About This Listing
Located in the historic district of Eastham, our lovely B&B has the flexibility to offer something for everyone. This spacious B&B is full of light and has the seaside flavor of Cape Cod. We are just steps from the Cape Cod Rail Bike Trail that carries you to either the spectacular beaches of the Cape Cod National Seashore or the tranquil beaches of Cape Cod Bay. Soothe yourself in our outside shower to feel refreshed after a hard day at the beach. Lush gardens and a horse and paddock adds to the large and lovely landscaped yard. Enjoy our gas fireplace in our luxurious living room on chilly nights. There are two bedrooms, one has a queen size bed and the other room has 2 twin beds. One room can be rented at a discounted price. See our other listing for pricing. For those traveling as either family or friends, the two rooms can be rented as a two room suite with one bathroom. We have a comfortable living room with a gas fireplace, TV, and a high speed wireless Internet service. We also have a very lovable golden retriever named Chesney. He is not allowed in guest rooms but if you leave your door open he may come in for a quick visit and steal your socks:) Summer activities are endless. Whale Watch (April-Oct) or shore whale watch year round. Seals rest on our beaches and frolic in our waters year round. Spring and fall are the best time for birding since the cape is a major fly over for migrating birds. A winter beach walk is amazing especially after a recent snowfall. September is our favorite month to enjoy the cape at its finest. We still have the summer beach weather but the crowds have gone. The air is more crisp and the tranquility after the summer rush is soothing.
We only ask that you relax and enjoy yourself. Cape Cod is a special place during any season. A place we love to share with our guests. We take pride in maintaining our home for our guest to enjoy and relax in. Please be comfortable and just keep it as you find it. The kitchen and living area are common rooms that you will share with us ocassionally, but we have our own private suite. We are onsite to provide you with a continental breakfast, answer your questions and share some local tips.
We had a great time while staying at Nancy and Bob's place in Eastham. Their two rooms were perfect for my wife and I and our two teenage sons. They're very welcoming and friendly and Nancy provided a light breakfast each day. They also provided some valuable tips about beaches and other activities. Nancy even called me soon after we left to let me know that we were driving into a severe storm and she offered to let us come back to ride it out!
We enjoyed getting to know a little about them and they were always available as needed but at the same time we really felt like we had the place to ourselves. Their big dog is very lovable and entertaining but not at all in the way.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and would recommend to a friend.
This was such an amazing experience. We came here with another couple to attend a wedding. We arrived to this beautifully landscaped estate and upon arriving was greeted by Bob and their adorable golden retriever (Chesney). Bob invited us to see him play guitar at a local popular pub and he also told us all the cool places to visit. We later met Nancy who actually is involved in the Whale Watching tours along with her parents. They all were very warm and hospitable while still giving us our privacy. We will all be back again to checkout one of Nancy's boat tours and Bob's musical gigs; as the wedding took up most of our time. I highly recommend this place and host if you want to really enjoy a fun weekend in Cape Cod.
The experience was bitter and not entirely good. Details below:
1. I had not communicated accurately. I should have mentioned that we were 5 and I had accidentally mentioned 4. But, I was willing to pay for the extra person on a pro-rated basis. That negotiation made the host a bit uncomfortable. I understand its a personal preference and respected it when we were asked to vacate the house within 20 odd mins of arriving.
2. The host had mentioned that there is a dog in the house which was good and adorable. But, soon we saw it dipping its mouth in the commode in the washroom and drooling all over the house. It snatched away my mom's cap and gloves and started nibbling on it. I do like pets and I understand that this is part and parcel of it. But, probably we weren't prepared to have it hang around all day around us. The expectation was that it would be around the property and not really with us at all time.
3. I do recommend the place but would request the host to set the expectations up front on what she needs.
I had to book a new accommodation and move out immediately with my family, who had flown in from over seas just for my graduation at MIT the day before.
Honestly the neglect to mention an additional person did not feel accidental since the website clearly states 4 individuals and this guest's email stated 4 people as well. It was clear this guest was looking for a deal and thought it would be easy to negotiate upon arrival. This was very uncomfortable. As far as the dog goes, when I walked into the living room one in the party was shaking a glove over the dogs head in an attempt to encourage it to play. Of course he would think the glove was fair game. If you play with a joyful dog he will play. The father was uncomfortable with the dog. Upon arrival he was afraid to enter the house. Why would you reserve a place that has a dog, if someone in your party is afraid of them? The others in the family were aware of the Dad's discomfort yet they continued to play with the dog. When I saw this was a problem and I took the dog away. When I asked him to leave, I told him he would have no problem finding a place to stay since it was still a slow time for us here on Cape Cod. I never stated a time limit and quite honestly expected they would leave immediately. HE requested to stay another 20 minutes. I said yes. To address the statement about my setting "the expectations up front on what she needs," well they ARE clearly stated on airbnb but I will state them again. My expectations are that guests do not arrive with more people than the reservation was made for and emails state and do not reserve to stay with us if you or someone in your party is afraid of dogs. Please take the time to read my other reviews since they are quite good and you will see people love the dog.
We had a wonderful weekend with Nancy and Bob. They were gracious hosts! The house is beautiful and immaculate. Large backyard with wonderful deck. Very relaxing! We started each day with a continental breakfast. We chose this location because we wanted to do some biking - the biking trail is just up the road from the house, as is First Encounter Beach and Coast Guard Beach. Easy drive to Provincetown.
This was a fantastic experience! Nancy and her husband made us feel welcomed and provided lots of useful information and tips.
Their house is perfectly located to explore the inner and outer Cape.
Would definitely stay there again!

About the Host, Nancy
Bob and I are high school teachers but have many other interests. Bob is a scuba diving instructor and musician and I am a whale watch naturalist. We live with our sweet and lovable golden retriever Chesney and travel whenever we have time to sneak away. We love the tropics and our favorite place is coastal Mexico. We have traveled the Caribbean as well as Central and South America. Life is good!
