Beautiful sunny room in a great Mimo style home.
Renting a room in a totally renovated 1950's Mimo Style Miami home (1,500SqFt) in a small municipality (Village of El Portal) within the City of Miami that is known for its foliage, peacocks, and The Little River of Miami. This is also where the Tequesta Indians once inhabited the area about 500 years ago and is marked as a county historic site. Very quiet and quaint neighborhood and close to most attractions in Miami.
For students attending Barry University the house is located about a two minute drive. If you are attending FIU North Campus it is about a 15 minute drive. If you are a student and would like an extended stay we can negotiate a better price.
For visiting tourists the drive to South Beach is 15 minutes from the house, North Beach 10 minutes. The home is centrally located so that you can get to the airport in 15 minutes, Different shopping venues no more than 15 minutes away and Downtown the same amount of time.
The room is completely decorated and furnished, has a firm full size bed, plenty of closet space, additional storage room for boxes and luggage, laundry room and parking are also included.
I have WIFI throughout the house, however you can use my computer located in the living room. You can also sit and relax in the living room and use the TV and sound system. The rest of the house is shared bathroom, living room, kitchen, dinning room, and yard.
All guests will have access to the entire home except for my bedroom. You can have breakfast at home and snacks if you please. I try to stay stocked up for guests.
Interaction with Guests
I try to interact with all my guests all depending on my workload and how much time I have to be out. I enjoy talking with my guests and exchanging travel experiences.
The neighborhood is a quiet residential one that has quite a bit of old Miami history. Great neighbors and funny mailman. It is a small town in a very large city.
The house is located about 200 yards from the most important street of Miami, Biscayne Blvd. The bus stop is right at that corner and you can go either North or South to all the major connections. However, Miami is very spread out so it could take a lot of time if crossing the city. Keep that in mind. Rental car is the most efficient and convenient for a city like Miami.
Other Things to Note
I have two small dogs one is a Miniature Schnauzer that is 7 years old and a Havanese that is 8 month old. They are both very friendly and are hypo allergenic dogs.

We enjoyed out stay very much. Nice house and neighbourhood.
We were welcomed with fresh made coffee and received tips for our stay in Miami. I would definitely recommend this!
Calixto is a very nice host. He makes great Sandwich and Cuban coffee for us. The room is clean, comfortable and beautiful with travel guides provided.
We enjoyed our stay at Calixto's home.
Calixto was a wonderful host! He is a very welcoming, knowledgeable and generous person. He treated us like family. Cal’s house is located in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood, with wild peacocks walking on the street! There are bus stops on the street corner within walking distance leading you to downtown Miami and north beach. His house is nice, spacious, comfortable, clean and full of art works. The food and drinks in the refrigerator were free for us. He offered us nice Cuban Coffee, American coffee, all kinds of teas, famous Cuba style Versailles pastry, banana bread and cookies for the breakfast and we had very pleasant conversations. Cal also generously offered sun scream, shampoo, towels, beach towels, beach chairs and umbrella. Cal drove us to the beautiful Surfside beach on Sunday morning and gave us many suggestions and recommendations about which place and restaurant to go. He has two little cute and friendly dogs Jeannie & Bribon. We will definitely recommend it to our friends and we will be back for next visit to Miami!
We had amazing time in Miami at Calixto's house. He is very welcoming person and he leaves the guests as whether they were at their homes.
We enjoyed a delicious Cuban coffee and a wonderful banana bread! Moreover, we had opportunity to talk a lot while we had breakfast together. I think he loved the mixed eggs prepared by Ju.
The place is very clean, organized and it has all stuff do you need. The room is comfortable and big. The neighborhood is safe and quiet.
Thanks a lot for all, mi amigo! We will surely stay your home when we visit Miami again. And we wait for you in Brazil!
Calixto is super welcoming and is very hospitable, Thanks for your wonderful dinner and Cuban coffee,Man. Calixto is also thoughtful, I really enjoy staying with him for those two days. I love this place and his two adorable dogs, which offers me a sense of belonging. I will never forget the best experience in Miami and staying at Calixto's home.
This was our first airbnb experience and we couldn't have asked for a better one. Admittedly we were a bit hesitant to stay in someone's home but when we read Calixto’s reviews we decided to give it a try. Calixto and his home more than lived up to the stellar reviews. From the minute we arrived, we felt at ease. He was warm and welcoming, easy to talk with. Our first night, Calixto cooked dinner and urged us to join him, it was a great way to get acquainted. During the weekend mornings, we shared coffee and conversation in the kitchen before going our separate ways. The house was impeccably clean and nicely designed with beautiful natural light and great art on the walls! Our room was equipped with everything we could want, from a small TV to a hair dryer, an extra umbrella, plenty of closet and drawer space. Calixto's puppies were adorable and added to the charm of our stay. Calixto was extremely accessible by text when away from the home and quick to respond if we had any questions during our stay. All-in-all a great home away from home. We'll definitely be back and look forward to staying in his home again.
This stay is a dream! Calixto is a perfect host with a spic&span, art-filled, comfortable home ... we even met his housekeeper, who made us a delicious dinner of Cuban specialities. Take the uniqueness of a charming boutique, mix with a perfect gentleman schooled in worldly mannerisms, add a perfect location minutes to the best of Miami, you have a delightful get away. Hard to come close to anything like this in the US. Calixto's place is like being away in a foreign land without need of a visa or expensive airplane ticket. Loved it and hope to return again. Spotless, bright, airy, modern, historic, warm and loving home. Thank you, my new friend!

I am a 49 year old professional, have lived in Miami my whole life and love to travel to different places. Very outgoing, enjoy having guests at home and make sure they enjoy this magnificent city. I really enjoy being able to host guests through Airbnb and enjoy using this same site when traveling.
