Description

The Space

Located on the first floor of a typical Shanghainese complex with beautiful Chinese parasol trees. This is probably more of the real Shanghai people's day-to-day life, with old typical shanghai flats buildings and Mom-dad shops at the corner. Also bars, cafes, medium to affordable range of food around (from 0.8USD clean n yummy Shanghainese noodle to 20USD Sichuan Restaurant to 80USD French gourmet). Free Wi-fi (20M broadband), hot shower, kitchen with all equipment (we have organic veggie delivered every week in the fridge). There are plenty books and movies and really good collection of exotic tea if you would like a cozy and quiet day home.

Enjoy free enjoy-shanghai advice. Tons of books, maps, and good advice that will take you around to see the real Shanghai. Where we are at is close to lots of cheap and yummy local take-away restaurants (including take-away best veggie bun store in Shanghai, 0.2USD per bun); we collected a range of really good take-away menus, and they are supreme. Great security with complex guards, safe bicycle packing and a bike that can lend you but be aware it's easy to lose your bikes in Shanghai: ).

We offer accommodation of the private small bedroom with one single bed. Friendly hosts who are working during the day but always enjoy evenings or weekends hanging with guest and knowing more of your stories. We assume you this is more of the authentic Shanghai experience. This will be your home in Shanghai.

It's a bit different from French Concession as you access more the real Shanghai today- a mix of few high-rise, local restaurants, old lane houses, grand shopping malls and easily accessible public transportations. Oh, we even have a police station 3 mins from here, in case you need to register and of course no worries even more of safety.

Metro: 7 mins walk to Line 2 Century Avenue Metro station or 1 min walk to Line 6 Yuanshen Stadium Station.

Bus: Two major bus stops - takes 10 mins to french concession area and 5 minutes bus to Zhong Shan Park.
Walk: 1 minutes walk to Yuan Shen Stadium; 2 minutes walk to San Qing Gong, the largest Taoism temple in Shanghai. 15 mins walk to Lujiazui and Babaiban area.

Taxi: Within 30 RMB (5 Dollars), you can also access to everywhere all the way from Downtown to the Bund.

Interaction with Guests

For a while we did not live at the apartment, which becomes our biggest regrets as we dislike missing the chance to hang out with guests. We are glad that we finally move back!! As both of us have a day job, we won't be around much during the day, but will be there at night in the room next door~~ We are happy to chat and go out with friends, however if you need more privacy, we can also be very quiet : ).

The Neighborhood

West Wuding Road was rated last year as one of the most romantic roads in Shanghai mainly because of the history and the nice street view. Opposite the 1398 Nong (which is where we live), a old English Kaina Apartment Building that China's famous author Eileen Chang used to live in her earlier years. The Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra is just 3 minutes on the west side. There are lots of old lane houses with interesting stories- the older Shanghaineses are very friendly so you can go and explore yourself.
