton and myself first did a research project in the National Park and adjoining beaches and decided to make Punta Quepos our home. Don was the local historian and gave educational talks for many groups including National Geografic. We were among the founders of the first Chamber of Tourism in Manue Antonio, founders of ASCONA (Quepos first conservation organization), and have continued to be active in civic and conservations groups to date. I am currently working with a group to establish an animal shelter here in our area. (URL HIDDEN) We worked for many years on the problem of drownings (see page 7). I ran my gift shop LA BUENA NOTA for many years and because of my extensive knowledge of Costa Rica, I can answer most questions about our area and some advice about other tourist destinations in Costa Rica.
