About this listing

We love the privacy and seclusion of the cabin. It is very peaceful. Although it seems remote, it is right off the road. We also love the rustic appearance. Although it looks rustic, it is quite comfortable with all the modern amenities.

The space

Secluded cabin located on 10 acres in Johnsburg, NY, about 3.5 hours north of New York City. The cabin is surrounded by hundreds of vacant acres with trails. It has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, a fully equipped kitchen, dining area and living room with wood stove and HDTV with DVD (no cable), as well as wireless internet. Backyard has a lean-to and hot tub on a platform under the stars, as well as a firepit for camp fires. Other amenities include central air and heat. Great for a family or two couples traveling together, as one floor has one bedroom and one bathroom and upstairs has another two bedrooms and one bathroom.

There is a full sized bed in the master bedroom, and 4 twin beds, with 2 in each of the upstairs bedrooms. The futon in the living room folds out to a queen sized bed if you want more room.

There are terrific restaurants in North Creek, NY, as well as a full service grocery store, drug store and liquor store.

There is white water rafting nearby, as well as downhill and cross country skiing and tubing. Great hiking at nearby Crane Mountain, and swimming at beautiful Garnet Lake

Fun cozy house in a beautiful area; hot tub and wood stove made it an even more relaxing stay. Steve had helpful recommendations for the area, per his suggestion we hiked along a beautiful creek not far from the house.

OMG! A hot tub under the stars, a wood burning stove, and a seductively comfortable couch and chair. Just what you need to relax and unwind.

Nice house, quiet location but not too far to skiing, hiking, and a few towns. Hot tub was nice. Unfortunately, annoying sump pump ran 24/7 so there was more noise in the house than in my next stop in New York City. That made sleeping a bit of an issue but should only be a problem in spring when there's a lot of water around. But we also saw evidence of mice each morning on the kitchen counters. I didn't like having to wash the kitchen each day before cooking.

Response from Steve:
I am sorry to read that Dan had trouble with the sump pump running constantly. In the Spring, water leaks into the basement and the pump clears it out. The reason why it ran constantly, though, is because the floating trigger got hung up on the side of the cistern. If Dan had told me it was running constantly, I could have taken care of it quickly. Also, we go to great lengths to keep mice out of the cabin. (In fact, I have four traps hidden in the kitchen area.) Sometimes a mouse gets in but it is never around for long.

We had a short but very pleasant stay. The wood stove made for a comfy evening while the snow piled up. We found the cabin set up as described/expected and Steve was a very helpful and accommodating host. More nights to relax in the hot tub would have been nice :-)

Amazing weekend at Steve's cabin! We hiked on a warm day and went snowboarding on a cold one. Only 20 minutes away from Gore Mountain and North Creek. Perfect location. The hot tub and wood burning stove really added to our weekend. We plan to come back!

Great place to get away from it all. Close to Gore my for skiing but seems great for all year round. I'd love to come back!
