Olomayiana is a private, self-catering camp—your perfect retreat, work-away, or city escape. It offers fast unlimited internet for remote work, plus peace and tranquillity. The five en-suite bedrooms (tents & cottages) are spread across the camp for privacy. Enjoy the pool, horses, hiking, massage & wildlife—you won’t be bored! Our friendly staff handle cleaning, food prep & washing up. Bonus: A 6th bedroom is sometimes available—just ask! A chef and/or masseuse can be arranged with notice.

The space
Olomayiana is located in the stunning Maparasha Hills, en route to Amboseli National Park. These hills lie along a wildlife migration corridor, where grazing becomes scarce in the dry season, drawing Amboseli’s wildlife to pass through. Take a look at our wildlife book to see past visitors—including porcupine, aardvark, leopard, kudu, zebra, eland, buffalo, impala, monkeys, wild dogs, and baboons—then add your own sightings! Bird lovers will also find a diverse range of species to spot - many unique to this part of Kenya.

🌿 Relax, Unwind & Explore

Massage & Gym: Enjoy a massage at the poolside massage/gym room—pre-book before arrival to guarantee availability.
Hiking Adventures: We offer guided hikes from 30 minutes to 6 hours for a small additional charge. Whether you prefer a 5-minute walk to our sundowner spot, a 20-minute trek to Pride Rock, or a longer wilderness hike, there’s an option for every level.
Horseback Safaris: Take a ride through the bush on one of our well-trained horses.

🏡 Comfortable Living with Full Amenities
Mary and Emily visit daily to clean the rooms and handle washing-up, so you can fully relax. The kitchen is a large, social space, equipped with:

Two solar-powered fridge/freezers (yes, ice made by the sun!)
A gas oven with a 5-burner hob
A gas BBQ, safari oven & charcoal pizza oven in the outdoor kitchen, complete with seating and 'Big Bertha'—our large chiminea for cosy evenings.
A charcoal cooler for extra storage (great for keeping vegetables fresh!).

🚨 Cheeky Monkey Alert! Don’t leave food unattended—our resident monkeys love a free snack.

💻 Remote Work-Friendly
We’ve invested in unlimited high-speed internet, strong enough for multiple video calls at the same time, making us ideal for remote workers.

🔋 Sustainable & Off-Grid Comfort

100% solar power (so no hairdryers or electric kettles).
Fresh, safe drinking water from our private borehole.
Solar-heated water (morning showers may need a couple of hours to reheat after cooler nights, but we can heat water by fire for a bath in the Glass Cottage).

🏊‍♂️ Pool & Accommodation
The pool is just a short walk from the main camp. Our five en-suite bedrooms—two cottages & three tents—are spread out for privacy.

🔹 6th Bedroom (Available on Request!)
For larger groups, we sometimes offer a 6th en-suite bedroom, which is privately accessed and attached to our home, set further up the hill beyond the pool. Let us know in advance if you’d like to check availability!

Guest access
Guests have full access to our 80-acre farm and camp, whether you prefer to explore on foot or on horseback (horse riding available for an additional charge).

🚶‍♂️ Walking & Hiking:

Wander freely along our network of cut walking paths within the property.
Join a guided hike on our neighbour’s land, offering stunning scenic views and opportunities for wildlife spotting (small extra charge for guide applies).
Take a short 5-minute walk to our dedicated sundowner spot, or opt for a 20-minute trek to Pride Rock for breathtaking valley views.

🐎 Horseback Riding:

For a unique experience, explore the bush on horseback, riding through open landscapes and wildlife trails (extra charge applies).

⚡ Security & Privacy:

The camp itself is enclosed by an electric fence, ensuring safety while maintaining an authentic bush experience.
The pool area, cottages, and tents are all within this protected zone, allowing you to enjoy nature in comfort.

🚗 Parking:

We offer covered parking for up to 3 cars (a tight fit, but doable!) or easy parking for 2. There is unlimited (but uncovered) additional parking

Other things to note
🚗 Getting Here:
Ideally, a high-clearance vehicle is best for accessing Olomayiana. That said, we’ve tackled the road many times in our trusty old Toyota Corolla—it’s definitely doable, but expect a bumpy ride!

🦓 Wildlife & Safety:
We share our land with wild animals, so while exploring, keep in mind that nature is unpredictable. The owners assume no liability for wildlife encounters or accidents, but walking along the farm’s paths is generally safe. If you plan to head into the denser bush, just take extra care and ask us what animals have been around in the last 24 hours—it's always good to be aware!

🐴 Curious Horses & Carrot Bribes:
Our friendly horses sometimes wander up to camp to check things out (and see if anyone has a carrot to spare!). They love company, but if you’re not used to horses, just remember not to walk directly behind them, as they can’t see you there.

🏡 Our Home & Extra Bedroom:
We have a house separate from the camp, though we aren’t there as often as we’d like! When we’re away, there’s one extra en-suite bedroom available in our home. It has its own private entrance and is easily accessible from the camp—just let us know if you’d like to use it.

Neighborhood highlights

Sit and watch the wildlife, go for walks, groom the horses and donkeys, collect eggs from our chickens, go horse riding, have a badminton match, play ping pong, take a swim, enjoy the stunning views. As well as the wildlife, and nearby trips to Amboseli National Park, you can walk further afield - our neighbours are very welcoming but please be respectful, and seek permission to go on their land.

You can buy vegetables and basics in Bisel, the nearest supermarket is in Kajiado which is a 35-minute drive. There should be some eggs and veggies available for you to use.
