About This Listing
The Volcano is flowing! Pahoa is in jeopardy because the flow is dividing the little city right down the middle. Come and see Kileaua in action. Book your reservations in the Bali Hut and experience this act of nature. Madame Pele welcomes you.
The Balihut is located in a tropical setting of a forrested Ohia Grove on a 1 acre Gated property in Leilani Estates on the Big Island of Hawaii. 10 feet off the ground puts the Balihut up in the tall Ohia trees and Tropical Vegetation.
Pahoa and Puna are ecclectic and still has the old Hawaii Charm. Strictly off the tourist radar, this is one of Hawaii's best kept secrets. Abundant with attractions including volcanos, surfing beaches and hot ponds this is a must for the adventurer with an affordable budget.
This is a hut in the trees, comfortable, clean and exotic.
Dickie was a great host with information around the area. Bali Hut was clean and very cute. All of the necessities were taken care of; kitchenware, laundry supplies, filtered water, etc. The hut was nice and cool during the night and we slept extremely well. Be aware the hut is in the trees and nature noises can get loud.
We had a great stay at the Bali Hut. It is so beautiful! We even stayed one more night. You aldo have to like the sound of the frogs witch is almost constant (I found it relaxing, I guess it differs from one another). The only thing less plesant is the humidity, but I was aware of that because of all the previous comments others wrote. Otherwise, everything was fine! Dickie was a grest host and she even gave us tips on what to do nearby.
A magical little hut. This is definitely "glamping" and really fun. We extended our stay because we liked the experience so much. The coquis frogs can very loud, so bring ear plugs! You are also in the middle of a rainforest, so don't expect things to dry quickly.
This is a special place. I did not anticipate how much I would like it.
The good: The property is amazing. Nestled in a forested "neighborhood" in Pahoa, you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. The hut itself feels private as it is nestled in the trees. The space has everything you will need as far as amenities and the outdoor shower/bathroom is really cool. It rains a fair amount over here too so you really get to enjoy being in nature while being comfortable. The bed was good too. All in all I loved this place.
The "bad": It is about a 30ish yard path to the hut...so it isn't super favorable if you have a lot of luggage. But it really isn't a big deal. The only other thing is that the back of the hut faces the road so you get some traffic noise but it is pretty negligible. And if you happen to hate coqui frogs, they get pretty loud at night (but it didn't bother me). There are mosquitoes, so bring bug spray. That is probably the only true bad thing about it.
The host: Dickie was great. She was easy to work with and communication was solid. She gave us good recommendations and made us feel welcome.
I highly recommend this spot and I would without a doubt stay here again.
Beautiful little treehouse tucked away in the jungle. Exactly as described and the outdoor shower was a real treat. It does get quite humid down in that part of the island in May and the treehouse can feel a little damp but this is a great value spot with tons of character and I'd recommend it if you prefer something a little different and rough around the edges.
As soon as I pulled in the drive I knew this place was special! The property is surrounded by fruit trees and I was greeted by a friendly kitty. Dickie was a warm and caring host. The hut was completely private and peaceful and the accommodations were just right. I had everything I needed - a comfortable place to stay, full of character and thoughtfully designed. The outdoor shower was blissful too!
