I stayed in this flat for one month.
The wifi works fine and the room had anything that I need. Overall I would recommend it to anyone, although some things have to be said concerning what you should expect:
I'll have to admit that I maybe was a bit naive when looking at the pictures and booking the room - I specifically searched for a room that has a table and and a chair so I can put up my laptop and work there. The room did have the table and chair, however it has absolutely ZERO daylight coming in through the windows - the windows just go out a small inner courtyard, and the flat is in the 2nd out of 12 floors. So after trying to sit in the dark for most of the day I figured this wouldn't work, and I started doing part of my work outside, so I could catch a little daylight.
The second downside to this room is the bathroom: There's no shower tub, instead the whole bathroom is just one big plumbing unit with the drainage somewhere behind the toilet. Unfortunately, the drainage isn't quite as fast, and after a shower I ended up with the bathroom filled up with water above the door threshold to the apartment, flooding a bit of my stuff and having to dry the room.
Also, the water heating is done with a small electrical boiling unit, that really can't store that much hot water, so showering above 5 mins would be difficult unless you enjoy very very cold showers. (Then again, the room will flood beyond that point, so maybe it's not as bad)
That being said, I consider all these problems being 'minor issues' and I really didn't bother that much as it might sound right now. I had a great time in Hong Kong. I was told by other locals on more than one occasion, that my room was a quite 'typical' residence for someone living in Hong Kong, and all the issues I had are not uncommon.
So considering this is one of the cheapest flats that you can get as a tourist, I think this is pretty good value.
Also, there are the plus sides: It's very central (10 min by foot to Sheung Wan MTR or Macau ferry terminal, 1 min by foot to bus stops with numerous buses and the famous tram going down Des Voeux Rd, which will take you to Central Station / IFC or Central Piers in ~5-10 min (depends on traffic). At the bus stop is a 7-11 and really next door is an ATM. Next bigger supermarket is the Park'n'shop at Queen's Road West at about 5 minutes away, just go directly up to Queen's Road West, turn left into Queen's Road West, and walk straight for 2 minutes until you see the Park'n'shop.
It is always a better way to get introduction from neighborhood for the city. What Sascha wrote about is true, but for electricity water heater, it can actually be used for 10 mins if you turned it on and let the water be heated for at least 10 mins. And for the bathroom, there is a curtain separated the toilet the bathing area.
The room was functional. I just slept and showered during my stay for almost a month. Note if you stay in february like me it may be a bit cold at night/early morning, so bring warm pyjamas. As for street/neighbour noise I was not bothered, I got up early and came home late--so too tired perhaps. Security guard was friendly and elevator works fine.
The room is small, but for a single guy it is fine. Enough space to put my clothes under bed, wifi was good, two mirrors is handy. Since I'm not the long shower type I managed fine with the boiler. Only thing I can imagine people might not like is a thin mattress and distance to MTR. But I got around fine with the busses and trams many of which stop just outside the building, also 3 cross-harbor busses. 2 or 3 stops to MTR, price of public transport is so cheap not even worth mentioning. I recommend getting octopus card and local phone SIM a.s.a.p.
Oh and it took me a while to get the hang of the key, need to bump and twist it in a certain way to (un)lock the door. Not sure if that is by design or the key needs cutting.
Nice big street, several laundries, atms, and cheap diners. The location is just outside the more expensive central/sheung wan area. So I noticed bread, street food and shopping were a bit cheaper. All-in-all, for the special price Simens offered me for the month, I had a very pleasant stay.
I have stayed in this small studio for 5-6 weeks now, and will stay longer. It's a small place, but a good standard to be in Hong Kong! Simens is a nice and helpful landlord!
Simens is a very attentive host. The apartment I rented was exactly as described/pictured, and kept in good, clean, working order. If any issues arose, I found Simens to be quickly responsive. I highly, highly recommend him as a host to others.
The apartment was small, but roomy enough for a single traveller (even with large luggage). It was very clean, with everything working, and all basic amenities provided (including shampoo, shower gel, tissues...etc). Hair dryer, microwave and vacuum cleaner are shared between the units, but that was not inconvenient at all. The location is in the Western District which is a little bit out of the way - but transport is very convenient as it is only a quick tram-ride down to Sheung Wan or Central (for MTR etc).
The host and his housekeeper are both very hospitable and responsive to any requests or concerns of the guests, which is much appreciated. Overall, decent value for money. Suitable for a little bit of a longer stay... as it is nice to be a little bit way from the all-consuming hustle bustle of Hong Kong city!
I had a Great stay! Its a nice place and Fully equipped too! Simens is a friendly host to talk to. I will come back again.
Quite small, but it is indeed fully equipped. It says one person, and that's all. The neighborhood is a bit hard to get to, but very real, typical Hong Kong. Apartment's contents were all just fine as well, very efficient. The wall switches may be a bit confusing, but once you figure it out, it's all just fine. Had a good time!
