Miwa was a very welcoming host, very friendly and very helpful! The house was lovely, very clean with gorgeous outdoor areas and the room was very nice. The bed was comfortable and the sheets clean and extra blankets were provided. It was lovely to have an ensuite too. The location was brilliant, just a few minutes from Parque Central. Coco the dog was adorable too. Eggs were provided for breakfast which was a lovely touch!
Also many thanks to Miwa for organising the airport transfer from Guatemala City. It was sooooo nice not to have to worry about how to get to Antigua after a long flight, and the driver was brilliant!
Miwa and her husband were gracious and welcoming. Its an easy space to be in. The room was small but had a comfortable bed and easy access and is centrally located. The house is nice and the rooftop was a great place to hang out for meals. The bonus was their restaurant in town, fabulous meal and very reasonably priced.
Miwa and her partner made me feel very welcomed into their home! She gave me a map with directions to restaurants, as well as her restaurant, and also just some cute sight seeing things to do. I was reserved to stay for 8 nights, but not only did I arrive a day late due to missing my flight - and then have to leave early for medical reasons- Miwa was more than understanding and willing to bend the reservation for my needs. She was pretty busy for the most part, so I didn't see her too much; in all fairness I wasn't in the house for to long during most days either. We really only communicated in the early mornings. The service was great! They offer to change your trash cans, and wash your towels mid way through the stay. They also offer a full breakfast, which was really great! The house is also gorgeous. Theres a back yard, court yard, and roof top seating area. The roof was my favorite because Antigua is surrounded by mountains, so the view is amazing. Their location is pretty prime as well. Antigua is a 'town', so everything is walking distance - even if its on the 'other side of town' - it's only a 15 - 20 min walk rather than a 5 min walk to arrive to your final destination. There's great little shops - But ask her where the street market is - because that place is awesome and way more local. All in All, it was an absolute pleasure to stay with Miwa.
Miwa was really great to coordinate from the beginning of our trip. She arranged a nice private shuttle from the airport upon our arrival. There was someone at the house to give us a tour, keys, and to suggest places to exchange money. The room was comfortable but not extravagant and included a locked area for valuables. The attached bathroom was clean and had hot water! Breakfast in the morning was great and the kitchen was well stocked for food preparation. Also there was lots of clean water to drink and fill water bottles with. Miwa also arranged a hiking tour of Pacaya and a shuttle to Lake atitlan on our last day. They were also very accessible by phone for any help that we needed!
We had SUCH a wonderful stay with Miwa and Kohei in their gorgeous home. They live in a great location- South/Central, so that the entire town is extremely walk-accessible. Every morning there is fresh, organic eggs, coffee, toast and jam and they make their entire kitchen available to you. They were gracious hosts, and we felt very comfortable our entire stay (Their sweet dog Cocao is an added bonus!). Make sure to pick fresh limes from their tree in their back courtyard, or enjoy a sunrise from their terrace.
As an aside, they also own a delicious organic Japanese restaurant in town called Origami in which Miwa is the head chef. We ate a meal there that was wonderful, and would highly recommend a visit there to all.
We throughly enjoyed our stay with Miwa and Kohei. Their home is absolutely wonderful. So much so that we decided to extend our stay. The rooms are comfortable and clean (we stayed in two different rooms). The breakfast supplied by Miwa and Kohei was nice (fresh organic eggs, homemade wholewheat bread and fresh coffee). We would highly recommend staying here, it's in a great location next to all of Antigua's highlights. Also, don't miss the chance to try Miwa and Kohei's restaurant (Origami) which is delicious (honestly one of our favorite meals while in Antigua).

About the Host, Miwa
I am from Tokyo, Japan and currently living in Antigua, Guatemala. I love traveling and meeting new people. I am open to any new ideas.
I was taking a year off to travel around the world starting from Canada, Mexico, Belize, and now in Guatemala. I just fell in love with Guatemalan and non-Guatemalan living in Antigua, beautiful buildings, fantastic natures, and the climate, so I stop traveling and started living here. Hope to share the wonderful experience with you!
We go there to relax by the swimming pool or for Guatemalan street food (16:00-18:00) such as tostadas, tacos, chile rellenos, etc., or for a cup of coffee with wifi in less than a block away.Antigua Guatemala
