Fazit: extrem empfehlenswertes Haus, super-nette Gastgeber!
We loved staying in Marie-Christine's house. She is a very gracious and generous host, starting with our welcoming meal that included a lovely bottle of wine, fresh artisanal bread, cheese, and luscious strawberries. The kitchen is a well-equipped Provence classic, the furnishings are vintage and comfortable, and the decor is tasteful and intriguing. We enjoyed sitting on the private terrace at the end of the day, sipping wine and enjoying the bountiful foods of Provence. The windows look out on a charming square where the locals meet, greet and eat. The location is perfect with groceries and shops nearby. Marie-Christine was not in Arles at the time of our visit, but her lovely friend, Françoise, met us at the train station, oriented us to the house, and gave us a ride back to the station at the end of our stay. The wifi worked well. The house is on four levels, and the stairs are tricky and could be dangerous for someone with ambulation problems. But, we ranged in age from 50 to 73 and did fine. No need for a workout at the gym :) We have been traveling for over a year, and this is one of the most enjoyable and memorable lodging situations that we have had. Highly recommended!
My family and I arrived at Christine's on 2nd January and she her husband and son were there waiting for us. They showed the beautiful house, had a card with what to do, where to go and where to eat in Arles for each and every day of our stay, a bunch of maps and in the end still presented us with a champagne, a kings cake and a bowl of fish soup. We were already amazed with such reception.
During our stay Christine still called twice to know how we were doing.
As for the house it is perfect. Has everything (and more) that we needed.
Thank you Christine and looking forward to returning and meeting you again in the future.
We have rented this house for five nights stay in Provence. The house is in a great location in the historical center of Arles within a walking distance to all major sites of the town and for visiting the surrounding sites such as Avignon, Luberon hill towns, Aix-en-Provence, etc. It seemed like everything we wanted to see in Provence was within a 45 minute drive.
The 3.5 story house is clean, spacious and extremely beautifully designed with a unique Provence style. It has three separate bedrooms, one in each story, well decorated with wooden ceilings, which provide full privacy for each. The house is very well equipped with everything one would require such as kitchen with all utensil needed, large and comfortable wash room, balcony with a small garden, free Wi-Fi, etc.
The owners of the house, Marie-Christine and her spouse Alain were very charming while welcoming us with a bottle of wine and all the ingredients needed for the first diner in their house. They were very helpful and very knowledgeable about the whole area and have provided us with an adequate information regarding touring and eating in Arles. In a way, we didn't want them to leave…
This was one of the very best places we have stayed in years and we had a wonderful time there. Thanks to the owners Marie-Christine & Alain who made this house so special, and thanks to AIRBNB who made it available for us.
