About this listing
We have 2 bedroom or 3 bedroom cottages accommodating up to 4 or 6 people.
The cottages are on the grounds of Croan House, a 17th Century Irish Manor house.
On the peaceful grounds surrounding historic Croan House, is a little cluster of five charming, traditional style modern cottages.
The cottages are set around a courtyard and approached by a drive of lime trees.
Adjacent to the property is a Forest Park with a number of trails and walks.
Beautifully decorated and fitted out, Chestnut cottage has everything that you will need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Very comfortably furnished, the cottages enjoy a delightfully relaxing ambience, enhanced by grazing goats, hens, rare breed pigs and geese in the grounds. The cottages contain all mod cons and have a private patio and barbeque area and an open fire for cosy evenings in.
Interaction with Guests
We live onsite but each cottage is detached and private.

Rich in history and historic sites.
Train and bus access are nearby but a car is recommended.
Other Things to Note
We offer free fruit and vegetables from the garden, when in season.
Respectful of others.
We had a wonderful stay just out of Kilkenny, in the well decorated and furnished cottage that felt just like home. The dogs were friendly and the peacock and chickens provided amusement for our young children. The yard / grounds are large enough to play ball or simply take the kids for a small walk. There was lots of information provided about things to do, and just a stroll down the road was a public walking track through an extensive estate (can't recall the name!). 15min away was the impressive Kells Priory, and of course 30min away is the picturesque town of Kilkenny, along with Kilkenny Castle and as many shops as you might ever need. About an hour and a half away is the Wicklow National Park, with walks for those wanting to get away from it all.
About the Host, Francis
We try to run Croan Cottages in as sustainable a way as possible.
We work hard to make our environmental goals transparent to our guests, we provide as much information to them as they would like. However, we do not force our principles on to others.
Many of our environmental facilities and principles have been implemented in a way which means that guests are minimising their impact on the environment, often without realising it.
We want our guests to enjoy their stay in our self catering cottages and we simply want to help minimise the impact of our business on the environment.
