Ella's house is great. Located in within walking distance of restaurants, bars, and occasional live music in an artsy neighborhood. Lovely host. My recurring room rental when I'm in Memphis for work!
Ella's house is my favorite place to stay during my frequent work travel to Memphis. She's a kind and welcoming host and a calm presence, with a house in a great neighborhood near cafes, bars, yoga, a great little used bookstore and long-time residents. I definitely recommend staying here.
Ella is the perfect hostess - her home is your home when you stay here. The en suite set-up of the room means you have plenty of privacy but also access to her kitchen and her great community of yoga students who come by the house for classes. A great front porch too. I love staying at Ella's when I'm in Memphis for business.
The bedroom was large and comfortable with its own spacious private bath. I was in Memphis for a conference and did not have a chance to explore the neighborhood. Ella was welcoming and it was easy to communicate with her via text so that I could get into the home when I returned at night. A very comfortable stay.
We stayed for 3 nights with Ella and her dog duke. They were very welcoming and Ella went out of her way by ferrying us to several destinations.
The room was spacious, clean and comfortable and the bathroom facilities were good.
The cooper young area is BRILLIANT if you're looking for an alternative area to stay ie independent cafés, restaurants, shops and bars. These are all within walking distance (upto 20 min for the furthest)
We recommend the beauty parlour, it's associate bar next door (good live music) and otherlands coffee bar.
The only drawbacks are the lack of public transport and no wifi
Another must go to is rev al greens gospel sermon on a Sunday at 11:30am

Hello My name is Ella.
I have lived in Memphis about 5 years now. I was born in the Delta, however I have spent most of my adult life on the west coast and overseas. I have travelled to such places as Tibet, India, South Africa, UK, Australia and of course all over the USA.
Living in Memphis has been an adjustment of culture for me. I am learning to love it here and really like the people. Nice friendly and very hospitable.
The area of Memphis
where I live is called Cooper Young and is very trendy and eclectic. Sometimes it feels like being back in the 70's ad 80's.
I am friendly and outgoing when it comes to showing people around the city. Although I am still learning I really enjoy being a guide, if that is something you are interested in.
This is not a Bed and Breakfast but there are lots of places around to eat....Let me know if you need longer stay quotes.
I do hope you enjoy your stay here in Memphis, the Music City. (Elvis- Graceland) not too far.)
