The Space

Beautiful home near the Sacamento River and the Garden Highway in Sacramento, 10 minutes from the airport, downtown, and old Sacramento in a quiet neighborhood. Near many restaurants within walking distance on the Sacramento River. WiFi Internet, cable and parking. Bus 10 minute walk. Can accommodate a couple. We enjoy meeting new people and can provide many resources while you visit Sacramento.

We are 5 minutes from all the major freeways that connect with other parts of California.

Our location and great neighborhood and neighbors is what makes our place unique.

You bedroom is decorated in African Motif. Most everything in the bedroom was purchased by me when I lived in Southern Africa for over 2 years.

Some crafts and baskets are handmade by the indigenous Basarwa/ Bushman/San people who hunted, gathered in this region over 30,000 years ago. Paintings are from Bushman artists with some notarioty. Moonrocks from the Kalahari!

We are also available to host long term visitors who are going to school or transferring fro work.

Interaction with Guests

I enjoy having breakfast with guests, answering any questions they may have about the area and making sure they are comfortable.

The Neighborhood

Our neighborhood is on the Garden Highway and across from the Sacramento River within walking distance to restaurants on the river. Easy access to I-5, I-80, I-50 and downtown within minutes. Because we are situated in a small development there is no through traffic. It is quiet and safe.

  • Most AIRBNB Hosts are great.
But Leyla is in a whole new category.
I stayed with Leyla for a week, and during this time, she dutifully offered coffee and breakfast every morning.
And one evening she invited me to dinner.
The room is immaculate with a wonderful African décor.
Both she and her husband Charlie are great conversationalists and have amazing stories they love to share.
Did I mention that their cat Joy-Joy religiously greets me at the front door whenever I return.
Truly a home away from home.

  • This was my first AirBnb stay and I have to say it was absolutely amazing! Leyla is a very attentive host and JoyJoy the perfect co-hostess :). The location couldn't be better, close to the freeway, and the house has the most lovely welcoming energy to walk into after a long trip. The room was charming, decorated with authentic and beautiful African pieces and the bed and sheets were so comfortable and soft, I don't think I woke up once. Breakfast was delicious, the scrambled eggs and toast were made perfectly and Leyla is so fun to talk to! If I ever come back through Sacramento I would definitely stay with them again and again, I feel like they are "superhost" status!

  • Leyla and Charlie are a kind and charming couple who made me feel welcome in their home; even their cat JoyJoy is a charmer who welcomes you by stretching out on the floor in front of you when you come into the house. The bedroom and its private bathroom are both carpeted; the bedroom's queen-size mattress provided a good night's rest and I was able to use the desk, clock radio, though I did not watch the in-room tv. Leyla made me delicious eggs, tea, and crunchy baguette-type toast for breakfast, which along with her company provided me with a good start to my day. These hosts are genuinely kind and gracious people who care about their guests. The home has a positive and relaxed atmosphere that makes you feel at home. This was my second experience with Airbnb and it was a another positive experience.

  • Leyla and Charlie are amazing people and hosts! They were so welcoming, kind, and helpful during our stay. Their home is lovely; we highly recommend considering reaching out to them if you're visiting the area. (We also enjoyed giving Joy Joy, who is such a sweetie, lots of attention!)

  • Leyla was an exceptionally warm host, very flexible with my arrival time (originally set to be very late, 1-2am, and also receptive to my arrival time changes as well), and very hospitable!

Her home is so lovely and the room that I stayed in was perfect! The bed was s(phone number hidden)comfortable (she recently got a new mattress) and the bathroom is within the bedroom. She included all the amenities and made my stay very easy!

To top it all off - she was so sweet as to ask my what time I was going to wake up and what I wanted for breakfast. She made me the best eggs and tea on the morning of my interview!

It was so LOVELY to meet Leyla and I highly recommend staying staying with her.

  • Leyla and Charlie were very welcoming hosts and I thoroughly enjoyed my holiday in their lovely home. Leyla is very friendly and giving as well as knowledgeable about local sights and activities. My room was very comfortable and private. I enjoyed walks through the pretty neighbourhood to local parks and the river. Also, within walking distance are restaurants, stores and buses to town. I look forward to staying here again on my next trip to Sacramento.

  • Arriving in the middle of the night, Leyla welcomed me with a smile and a cup of tea. We talked for a short while and then she showed me the perfect room, with a nice big bed. What can I say? I slept perfectly and Leyla was a perfect host. Very kind, friendly... The next morning we shared breakfast and we talked and talked and talked. We had a lot in common. I could recommend Leyla without any doubts. I am so happy that I spent my first night in the States with her! It couldn't have been better! Thank you Leyla! With love from The Netherlands :-)

  • My one night stay with Leyla and Charlie was just what I needed after a long drive up from LA on my way to Seattle. The room was cozy and thoughtfully appointed with everything one would find a 5 star hotel right down to the chocolate on the pillow! I had a private bathroom too! Wow!
Next morning we enjoyed conversation over coffee and a homemade breakfast sandwich. I wanted to stay longer but had to hit the road...
    Thank you again Leyla!

  • As a first time user of Airbnb, Leyla and Charlie made this a very enjoyable experience. I travel to the area on business quite often and this was much better than a stuffy hotel. The accommodations were what was advertised and the conversation and hospitality also very pleasant. Great morning coffee and breakfast that prepared me well for my meetings that day. I look forward to using this location again in the future should it be available.

We are an active couple who travels a lot. My husband is a retired Dean of Sacramento State and I am a former executive of non-profits. We enjoy meeting people, and have many interests. We have hosted visiting dignitaries from all over the world through the International Visitors Center. Sacramento is close to the wine country, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, and San Francisco. As Californians we have been most everywhere in California, the most beautiful state in the US. We love to hike, ski, camp, enjoy the arts, music and the California coast. Charlie, writes novels and poetry, loves photography, and is an artist. I make semi-precious stone and crystal necklaces and enjoy gourmet cooking. We enjoy wine and have been to many wineries in California.
