Guise made me feel welcome and a part of her extended family from the moment she opened her front door. There was so much more provided than a room to sleep. There were airport pick ups, extra meals, tours, drives, great conversation and of course bread and muffins from her bakery. Guises generosity is amazing. She obviously thrives on entertaining and is an exceptional host. Grizzly is adorable also. Don't let her size fool you. She is a big sook.

We stayed with Guisela for one night on our way to Costa Rica. She kindly collected us from our shuttle bus in town in the evening and provided a delicious bowl of home made typical chicken broth with wine once we had settled in.Friendly large dog lives in the property. Before our early morning flight, we sampled Guisela's delicious bread from her roof top bakery and then her daughter very kindly dropped us at the a lovely family and so welcoming.Wish we had been there longer as lots to chat about and not enough time.

Everything was absolutely amazing. Guisela is a very kind, sweet woman. She was waiting for me at the airport and, upon arriving at her comfortable home, she heated us up some blackbean soup, poured us a couple glasses wine and we chatted as we enjoyed a late meal together. My room and bed were very comfortable. When I got up (I slept in way longer than I anticipated), she promptly fixed me breakfast, coffee and juice. She offered to let me join her in her bread deliveries (she runs a bakery out of the top floor of her home) which I happily accepted, it was a great way to see the city. When we got back, lunch was ready. She invited me to join her and her friends/family for a typical Guatemalan meal, before which she prayed for my safe travels. She made sure I got to my ride out of Guatemala City (I was headed to Antigua) and gave me a warm goodbye. I very much felt like part of her family. It was a very memorable experience, thank you Guisela!

Guise was a wonderful and helpful host. She made us a nice breakfast daily and kindly gave us many free rides around the city. However, and I hate to say it because she was so nice, it should be noted that there is quite a bit of dog hair and a strong dog smell, and the bathroom leaks water that pools on the floor in hairy puddles. It does feel like it should be cleaner for this price level.

Response from Guisela:
I want to apoligize for the leaky faucet in the bathroom, it has been replaced since you left. And also for the hairy dog, they do shed a couple of times a year, and it just happened to be during your visit. Hopefully your next visit to our home will be much better!

My sister stayed with Guisela, and her feedback was as follows: "Guisela and Richard are wonderful hosts, they are generous, welcoming and very knowledgable about Guatemala. I was picked up and dropped off at the airport, and Guisela organised a taxi for me when I went into the city, making my trip to GC wonderful and relaxed. Their home is beautiful and comfortable, I highly recommend staying here and I hope to be back to visit soon!"

Guisela was the best possible host I could have asked for. She both picked me up and dropped me off at the airport. She was beyond nice and welcoming which made my experience that much better. She offered me coffee and food upon arrival. Upstairs there is a bakery where they bake the most delicious bread and has a nice open view to enjoy. The room and bathroom is clean and quite. The location is a short taxi ride from the more developed part of Zone 10, only costed about $5 USD to go back and forth. Overall, I highly recommend Guisela as a host, she truly really went above and beyond her duties. Thank you Guisela!

I felt right at home with Mrs. Guisela and family. They go beyond the duty to serve you and attend to your needs. I look forward to stay with them again. The neighborhood is secure and Guisela even fetch a taxi for you if you need to go anywhere in town. You for sure receive much more of what you pay for!
