Beautiful, spacious and cozy home in the heart of the national historic Sam Hughes neighborhood in Tucson! Enjoy comfort, fine furnishings, & outdoor living space within walking and short driving distance of the U of Arizona and Tucson's attractions!
(Street view is nearby, not exact. (website hidden) street view is outdated for this property.)
Recently renovated and beautifully furnished 3BR, 2 BA home in the heart of the historic Sam Hughes neighborhood. Within walking distance of beautiful parks, stores, restaurants and the University of Arizona and its museums and offerings. Within short driving/taxi distance of first class day spas, golf, tennis, sports, hiking and diverse Tucson attractions.
The home is very open and offers a lot of light. Ideal for 2 couples or a couple with a friend/s or small family who wish to enjoy some time in Tucson. The living space is open to the kitchen and dining area. Depending on the party, it sleeps 4 to 6 comfortably. One bedroom offers a queen sized bed. The second offers a full to queen sized (It is a queen but one guest suggested it is not adequate for two larger people). The third bedroom also serves as an office for those who need to work on the road, and also has a single couch or blowup bed.
There is a garage and outdoor parking space for one or two cars.
The style is modern with beautiful wood ceilings and exposed logs in the living area.
The outdoor living space is private (surrounded by adobe wall and gates) and spacious. We are in the process of planting indigenous plants and adding special touches to the outdoor space. There are mountain views from the front patio and BR/office.
The Sam Hughes neighborhood is on the national historic register and is perfect for morning and evening walks. Within 1-2 blocks each way is a corner market for coffee and convenient shopping, a pub and Tucson Tamale, the best tamales in the city! The University of Arizona is also a short 10-15 minute walk and offers museums, the arts, music and other attractions, including sporting events in the PAC-12 at the highest level of collegiate sports.
Tucson public transit is excellent and accessible.
The home is unique in many respects, but mostly due to the openness, light, exposed wood and log in a traditional southwestern adobe home. It is also well situated to all attractions, from day spas such as Miraval and Canyon Ranch to first class golf courses and hiking trails in Sabino Canyon.
p.s. While one week is the minimum stay, I will consider long weekends of 4 night minimum stays at a slightly higher price.
Guests have full access to the house, including the front patio, back yard and driveway.
Interaction with Guests
The guests have sole access to the house during their stay. I am involved only in check in and check out.
The neighborhood, Sam Hughes, is a lovely historic neighborhood. It is beautiful for walks, has easy access to a neighborhood grocer (Rincon Market), restaurants by foot or car and is walking distance to the University of Arizona and its many attractions. It is also centrally located to ever attraction in the Tucson area.
There is easy public transit and while convenient to have a car, depending on the purpose of your trip, you can choose not to have a car.
Other Things to Note
It's a lovely property with all amenities and you will feel at home and very comfortable.
No pets. No smoking inside the house. Please take care of home as you would take care of your home that you wish to remain in excellent condition. We require a cleaning service after each rental but please clean up after yourself so that cleaning is surface cleaning. We expect guests to report any problem or damage immediately.
We had a wonderful time at the cozy log cabin. The house is well located on a quiet street, and well equipped with everything one needs to relax!! Thank you for your hospitality.
A treat to be greeted by Susan with armloads of groceries for us! Coffee, half and half, juice, fruit, bread. What a surprise. The house is spacious, nicely appointed and so CLEAN. Great instructions on how things work. Enjoyed the Sonos sound system and spent some lovely hours playing my ukulele in the sunroom.
Central to everything - a quick hop downtown or to the U. Tucson Tamale Company just around the corner and a great Ethiopian restaurant just beyond it.
Laura did everything possible to make us feel both welcomed & informed. Her flexibility & responsiveness made everything easy.
After having spent a week in Laura's Tucson house, I was ready to move in. First, it's a great location, only a 5-minute drive from the heart of downtown, where we went for coffee or breakfast in the mornings, or a 15 to 20-minute drive from the Catalinas and the Rincon District of Saguaro National Park, where we spent the rest of our days. Second, there's the house itself: intimate, private, beautifully designed (love the wood columns and ceilings), and in a great old Tucson neighborhood which is fun to ride or walk around to look at the Spanish eclectic architecture. In spite of being on the main thoroughfare that cuts through the neighborhood, the house is shockingly quiet, which was great for me since I'm a light sleeper. The extras I greatly appreciated were the ample cooking tools, since we do a lot of that on vacation, and the stellar Sonos sound system, because we like to listen to music while we eat the food we made! Finally, Laura and her friend who checked us in were both responsive, and went that extra mile delivering the nice touches to make us feel welcome: coffee and juice in the fridge, a bottle of wine, some fruit in a bowl on the counter. Just an all-around great experience.
Thank you, Greg, for the wonderful review! I am so glad that you and your party enjoyed your stay in Tucson and at the Log Cabin. Thank you also for noting how quiet it is inside the house. Some have asked about noise and it is really well insulated and feels very private surrounded by the outer adobe wall as well as the well insulated house. I hope you'll be back again sometime!
As soon as we landed in Tucson, we phoned our local host, Susan, who met us directly at the house. She was very accommodating, and gave us a complete tour of the home. All rooms were clean, attractive and cozy. The kitchen was well set up for serious cooking, including a large gas grill in the backyard. The neighborhood was conveniently located to all destinations, including the Tucson Tamales restaurant around the corner! Three adults spent one week in this house and were very comfortable the whole time. I highly recommend the Cozy Log Cabin.
This accommodation is a wonderful house in a great location in Tucson. The description and pictures of the home were exactly as advertised. The furnishings are very nice and the house was very clean. We really enjoyed the Sonos sound system and the backyard patio. The host was very helpful and responsive. We appreciated the stocked kitchen which included snacks, wine and coffee.
I would definetly recommeend this house to anyone visiting Tucson.
I am from NJ, currently live in DC and Tucson. I like to travel, workout, enjoy running and my dog and all dogs and animals. I enjoy the beach in the summer, mountains in the winter, and the beauty of nature as well as the energy of great cities. I love great live music and good theater and good food is important to me as well! When I travel I like to be very active but then have a comfortable place to rest. I treat hosts' homes as I would my own and expect the same of guests in my home.
