Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
This is a cozy guestroom attached to the garage on our stunning half-acre lakefront, tree-studded property. The bedroom (double bed) and bath are small (not room for a lot of luggage), but perfect for a few nights stay. We have two chairs and a little table set up right outside the door, and there are other relaxing spots on the grounds. Two kayaks and a canoe are available for cruising Soda Bay...no charge. Check-in time is normally 3:00, but can often be earlier with prior approval.

The space
The interior is all redwood, and with the carpeting and curtains, it is very cozy. The room is on lakefront property, and the water is just a short walk across the grounds. There is a double bed (not a queen) in the bedroom and a shower stall in the bath. There are both heating and air conditioning, as well as a coffee maker and dorm-sized refrigerator. We have a couple of wicker chairs and a small table set by the flower box outside the doorway. Look across the large lawn through all the beautiful trees to the lake. Walk the shoreline on the community-designated promenade.

Guest access
Stroll down the winding stone path to the lawn area and on to the lake. Share our peaceful patio and the cut-field-stone deck overlooking the water. Make use of our lawn games: cornhole or bocci ball. We have two kayaks that are also available; no charge. There is a buoy for boat tie-up, but no boat dock or ramp. Pay to launch about 1/4 mile away. Access to the water is out a cement walkway for swimming or launching of kayaks.

Other things to note
If we are at home during your stay, the refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker are available in our kitchen in the main house. You can always share the barbecue near the cottage.

The room is located in what we call the Soda Bay "village." The surrounding neighborhood is several narrow winding streets, mostly with small vacation houses built in the forties and fifties. A mom and pop market is just a short walk away as well as a coffee shop that has breakfast sandwiches and a limited lunch menu, burgers, wraps, and the like.

My wife, Joan, and I have lived in the main house for over 30 years and raised three daughters here. We love having family and friends visit as well as renting the house and guestroom so others can enjoy themas much as we have. I taught high school here in Lake County for 31 years, worked for contractors for two years, then had my own landscape business for ten. Joan has been a self-employed CPA, like forever. Her office is here in the main house with beautiful views of the lake and the yard. Clients actually love to come and have their taxes done. We would love to have you share this special spot with us.
