Interaction with Guests
I like to be as social as my guests wish. I respect their privacy, as I expect they do mine. There have been many occasions when my guests and I have enjoyed sitting down to dinner together or just sat out on the deck enjoying morning coffee.
We are within a 4 block walk to Piedmont Avenue, which is a wonderful area with a variety of restaurants, a movie theatre, a great grocery market and produce shops, as well as bookstores and gift shops. Parking is plentiful and free around the house. Walk through the Rose Garden right down the street from my home.

I have just returned from Linda's Olive Ave. room and I will start by saying that I loved the location and can't wait to go back to Piedmont. It felt amazing; with a nice mix of shopping, restaurants and beautiful places to see (like a lake and a garden) all within walking distance. Other than a desireable location, Airbnb relies on trust or the honesty/accuracy of the listings. Don't worry for a second if you choose this property. I was there for a quick weekend visit with my daughter, so I particularly appreciated some time to relax and catch up on my sleep in the most comfy bed. Everything in the house looks just like the photos. The rental is perfectly suited to provide enough space and privacy and amenities for one or two persons. The closet and bathroom as well as the small desk and dresser drawers just made me feel so "at home" - which is absolutely wonderful while traveling alone.
The host and hostess were well prepared, generous and pleasant and I would have enjoyed hanging out with them more, had time permitted. In fact, I sincerely hope they take me up on my invitation to visit SoCal and stay as guests in my home.
All of the other reviews were spot on regarding what was included with the rental, cleanliness, etc. I highly recommend this property and know you will enjoy spending time at Linda's as much as I did.
Linda was a wonderful host. She and Christian were friendly, helpful and welcoming. I was in Oakland to help a friend thru the Hospice process and her lovely home and gracious manner were a welcome respite after some long days/nights. Communication was fast, easy and honest. She was having some tile work done down stairs and informed me ahead of time of the work schedule to ensure it would not impact my stay (it did not impact my stay and the finished product looks quite nice, adding to the beauty of the home). The location is very good for visiting the East Bay and there is ample free street parking if you have a car. The bus and BART to San Francisco are a short walk and made for a convenient one day excursion. Christian even dropped me off at a friend's home in the Oakland hills after I'd turned in my rental car. Piedmont is just over the hill with some nice restaurants and shops while Lake Merrit was a 5 minute bus ride away. Daily breakfast was basic but plentiful, particularly the fresh fruits and I had full use of the kitchen. The room was bright, airy and had a very comfortable bed, cable TV and fast internet access. Laundry was a welcome amenity and very convenient. Overall I would say this was a great room with wonderful hosts who truly made a difficult situation better with warm, friendly hospitality. I would definitely stay here again if my travels bring me back thru Oakland.
We had a great stay at Linda's. The room and bathroom were perfect and the bed was really comfy. Linda was very generous with the use of her kitchen and food and we really felt at home. I would stay again without hesitation.
Although I've traveled with Airbnb before, this was my first experience staying in a room in a private home. It was terrific! Linda is a warm and welcoming host, and we felt comfortable and immediately at home. She offered full use of her kitchen, and had a terrific collection of maps and books on the area.
We enjoyed having the sense of a well-loved family home, full of interesting artwork and pictures! It was also nice to have some snuggle time her kitties, Oliver and Huddie, after a week and a half away from my own kitties. They were happy to accept attention, but didn't initiate contact, so if you're not a cat person they won't swarm you. The house is in a safe, quiet neighborhood, but close to freeways and transit options.
The room itself is light and very spacious--I was traveling with a friend, and we both had plenty of room to spread out. The bed was comfy, and the bathroom location, set back around a corner from the main room, made it easy for a night owl or early bird to get going without disturbing anyone's sleep. I should also note that the cats are kept out of the guest's room, so no worries about fur or litter crumbs on your clothes.
All in all this was a great experience!
Christian and Linda made my stay in their home very memorable! Linda was so accommodating to my arrival time being delayed due to a last minute flight change. Both Linda and Christian helped me with directions, suggested restaurants, and provided breakfast/coffee each morning. I will definitely stay at their residence the next time I'm in the Bay Area! I couldn't have asked for nicer hosts!
This was my second stay of four nights and I felt like I was returning to a home away from home. Linda greeted me warmly when I arrived late in the evening. The spacious, pretty bedroom suite was spic and span and welcoming. The large kitchen was stocked with a selection of fresh fruit, breads and pastries, eggs, cheeses, cereals, tea, coffee, and more. The quiet residential neighborhood is charming, walking distance to Piedmont Avenues's restaurants, boutiques and small grocery stores. I highly recommend this lovely airbnb. It will be my first choice every time I return to Oakland.
Absolutely wonderful! Linda was a very welcoming hostess, the room was private, good-sized, bright, and had everything we needed. Location is perfect for getting to know the area, literally a 10-minute walk to Piedmont Ave.
